OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I suffer from degenerative arthritis in my lower spine, which is slowly making its way up my back. At first I was taking Oxynorm which is the same as OxyContin but in an instant release form. I began on 10mg a day, however due to tolerance issues this dosage quickly increased. Leaving me in a state where I was so stoned I might as well have been drunk. Concerned with that I spoke to my GP who changed me over to OxyContin, slow release. After 3 years, due once again to tolerance I am on 80mg 3x24hrs. The pain relief is awesome sometimes it's so effective I forget my backs stuffed. However some of the side effects are bad for instance I forget to breath, have trouble swallowing and the constipation is horrendous."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I’ve been on Xtampza since January 2019. I have post laminectomy syndrome, spinal stenosis, Levoscoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, facet joint arthrosis, DDD, and a few herniated discs in my C-spine and L-spine and I’m only 35. As with all medications, everyone’s body works different in regards to medicine. For me, Xtampza works great and I find that it covers my pain most of the time for a full 24 hours. Granted my pain does change with the weather. However, I have found that Xtampza works better than OxyContin for me."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Pain "Xtampza gave me my dignity back. I was bedridden for over four years straight and after literally trying every pain medication in existence (including Fentanyl, spinal nerve stimulator, and pain pump,) I am now able to function at a much higher level. This medication is ideal for those who metabolize meds rapidly, which can be discovered by taking a P-450 blood test. Because of the abuse deterrent capsule, the beads of medication break down slowly. In my experience, this keeps side effects like nausea down. It lasts longer than any ER med I have tried and is more stable in its release. I am losing weight gained previously. The capsule can be sprinkled on apple sauce, but needs to have a fat source to break down properly. A cracker or cookie easily solves this, which is a good practice to have in place with any med to protect stomach lining. I am prescribed a breakthrough med besides Xtampza. I am thankful beyond words that this has worked for me."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I've had a chronic pain for over 9 years now due to fibromyalgia and rheumatoid after I had a neck fusion back in 2005. Every day I hav a lot of pain that I couldn't get out of bed without takin my med first. I'm on OxyContin 20 mg 2 a day every 12 hrs. and Percocet 10/325 4 a day for break through. OxyContin doesn't work for me real good it'll last about 3 to 4 hours then I have to take Percocet after for breakthrough to help my pain some more. So altogether with this 2 medication I still have a lot of pain that I'm coping with. I wish the doctor would increase the OxyContin but he doesn't want to so I have to live with all this pain everyday for almost 10 yrs. now, you know it's real bad to live with chronic pain everyday. Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "Dangerous erratic medication. Package says to take with same amount and same type of food every dose. How can you do that. I can tell you this for sure. Sometimes it works, sometimes you OD, sometimes it does nothing for the pain. You never know what you will get. This medication is going to OVER DOSE PEOPLE!. You can tell the good reviews on here were written by the drug maker. The only thruth-ful ones sound like this."

Dazidox (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "Been taking Percocet which is merely oxycodone with Tylenol. Doc just changed me to dazidox (plain oxycodone). NOTHING. I called my pharmacy and said WTH. Are you giving me a placebo? Pharmacist suggested I take a Tylenol with each dose of dazidox. I’m taking 10 mg. Was taking 7.5 of Percocet. If the corona virus doesn’t get me, this DO NOTHING DRUG will."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have chronic pancreatitis-cause unknown (I do not drink alcohol). The pain from this disease is constant and severe. I take Oxycontin 30 mg twice daily and it is very effective in controlling the pain and keeping it, for the most part, at a tolerable level (about 4-5 on the 1-10 pain scale). For occasional episodes of breakthrough pain, which can be very bad, I have oral Dilaudid 2 mg. I do not take this often, only when needed. It helps me avoid trips to the ER for pain control. Dilaudid is not often prescribed for home use. I'm under the care of a pain specialist. Neither my GI nor endocrinologist can prescribe schedule II narcotics. Chronic pancreatitis is one of the most painful diseases a person can have."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Pain "I have been taking the extended release tablets of Oxycontin for degenerative spine disease for about 1 1/2 years. I had been through so many different pills, therapy, surgeries, etc. I actually got my life back. I was able to do my housework, do some (limited) activities with my child and most of all work. I am only 47 and cannot believe my life has become a continuous back issue. If it weren't for this medication I would be on disability. I too, am tired of the bad rap people get for being prescribed this medication. The stigma associated with this medication is horrific. It is embarrassing enough that I have this disease and have to rely on medication, but it keeps me productive in society. I refuse to go on disability."

For Pain "I recently had to change from the Mallinckrodt brand of oxycodone 10 to Rhodes. Mallinckrodt worked great for me, and I read in the reviews that Rhodes was a wack brand, but I beg to differ. I definitely feel relief and relaxation with the Rhodes brand!"

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "My PM doc ran me through the gamut of long acting pain killers before settling on OxyContin. When I started seeing this PM doc I had been taking 15 mg oxycodone (IR) 6 times a day and he told me we needed to get me on a long acting medicine. We tried Exalgo, Opana, Avinza, Nucynta, and Exalgo again. They all seemed to provide adequate pain relief, just not for the amount of time they claim to. Back to old faithful. OxyContin /oxycodone hasn't failed. me yet."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Pain "I have suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for 30 years. I have been through all the NSAID drugs, Celebrex , etc, Methotrexate injections, gold shots, Aspirin in mega doses. I finally found a Doctor who understood. He prescribed oxycontin 40mg 3 times a day for my pain. I still have pain, but it is liveable. I am on disability, and am also able to hold a part-time job. I don't struggle to do simple things like take a shower or do the dishes. This medicine has changed my life."

For Chronic Pain "Oxycodone is the only medication that helps my severe, intractable spine pain. The new movement/narrative that opiates don't work long term is a crock. The experts are the people who live the conditions."

For Chronic Pain "Recent 15mg oxycodone Mallinckrodt ineffective. Only makes me sleepy with minimal pain relief. I think the days of getting opioids that worked are over. I am very upset by this. WE HAVE TO SPEAK UP TO OUR PROVIDERS and file reports with the FDA. Scroll down, there are reviews below that list where to file your complaint if your medication isn’t working. We all must take the time in which to do so."

Roxicodone (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I was on Percocet 10/325 and the highest dose. It was killing my stomach but since my doctor changed it to just roxicodone without acetaminophen I feel much better. It definitely helps with the pain. I take a lot less pills now because I'm on the right dose. I haven't had any bad reactions either so far. Been on this for almost a year now."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I was started on Xstamza ER in Jan 2020. CMS removed Oxycontin ER from the formulary in 2020 and switchwd to Xstamza ER mfg by Collegium. My pain group started me on 18 mg Xstamza vs the 20 mg Oxycontin ER. After three months told PM it was not working. She upped it to 27 mg Xstamza. I hit the coverage gap in May. I refuse to pay over $100+ for a drug that does very little so when I had my tele-healrh appt on Friday told hsr it really was doing little to help me and I refused to have it filled. Its just shy of being a worthless pain medication. Have heard from several the same thing."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I find oxycontin very effective but it took some time to get it to where it was most effective. I found most surprising that higher doses caused more pain. My doctor is great. He worked WITH me to adjust it many up & down on dosage. Best of all WE were able to find a low dose of Oxycontin & Oxycodone combination that has worked consistently for over a year now without adjustments. Fiñd a doc that is also a real partner in your health care!!!!!"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I too was forced to use something other than MS Contin. Xtampza was chosen and I suffered through it for 3 weeks before calling my physician in tears to let him know that I had no relief whatsoever from the pain and as well I was experiencing headaches diarrhea and deeper depression. I was then given a prescription for Belbuca film. Would have liked to try it but insurance doesn't cover it and it costs $475 a month! What are we to do???"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "At my request, due to daily soaking sweats I went from 8 years of methadone for chronic spinal pain (add severe psoriatic AR + RA) to Xtampza 13.5 twice per day. The pharmaceutical company has played a joke on us with this one. They need to just trash the Xtampza & start all over. I never knew just how well the methadone was working (despite sweats) to lessen my pain until I switched to this garbage."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I been on Oxycontin for 6 years now, of course my PM doc gave me the lowest dose and worked up from there. I am at the maximum amount they will give me which is 80mg 3 X a day plus, Oxy IR 30mgs 3 times a day plus Soma 350mg 3 times a day, it may seem like a lot but over the years my body developed a tolerance to this medicine but now I have been on this same dose for 3 years and it is perfect, no need to take anymore but the bad thing is the DEA inspected my docs office and asked him to switch all of his patients off of Oxycontin to morphine so now I am on the morphine. I am finding that it does not work as good as the Oxycontin."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I was on 4 x 5mg Oxycodone IR for my pain. After a year or so, I felt I needed an extra pill to cover me for 24hrs. Doctor switched me to OxyNeo 2x 10mgs every 12 hours plus 5mg of Oxycodone for breakthrough if needed. The first 2 days I felt great, Oxyneo took care of the pain and I did not feel drowsy or tired. However after the 3rd day, I started feeling very aggitated and angry after I took my oxyneo. I'm not sure what's going on. Has anyone reacted like this to long acting oxycodone? Too bad because I liked this long acting one but feeling angry all day is not worth it either."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "Degenerative Disc Disease. In 20 years I have been through all the medicines a regular doctor can write a prescription for. Once in pain management I started with 10 mg OxyContin twice a day then to 20mg twice a day. Now I am on OxyContin 20mg twice a day. OxyContin has worked for me in the long haul."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I am a double amputee with both hips totally replaced. Degenerative arthritis was the reason for the replacements. I am 64 and oxycodone 10mg. three times daily returned my life to me after 11 surgeries. Four months ago, my PCD (primary care doctor said he could no longer prescribe them. I have been in a wheelchair since the removal. Being in a nursing facility was my only option. I get to see a pain management doctor soon and hope I can get my meds back, along with my life."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "So, my doctor thinks Xtampza ER is the safest choice? Even though plasma levels are hugely dependent on high fat food. I think this drug is dangerous. OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have 7 bulging disks, DDD and AS, on daily pain meds for 7 years. I requested a long acting pain med and had been on oxycodone IR 10mg. x 3 a day. Dr switched me to OxyContin 10 mg 4 per day. AMAZING RESULTS! I no longer feel drugged, I feel like myself again. The IR made me feel drugged and only lasted 3 hours, was a roller coaster all day long. I take 2 in the morning, 1 at 2 pm and 1 at 6 pm. and do not feel like I am on any medication at all, but the pain has gone from an 8 to a 2 (if I don't move) to maybe a 4 or 5 at worst. Able to clean house, shower, do many activities I was unable to do before. I feel so blessed that I have my life back. It seems to give me energy but no other side effects at all. No dry mouth either."
