Usual Adult Dose for Nasal Congestion

0.025% solution: 4 to 6 drops to each nostril twice daily as needed.

0.05% solution: 2 to 3 drops to each nostril twice daily as needed.

Usual Pediatric Dose for Nasal Congestion

0.025% solution:
>= 2 years to 5 years: 2 to 3 drops to each nostril twice daily as needed.
6 years to 18 years: 4 to 6 drops to each nostril twice daily as needed.

0.05% solution:
>= 6 years to 18 years: 2 to 3 drops to each nostril twice daily as needed.

0.05% spray:
>= 6 years to 18 years: 1 to 2 sprays to each nostril twice daily as needed.

Precautions

Oxymetazoline should not be used for longer than 3 days.

The 0.05% solution and spray are not recommended in children < 6 years. Excessive doses may cause significant CNS depression in children.

Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, cardiac disease, prostatic hypertrophy, diabetes, increased intraocular pressure, or hypertension.
