"I have been taking meloxicam for more than 9 years for knees, 4 herniated discs, and a damaged coccyx. I tried all types of meds but had no relief. The only time I stop taking them is when I have a surgical procedure, and then I'm a cripple for a week until I start back on."

"I was given meloxicam by my podiatrist when he discovered a foot neuroma. After taking it for a week or two, I noticed all my osteoarthritis areas had stopped hurting as well - hands, knees, legs. I felt totally pain-free. A few weeks later, I skipped taking it accidentally for a few days and all pain returned. I am now back on it for life, and it's so inexpensive."

"Only took meloxicam 4 times. At first, I felt it may be working a bit. I think the doc gave a starter dose. I gained 2 lbs. This morning, I woke up still in lots of pain in my back, as usual. I am not interested in gaining more weight and getting into stage I obesity again. The pain relief is not any better than OTC medicine. All in all, I’ll muscle through my pain without this med. I don’t like the risk profile either, internal bleeding - oh no, big deal. Not! No thanks, next."

Mobic (meloxicam) "Several years ago, I was put on Mobic for right knee problems—bone on bone. When I finally needed a knee replacement, I had to go off Mobic for a week before the surgery. Immediately, I got creaky and all my joints hurt and ached. It hurt to walk even a short distance. At that point, I realized what a blessing Mobic is. I thought that if some of my deceased relatives had Mobic, they might have lived longer. I remember how badly they suffered, and I understand. The pain was unbearable. I'm still on it. I am 65."

"I suffer from intermittent pain in the left knee, right hip, and upper right leg. To compound my problems, I work in facility maintenance and therefore spend most of the day on my feet. The best way I can describe my experience with meloxicam is this: At the end of the day, you know your pain is there, but somehow your brain is masked from the pain. You know you want to limp, but you actually feel no reason to. You expect the affected area to be swollen, feverish, and tight, but you still have flexibility and no major discomfort. For me, applying a cold compress for a few minutes works wonders for the rest of the evening. Also, take the medication at the same time daily."

"75 yrs old and I thought that I had to learn to live with the constant ache and debilitating stiffness from osteoarthritis in neck, back, thumbs, knees, and ankles. After all, there are many more people worse off. Mobic is a magic pill - only 7.5 mg once or 2xs a day and I have my life back. I can exercise, do household chores, and stand longer than 10 or 15 minutes to cook or do dishes."

"I started meloxicam a month ago for right knee pain. It has helped with all the other body aches and pains I was not treated for. I am concerned with possible side effects, but I have decided that I enjoy feeling young and pain-free again. I pray it continues."

"The 7.5 mg dose of meloxicam was ineffective, but the 15 mg dose reduces my chronic OA pain by 50%. I only take it 3 or 4 days per week when pain is worst. The only side effect so far has been mild indigestion."

Mobic (meloxicam) "I have arthritis in feet, right knee, both hands, and right elbow. When both Vioxx and Bextra were taken off the market, I had to turn to Vicodin to relieve pain, but was so afraid of addiction I did not take it very often. Then the doctor tried me on Meloxicam. It's much easier to function, does a great job on the swelling, and an adequate job on the pain for the most part. No side effects, and still not as good as Vioxx, but it's better than over the counter, and better than an opiate."

"I have osteoarthritis in my fingers, thumbs, and both shoulders from 40 years of factory work. I have been taking Meloxicam for 2 and a half years. Without it, I don't think I could continue working. I take one 15 mg pill every morning, and it gives me relief all day. I get minor pain in the evening, but nothing I can't handle. I tried going off of Meloxicam due to reading about the risks of long-term use, but my pain came back with a vengeance. I tried Aleve twice a day instead. It didn't work as well for the pain, and it was harder on my stomach. My rheumatologist said I had to weigh the risk factors and side effects of long-term use of Meloxicam with my quality of life, so I am choosing Meloxicam because it works for me, and it's inexpensive."

"Been taking this for a while! I initially was taking OTC meds for the pain when I was 305 lbs. I cut my weight down to 265 lbs. Now that I’m taking meloxicam, my weight has gone back up to 278 lbs. Same diet with changes here and there and changes in workout (losing weight steadily) BUT NOW 13 lbs!!! In just a month!!!! I’ll take OTC. I doubt it works, for me anyhow, STILL WAS IN PAIN."

"Very effective in masking pain from my osteoarthritis. Felt mild stomach discomfort during initial use (first 3 days) but effective almost immediately (within first 30 minutes!) for pain relief. Stomach discomfort is not recurrent. The most effective medication I've ever used for any pain-specific rx."

"I am a 58-year-old female with chronic right knee and periodic low back/sciatica worsened with prolonged sitting at a computer, driving, etc. A lateral meniscectomy with synovial and patella repair helped until it was time to resume life, i.e. gym, dancing, activity. Cortisone and hyaluronic injections in the knee did nothing for me. Started this med 72 hours ago. Within 24 hours, I realized my knee, back, in fact, head to toe feels 'normal'. No aches, pains, side effects. Walked 4 miles yesterday, riding my bike today. Hallelujah, I did not think I would ever feel this good as another ortho doc had told me to just 'live with it'."

Mobic (meloxicam) "I have had a knee problem for almost a year now - going through regular fluid build-up. Went through drainage, cortisone shots, then Synvisc - knee keeps swelling. Finally, they did an MRI and ordered arthroscopic surgery. The doctor who will be doing the surgery put me on Mobic to reduce swelling, and the knee has felt the best it has felt in almost a year. Ironic - this is two weeks before surgery. I have been on other anti-inflammatories before, and this one worked."

Mobic (meloxicam) "I've only been on this med for a few days. I had a scope of my right knee 5 months ago and the arthritis is advancing quickly and severely. In the past month, I started having pain in my shoulders, wrists, and left hip. I'm a nurse and cannot take opioids/narcotics for relief. I was taking more ibuprofen than I could count! I took my first Mobic and not an ibuprofen since. I've been able to sleep, not be tied down by a clock for pain, and have more mobility than I've known in months! I'm grateful. I'm closely watching for side effects & scheduled lab work to check blood levels & liver function in 6 weeks. For the first time in a long time, I'm hopeful."

"On a scale of 1 to 10, my knee pain was a 25! Constant pain. I actually thought I would end up in a wheelchair. A friend suggested I try meloxicam, as it had worked for him. OMG. It took almost a week to work, but once it kicked in, it performed a miracle. Before that, I couldn't find a comfortable position... it had me in tears, and I am a strong person... I cannot believe the relief. 10 STARS! THANK YOU MELOXICAM!"

"I took this drug for about 5 days as directed for low back arthritis. I became despondent about my life and did not immediately connect this feeling to meloxicam. When I got to thinking about it, I checked the side effects, and the oddly specific and very accurate 'discouragement' was a side effect. I'm a tough kid, oilfield worker, long-time rugby player, etc., and I'm not kidding when I tell you there was a three-day period there where I honestly felt like I was an inch from crying. I probably would have been crying if I just wasn't so tired of life and going nowhere, etc. (Mind you, this was during the oil boom, so I was doing great.) I removed myself from the med and started to be my old sunny self within a day or two."

"Took meloxicam for 2 weeks. Helped with the pain, but I noticed stomach swelling. Woke up one night with severe stomach cramps. I passed out in the bathroom. I had to be taken to the hospital. I had stomach bleeding. I lost 2 pints of blood and had a stomach ulcer. This drug is dangerous."

"I was prescribed this for a car accident, but I kept taking it because it surprised me by erasing about 85% of my sacroiliac pain. The pain had grown so gradually that I was in deep denial about it, even after the car wreck made it 10 times worse. Then all of a sudden it was mostly gone, and I just broke down and cried from the miraculous relief - I'm able to be physically active again even with unfixable injuries. I have a few side effects: dizziness when standing quickly, and my blood pressure keeps trying to creep up, but the good greatly outweighs the bad still. I've had a gastrectomy, which means I'm at greater risk of stomach bleeding, so I'm worried about the potential stomach side effects that increase the longer you take it, but nothing bad yet."

"I was prescribed Mobic for C-3-4-5 herniated disc repair, plate screws, and fusion post-surgery meds. This was a horrible drug for me. I swelled in my face, hands, and feet, so much so I looked like a different person. Water retention maximized! Then, complicating matters, is the weight gain! I gained 15 pounds in 2 months! I am a petite 110 lb woman. The added weight raised my blood pressure and I needed to see a cardiologist and get prescription meds to return me back to where I started! I would NOT recommend this medication. Since then, my pain is managed and monitored by prescription pain meds not NSAIDs."

"This medication is great! It relieved my knee pain significantly. I'm now able to get up out of chairs and walk much more easily. It has been a lifesaver for me. I will use it until I get my knee replacement. My pain level has gone from 10 to 2. Minor side effects for me."

"My doctor prescribed Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet to me in March 2021 when a Baker's cyst in my knee burst. I've had osteoarthritis for at least 10 years, and my knee pain has been getting worse. I am 5'9" and weigh between 152-160 lbs, not overweight. I am a competitive runner in my age group, and when I took it for the healing of the Baker's cyst, my knee pain just disappeared. After the Baker's cyst healed, I continued to take Meloxicam occasionally as needed for knee pain. It works very well and with no side effects, as others have mentioned in their reviews, none! It allowed me to continue running competitively. I am now 66 (2023) and have stopped running to prolong my ability to hike and bike without undue knee pain, but I still take Meloxicam when my knees get too painful, and it still works without any side effects. It is a very small pill, easy to swallow, easy to use, and you don't have to be concerned about food or caffeine (I like my caffeinated tea!) when you take Meloxicam. Great stuff taken in moderation."

Mobic (meloxicam) "Suffering from severe pain in shoulder, elbow, and base of right thumb. The pain was constant. My doctor tried several medicines and NSAIDs to no effect. Yesterday he prescribed Mobic and by yesterday evening I was essentially pain-free. This morning I am totally pain-free, with a new attitude on life."

"I am 46 years old and have been battling arthritis for years. Both knees, left foot, and right elbow. After I started taking meloxicam (1 year now), I noticed a difference. In the past year, I went back to playing flag football, ping pong, and softball. I recently stopped taking meloxicam just to see what would happen. I noticed that my right knee started to swell the day after I played flag football. My time frame was one week off the medication to back on it. I have played over 30 games of flag football and countless games of ping pong without any pain, as well as no elbow pain playing softball on meloxicam. I strongly suggest that you drink liquids and have a bite of food while taking this medicine. I do and have no side effects. Thanks"

"I've been on meloxicam twice. The first time was 15 mg. It helped the pain, but I had a lot of problems with water retention, and I gained 15 lbs. I went off the med because of the side effects. It took 2 months, but I lost the 15 lbs. My new doctor put me back on it, but at 7.5 mg. I am again going off it because of significant water retention, and I have gained the 15 lbs back. To me, the swelling of my hands and feet from water retention and the weight gain are not worth the benefits for my arthritis. I'll stick with Aleve."
