For Oral Thrush "So I was given Nystan for Oral Thrush to try as fluconazole hadn't quite nipped it on the head. I was taking it as prescribed, I didn't think it tasted bad... Like Marzipan I thought. However, my tongue kept getting worse and worse and worse, I then began being sick. I stopped the Nystan as per GP orders and they wanted to swab my tongue. However 1 day in it has practically cleared up!"

For Oral Thrush "Hello, I have been told to take nystatin to clear up oral thrush I accidentally gave myself from using a steroid based nose spray to help with night time allergies. I didn’t rinse my mouth out because I didn’t know this could happen from using a nose spray. I foolishly got the nose spray from chemist without seeing a doctor first. My question to everyone using nystatin is how long do you keep it in your mouth gurgling or swishing until swallowing? The directions on the bottle says for as long as possible but I’m unsure what that means."

For Oral Thrush "It's about day 3 for me with the 100,000 units/ml suspension, a light yellow liquid. First time taking this, and first time with the condition. Yes, it does sting some when it first comes in contact with my tongue area. Especially on the visible bump and also a milder sting on the parts not seen. Instructions on the bottle are to swish and swallow 4 times daily. I called the pharmacy back, then they said to gargle it and maybe only swish for 2 minutes. (haha, I was doing 5 whole minutes) At least it doesn't sting that long, but the bottle given is large, syringe is short! Lol, I didn't think about that until the stuff started getting lower in the bottle. I will be looking around somewhere to find a longer syringe. I don't know why it didn't come with the right size! Really? I tell you, America... I feel like it's working - ever so slowly. So far no side effects, so that's a blessing. I will try to come back to do an update later when the medicine is finished. (this bottle is supposed to last 25 days.)"

For Gastrointestinal Candidiasis "I went on a ketogenic diet for a year before ingesting 1 mL of Nystatin 4x per day for 14 days. The thing I really screwed up on leading up to taking Nystatin was uncontrollable sugar consumption. After learning about candida, it makes sense because candida consumes massive amounts of sugar before your cells can even use it for energy. The most important thing when taking Nystatin for candida is no sugar, no carbs, no fruit, no honey. Nothing sweet. The first week of Nystatin was rough. There were a couple of days I could barely hold myself up. But then, miraculously, I started having huge amounts of energy when the candida started dying about 10 days in. I have a very low body weight and didn't consume carbs at all for about 3 years before taking it. So, if you are coming straight from a carb-heavy diet, it's probably not going to work. Do a strict carnivore diet 2-3 months before taking it so you don't waste your time."

For Oral Thrush "This stuff is awful. I took three bottles and the thrush didn’t go away. I had a terrible headache which is caused by nystatin that irritated the brain, had a stiff neck, and was sure I was going to the hospital. I have had this for three months and am now going to see an infectious disease doctor. I urge you to not use this."

For Oral Thrush "I developed oral thrush after being on antibiotics and methylprednisolone for oral surgery. I was prescribed nystatin rinse and was told to rinse and spit and do not swallow, which I followed. It almost immediately made me dizzy and lightheaded. My stomach was upset and gurgling. After the second time taking it, I had diarrhea 3 times. My surgeon couldn’t understand how I could get diarrhea and GI upset if I wasn’t swallowing… but I was. It was clear when my stool was orangey-yellow like nystatin. I was then advised to stop and try fluconazole. Currently taking that with no issues (only taken it twice) and improvement but still working on it."
