"I was prescribed MetroGel for BV, took the medication for 5 days like it said and Sunday night was my last dose and that week end on Saturday I had a drink. I only had the one and I got sick that night. I figured that was just from the alcohol. But I woke up the next morning and felt nauseous. And through out the day, my nausea kept getting so much worse. I was running to the bathroom every 10-15mins to throw up. Tingly hands. Hot face. Dizzy. I had an idea it was because of the metronidazole, but all the forums I checked says wait at least 72 hours. For me, it seems the medicine was still in my system for 5 days. I thought I’d be fine but no. I wanted to share because I feel soooo sick & I wanted to complain but also let someone know. Do not drink, don’t risk it. It feels worse than a hangover. & to be safe I would wait a week before drinking. Don’t be like me."

Nuvessa (metronidazole) "When I was first subscribed Nuvessa for BV, I was a bit skeptical at first. Nothing worked in my favor because BV would always come back. With using this I could even having unprotected sex with my boyfriend, and all is good, I saw no evidence of BV. and usually my PH used to be thrown off after sex."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "A few months ago I had BV and it was a moderate case. My symptoms were musty smell and discharge that would soak through my pants. I took the gel and the discharge was mostly gone and the smell was somewhat better. After about a month my doctor said I still had bv but it was mild (slight discharge and I smelled like musty flowers) I thought the gel would make the smell go away. WRONG. After using the gel, I still have bv and now I have a TREATMENT RESISTANT YEAST INFECTION. This made my life far worse and my self esteem even worse than it was before. The only thing that worked for me in the past is probiotics. I opened one pill and put it where the sun don't shine and didn't get bv for a year until I had a new sex partner. However they must have sold the company or something because now the same brand doesn't work anymore and none of the other brands work either."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "For the longest time I’ve battled with BV. I wanna say 3-4 years now. I always thought my pH was out of whack! Which I know BV makes it out of whack too. Anyhow, finally went to a doctor did a test and sure enough - BV. I got the antibiotic pill form. Worked great! And then I got it againnn! - It slowly started to get worse so again, went back got the pill medication again. & then Just recently - I do a telemed call because I already knew what it was - what I was experiencing I refuse to throw my legs in the air again and put them uncomfortable tongs inside me again lol was given a yeast infection pill, and a generic version pill of the Flagyl. I noticed it didn’t do crap. It didn’t clear it up! Do another appt. was finally offered the gel! Never knew it existed & I'm so happy I got it! Day 4 of treatment and I noticed major diff. By day 2! I’ve had no side effects :) 10/10"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I am in my late teens and I am currently using the metro gel. I am on my second day of using it twice a day. I have had very little side effects. I have had mild headache to no headache but very faint. That is about the only side affect that I have had from using this product so far and it is very helpful"

"I have been suffering with burning that I would rate at it's worse a 10. I have been to the doctor 9 times in the last 4 months for the same symptoms and prescribed several creams, hormonal creams etc. (I believe it caused the BV). I told anyone who would listen to me that I had an infection. I was told it was menopause and I would be fine. Finally, and happily diagnosed with BV. Took a round of Metrogel for 5 nights and 48 hours later symptoms returned. Again, diagnosed with BV. I am now on my 2nd dose of 5 nights. For me it's difficult to say if the Metrogel is causing the burning or because it is an antibiotic may cause burning in the vulva/vaginal area but should subside. After this round if it should return my Gynecologist suggested that I try ( sounds weird) Boric Acid Suppositories. The dr. said it is a natural product and has proven to put the vaginal PH balance back and cure it. I wanted to share this in case it is the simple cure."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I've been on the gel for 3 days... First diagnosed with a UTI with no growth. Finished Cipro and still had symptoms. Second round- pelvic exam & swab... Still had bacteria & yeast so was prescribed metro gel. No side effects - but hasn't helped my issue. Waiting for 2nd culture to come back to see if still UTI and wasn't sensitive to the Cipro and need something new. Pains from hell"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I will have to give the Metro-gel a 10 out of 10, simply because it worked exactly as intended and cleared up BV probably within the first two days but I finished the 5 day course and everything is brand new and healthy. Yes, it had side effects and fortunately not nearly as extreme as some other users. Mine were: a bit of crampy feeling starting around day 4, some of the gel coming out from down there in this thick clearish ooze with a tinge of pink here and there (probably some kind of tissue or blood) but not enough to alarm me, starting around day 3, and usually at night. Day 5 was the worst, I had really dull constant cramp feeling overnight and it went away within 24 hours since there were no more doses left. Other overall symptom was a bit of a loss of appetite which is whatever. I read a lot of reviews and to avoid any yeast infections or some other imbalances, I started a probiotic targeting vaginal health immediately on day 6."

"I’ve been waiting to share my experience so here I am. First of all I had the metronidazole gel just sitting in my dresser for at least 3 months terrified because of the reviews I read, like literally i was just gonna accept it hoping it was going to go away ( I read them ALL by the way) anyways, I finally got sick of dealing with bv, the smell was terrible some days like I could smell it through my pants it was so embarrassing. I finally got the courage one night after a nice hot shower to start the five day process. My only and ONLY side effects were headaches and a little nauseous. My first day the smell was completely gone, I had no chunky white discharge. I noticed very tiny cramps ( no pain) The tube was a tad bit painful to get up there. But that was it. To all the ladies suffering with BV , take the gel !!! it works !! Don’t let the bad experiences control u."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Very painful BV infection so I got tested and was prescribed MetroGel-Vaginal for 7 days. I accidentally had alcohol during a family dinner and felt horrible and super bloated after and wanted to puke. The discharge and smell are horrible! Very white clumpy discharge and strong urine smell. This is natural and just your body getting rid of the nastiness. Nothing about this is pleasant but it is what it is."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I went to the doctor due to noticing a sweet smell or ammonia type smell when I would urinate. I thought the problem was underlying disease like diabetes. They tested me and BV is what fit. I have just finished my final dose last night out of 5 days. The thick white discharge seems to be a common thing but the smell of my urine specifically hasn't changed which is what led me to the doctor. Anyone else have a similar experience?"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I’ve used this medication twice. Once when I was around 19, and once now at 23. I don’t remember having side effects the first time, but this time I’ve got immediate intense bloating, cramping, and nausea. I’ve never felt this uncomfortable before, even during menstruation. I can’t attest to the effectiveness because both this time and last time I didn’t feel any symptoms of BV to start with, which just makes these side effects worse knowing they’re not going to lead to some kind of relief."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Started the gel 3 days ago, had my wisdom teeth out 2 days before I got the gel for BV, my stomach started hurting and I thought maybe because I haven’t pooped since the pain pills backed me up, pooped yesterday but had very bad pelvic cramps last night and stomach pain all day today. Also have runny nose and cough. The stomach cramps hurt really bad but the gel worked the first application. I do like it but the side effects are awful. I just push through the pain."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I had BV and a yeast infection and had no idea. I noticed something was wrong because I completely stopped getting discharge, and I used to have fertile clear discharge, but I did not have it for months. After the first use, the BV smell was completely gone, and I could tell that my vagina was cleansing itself again. There was lots of discharge (white and clear). I feel better already. I'm also taking probiotics with it and will take a yeast infection antibiotic after I finish the gel. I eat healthy and try to stay very clean down there, so I'm not sure how I got it. But I've had it off and on over the past few years. 29 y/o."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I was diagnosed with BV. I seem to get it every 2 years, but now I'm getting symptoms. I was treated in October for BV with this gel. It is really gross. Because you're inserting gel, that all comes out at some point. Which is the worst. Having all that stuff between your legs when you're trying to go through your day. Well I finished that, to immediately get a yeast infection. Which they don't tell you. But 9x out of 10 you get a yeast infection. So I treated that. To only still have BV when I went to my annual in Dec. Looks like I'll be doing this again.... At the point, I feel like its a whole lot of suffering for nothing."

"I’ve had many recurrences from bacterial vaginitis (BV) and it usually happens after sex or after I get my period. Extremely annoying and the pills prescribed for it make me feel horrible and I don’t even want to get out of bed on those days. I just tried the gel and I honestly love it so far, very mild cramping but my periods also around the corner and have had no issues besides my vagina seems a little swelled whenever I insert or afterwards which is kind of expected. The gel is clear and it isn’t anything crazy to clean or any of that. Highly recommend if you don’t like taking the pills."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Ouchhhh. I was prescribed this for BV I put the gel in and immediately had cramping similar to a period and a little burning. After the second night I woke up and the outside of my vagina was raw and it itched. It gave me a yeast infection. I stopped using it. I refuse to use this ever again. Seems like it made it worse."

"First off, I usually view the reviews of all the medication I take so I know what to prepare for. Reading these reviews for metronidazole spiked my anxiety to the MAX. I had suspicions I had an infection as there was an awful odor down there after I would have sex and I would just smell not pleasant, so I made an appointment to see my doctor. Screening indicated I had BV. My doctor prescribed the cream and I am so glad she did. I have a very sensitive stomach so every little thing makes me nauseous. I am on my second night of this cream and so far so good! I don't know if the minor side effects (fatigue, light nausea) was just me since I work long days or it was the medication but it seems to do the job! There was a little cottage cheese discharge throughout the day but not heavy (maybe start of vag YI as well)! No smell at all or itchiness! I will be taking probiotics everyday or every other day to help me avoid getting a yeast infection with this medication. I will further update you all!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I completed my 7 days. The first day I did get a fast heartbeat but maybe it was my anxiety, so when that happen I just lay down and relaxed and let it pass. But after that the rest of the 6 days I just had nausea/upset tummy but besides that everything was good. I was worried I wasn't gonna get my period but after the treatment I got my period on time, so don't worry the treatment doesn't mess up period schedule."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Light yellow/light green discharge. Urine NEG for UTI. Trich, Chlamydia, & Gonnorhea -. NEG. Yeast candida - NEG. Gardernella - (BV) POSITIVE. 5 days, insert gel @ night SIDE EFFECTS DAYS: 2 - Stuffy nose, sore throat, headache 3 - Same as day two 4 - Runny nose, congestion, slight sore throat & headache upon awakening 5 - Congestion, no headache No odor during the infection, only discharge. Always take a vaginal probiotic, maybe that helped combat any odor. Had a couple of White Claws each night with ZERO SIDE EFFECTS. No sex until medicine is done & there is no discharge. I believe it's due to unprotected sex, NO ejaculation. pH still becomes unbalanced. No BV issues if I'm not having sex. Also, just bought Balance Active BV treatment gel for the future. 1st time using & all reviews were extremely positive. Don't think the Scientists work hard enough on a permanent be solution. But, at least there are temporary fixes for now I suppose."

"I'm 28 years old and have never had any issues down there other than a yeast infection, but I noticed I was having a lot of milky white, odorless discharge. I went in for a check up just in case. Dr said I have BV and prescribed the MetroGel. I'm on night 3, and I'm having huge clumps of thick white discharge, a light burning when I pee, and weakness. I feel like it could be causing a yeast infection as well. I'm on oral antibiotics for a UTI too, so I'm not sure which symptoms are from the gel.""

"I was diagnosed with BV and recently prescribed metronidazole gel. After just 1 application I became extremely sick! Started with extreme bloating and nausea, and dizziness during the day... by the end of the night I had started coughing and having a sore throat. Did not sleep the entire night, was coughing violently all night into the next day, all day and night again the next. The second night, (I had already stopped the medicine the night before) I had excruciating body pain, the shakes, and extreme hot and cold flashes. Took all I had not to rush myself to the hospital! Literally thought I was going to die... I had never been so extremely hot before in my life! Needless to say, I beg of anyone DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE!!!! SO not worth it... terrifying experience!"
