OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have taken this drug for over 20 years for chronic pain. If I stop 1 person from starting this drug, then this has been worth it. Initially it was the best pain reliever I ever tried. Problem is it is very addictive and stops working. The only way to sustain relief is to increase the dosage. I started at 60 MG and wound up at 200mg. Unfortunately at that dosage over the years causes brain cell deterioration. Remembering things becomes difficult, like family functions. In time you become a walking zombie and numb to everything around you. You will lose interest in life and become drug sick if you Don't take your pill on time. Your relief will no longer be there because it stops working after time. I am off now and have my life back."

For Chronic Pain "I am legally disabled!!! I've been going to the same Pharmacy for years and always get the activist 30 milligram oxycodone. And then about 3 weeks ago they gave me the white Rhodes brand. No pain relief at all, got me nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up, and a constant headaches. Thank goodness I only got a seven-day Supply. So now I'm going to another Pharmacy. The pharmacist is ordering me the 30 mg Mallinckrodt brand. To me the Mallinckrodt brand are the best ones. But my insurance isn't covering them. And I'm paying $105 a week 35 pills. I don't know what else to do because I can't afford this for much longer!!! The rating bar I'm putting a 10 because I'm talking about the Mallinckrodt brand"

For Pain "I normally take oxycodone 10 mg. After hip surgery, I needed a stay at in house rehab facility. I was prescribed oxycodone 10 mg. I noticed immediately this medication was not working at all. The manufacturer was different and was by Rhodes pharmaceuticals. These facilities have contracts to use only this manufacturer. I have reported to management I am receiving no relief from this drug. Any input on who this should be reported to would be helpful. There are long term nursing home patients here that I hear complain that pain meds are giving no relief. I have experienced this first hand. I am fortunate enough to be able to speak out and go home in a month. I hate that elderly people living here are suffering."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis that affects everything in my body (organs and joints) but mainly my lower back. Spinal stenosis, bulging and degenerative discs, severe nerve damage from carpal tunnel in both hands, plus both hips and knees need surgery in the near future also. I take 80mg OxyContin 3 times daily plus Percocet 10mg 3 times daily for breakthrough pain. I have to take my pain medication first thing in the morning before I can take on my day. Have tried MS Contin and it worked fine, just did not last the 12 hours that they say it was suppose to it was more like 6 and Lortabs was like taking a placebo."

For Chronic Pain "My pharmacy also switched to Rhodes oxycodone I had taken the same dosage for years, with excellent pain relief. Then after the brand switch I couldn’t understand why I was constantly sick with no pain relief and developed rashes all over also severe headaches. I was never told anything about taking it with fatty foods. That’s completely absurd!!! I too cannot eat when I’m in pain. Rhodes pharmaceutical should be out of business absolutely no pain relief and terrible side effects. I guess us legitimate pain sufferers, who never abuse or sell our pain medicine, need to start using heroin to get help with pain relief as the government seems to think they deserve a “ GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE “ but we don’t. It’s so frustrating and infuriating!!"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "Until last weekend I had three nights of good sleep. It takes 4 hours (zombie time) to come on. It then helps with pain for 5.5 hours. It is formulated using fatty acids from wax. It does not mix with water, you must eat some fat for it to work, which sucks at bedtime. If I take it just before falling asleep I wake up to pee and then I lay awake for 3-4 hours. If I take it 4 hours before bedtime then I 4 hours to go to sleep. I have found a way to take it and get a good nights sleep! I get up at 5:00 AM, eat a Siggi’s Triple Cream yogurt and a few tablespoons of heavy cream in a glass, take the dose then back to sleep. I wake up at 8:30-9:00 and it’s working. Second dose between 2:00-3:00PM. FWIW (for what it's worth), coconut oil has 14gm of fat per tablespoon. I talked to my Pharmacist and they take the coupon for generic OxyContin and 60 will cost me about $110 a month."

For Chronic Pain "I am prescribed Oxycontin 30mg (oxycodone timed release) 3 times a day and oxycodone IR 5mg 3-4 times a day for breakthrough pain. I suffer from severe trigeminal neuralgia which is horrible pain in the face. They do work really well for pain control. The only issue sometimes is getting my pharmacy to fill them. Some pharmacists look at you like a junkie because you are on pain meds and its annoying. I hate that nonsense! The OxyContin 30mg are soo hard to fill because they are rare and my pharmacy always has to order them which is fine with me. But they do work great for pain. The only bad part is how your body becomes physically dependant on them and you get sick if you dont have them. Its not an addiction but a dependence.Big difference!"

For Chronic Pain "Bottom-line & synopsis: **""RHODES PHARMACEUTICALS oxycodone and possible other medications DO NOT RELIEVE PAIN!*** HOW THEY PASSED THE FDA IS BEYOND ME AND I'M HAPPY TO READ ALL THESE COMMENTS AND I ONLY READ A FEW BUT WE ARE ALL SAYING THE SAME EXACT THING! Even if I don't get in on a lawsuit I hope somebody bring them to their knees -& shuts this company DOWN! I've been taking Rhodes Pharmaceuticals oxycodone anywhere from 2 to 6 months but I've been taking oxycodone off and on for more than 20 years so I consider myself someone who knows the difference when medication is not effective at all"

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Pain "I'm a chronic back pain sufferer who's endured extensize physical therapy, endless pain medicines, muscle relaxers, antiepileptic/antispasmodics, etc., before reluctantly undergoing surgery - Anterior lumbar fusion with posterior stabilization. Unfortunately surgery failed to relieve the pain. OxyContin's been a life-saver for me (80 mg 2/daily Percocet 10/325 for breakthrough pain)- Nothing short of miraculous in it's ability to allow me to perform daily tasks I was unable to perform previously."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Pain "After nearly a year of using 18mg Xtempza (started at 9mg and worked up to 18mg) I’ve found waking an hour early and taking it with high fat yogurt and sleeping another hour leaves me feeling refreshed and on my way. It only seems to work for 6-8 hours so I use 20 mg baclofen and 10 mg oxy for breakthrough between doses. It also helps to use Tylenol in addition as it synergizes both forms. Also, if you can get your BP up for at least 20 minutes by taking a fast paced walk it also helps get the meds into your system much quicker. It’s not always easy but exercise helps in every way if you’re able. It’s not the perfect medicine but without it I would be miserable and likely unable to work and tolerate the cancers and radiation proctitis nearly as well as I am."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "This drug made my nightmare even worse. In the 5 months I was on it, it caused me to gain nearly 60 pounds! Over 10 pounds a month! I had to literally buy bigger clothes every 2 weeks. Thank goodness for thrift stores! As for the pain relief, it didn't do as well as the Opana that I was on prior to the Xtamza. Then Opana was pulled from the market suddenly, though, supposedly in the reaction to the "opioid crisis," so I needed something to replace it, and the doctors gave me Xtamza that fall. I suffered with worse pain relief and rapid weight gain for 5 months, until they finally switched me to something else! I would not suggest this medicine to my worse enemy! You may not suffer from the extreme weight gain like I did. You may get better pain relief than I did. But beware, because some of us have *awful* side effects from this stuff!"

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have been on strong pain medication since 2006 due to 13 spinal surgeries. Fentanyl, MS Contin, Roxicodone, were all effective at 1 point, but side effects and tolerance levels caused me to switch to Oxycontin 40mg 3 times a day, with Roxicodone for break through pain. Finding the correct dosage to avoid withdrawal symptoms was difficult, but finally my body has adjusted. First time in a VERY long time I am almost pain-free, with the least amount of side effects I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have chronic pain in my lower back, and this medication enables me to get out of bed each day and keep working. That said, I don't get the full 12hrs sustained release. For me its more like 9-10hrs relief before I feel it progressively wearing off (and supplement with a small dose of IR Oxycodone). Side effects? Finding the right dosage was tricky. Too little and I was in pain, but too much and I could barely keep my eyes open to function. I was fatigued the whole time and itchy all over. I've now found a stable balance between pain relief and side effects that is workable with the rest of my life. Overall, it's been a miracle medicine for me to relieve debilitating pain. I'm still in my 30's and am too young to be feeling 80 every day."

For Pain "Right now, people who now really NEED opioid pain killers can't get them because doctors are under scrutiny (as some well should be). That is the biggest travesty of this whole thing. Because people have behaved badly on all levels (including people who knowingly abused these drugs), people are suffering, including many elderly who need them for end of life care. The whole thing is beyond shameful"

OxyContin (oxycodone) "I have debilitating pain from RSD, CRPS, Levoscoliosis, Raynaud's Syndrome, Peripheral neuropathy. It can drop me to my knees crying. I was diagnosed in 1997 with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. It has advanced into several forms of nerve damage. I've had many different treatments. I have been on oxycontin and oxycodone for many years. It has given me enough relief to be a productive person with little to no side effects. My doctors have been tapering my medications because the AG and Feds want people off, even if it helps. And insurance does not want to pay anymore. It makes me want to give up. I'm so tired of been dictated as to what is best for me. They are so wrong!"

For Pain "I fill my prescriptions at Walgreens in Florida where it is extremely difficult to get anyone to fill an opioid Rx. I am 66 years old and after breaking my hip was treated like a drug abuser at my local grocery store pharmacy. Walgreens is constantly switching to the cheaper provider. Due to complications I have been on the opioids so long I have to step down to discontinue and now Walgreens has switched again to a weaker version so I have involuntarily stepped down before I can even get started. Walgreens has no consideration how the patient is affected only their profit."

For Chronic Pain "I really believe that the Rhodes generic of oxycodone does not have any oxycodone in the medication- For 5 years I was on Oxycodone 10mg KVK generic..no problems. Now I am lying in bed, unable to get up. The only thing that has changed is that the pharmacy changed to Rhodes 10mg. How they are able to get away with this is madness."

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "In a word...awful. I've been on 2x18mg Xtampza ER for over a month now, after my sadistic insurance co refused to cover Oxycontin, which I've been taking 2x20mg since 07 for severe pelvic floor pain. While Xtampza designed to avert abuse, it most definitely IS NOT designed for any credible chronic pain relief. First and foremost, it's doing very little for my pain. It takes FOREVER, like 2+ hours(!) to work, and lasts 3-4 hours, at best. I'm being generous saying it "works", since it barely takes the edge off my pain. I still have to take breakthrough meds, even while this junk is supposed to be in full effect. I regularly experience strong side effects described by other reviews, including headaches, nausea, sleeplessness and high anxiety. It's amusing to hear the claims of this med being "exactly the same" as Oxycontin - the one thing that actually worked."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Pain "I have been on every ER pain medicine except for methadone. OxyContin is changing my life drastically for the better. I can now walk longer distances, help around the house, play with the kids and much, much more. In short this medicine is a life changer. I switched from fentanyl which always made me tired and grumpy. God bless my patient wife. I have a new life and I'm so grateful!"

Xtampza ER (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I was forced off Oxycontin by my insurance plan and placed on Xtampza and it definitely does not work for my pain as well as oxycontin. I was told they are supposed to be the same medication except for one is tablet and one is capsule, but they are not as far as I (my body) is concerned. Also because this drug is so expensive the pharmacy does not even carry it, I am supposed to call a week or so in advance to make sure they can try to get it shipped in so now I'm facing possible issues of not being able to get my meds when they are due to be filled. This is causing all types of issues and hoops for me to jump through just to get my prescriptions."

For Chronic Pain "KVK Tech immediate release Oxycodone does not work at all. After spending a horrific month in serious withdrawal and out of control pain I started researching to find why this medication was not working. I found that in November 2017 KVK Tech changed formula of IR Oxycodone to an "Abuse Deterrent" version that literally rendered the medication useless. The active ingredient is not being delivered once in the body due to the abuse deterrent properties. It's absolute garbage no better than a sugar pill. Once again they cater to addicts while legitimate pain suffers pay the price."

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Pain "I lived in torture for years after back and neck surgery failed. Like a fool I refused to take narcotic medicine until I started studying their intrinsic effects on people. For the past 4 yrs I've been taking Oxycontin, now 320 mgs/day, and I can only thank God for these little green miracles. I've never felt "high" on them. I take them to function, PERIOD. "

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "Severely hurt my neck all the way to my lower back. Was recently prescribed 30mg IR twice daily. I want to say this: For people suffering tremendous excruciating pain it is an amazing excellent medication because it takes my pain away right away. However, for me it is way to strong and can’t function on it and when taken at night I can’t wake up in the morning. I have made an appointment to go back to my doctor and go back on Vicodin. To anyone reading: please don’t abuse or take unless you really need it, and for those taking it just to get high out there, stop! You are ruining it for the responsible people suffering and are risking their well being for your selfish actions. I was responsible enough it was too strong for me. Please listen!!!"

OxyContin (oxycodone) for Chronic Pain "I have been taking Oxy ER 20mg 3x day plus up to 8 Oxy IR 5mg for the past 7 years. It has been a Godsend for me. I was in bad car accident in 2008 in which I suffered from a bruised spinal cord plus it worsened already bad Degenerative Disc Disease,Arthritis and Spinal Stenosis. In June 2009 I had a spinal fusion on my neck levels 5-7. After both I was left with horrible arm , shoulder and neck pain and mobility issues in my neck. I work a lot on the computer and meeting with people, If not for the medication I would not be able to work. I still have some pain but it is more of a tolerable background pain instead of a full nerve toothache Please folks use responsibly, many of us need it to live and function. I worry it will go away"
