"Physicians are way too excited about Linzess. It definitely does not work for everyone and not exactly as indicated. The first three days I took it were fine. Then no effect for two days. Then incredible pain. I asked the doctor if I could try a lower dose. Was advised to take it at bedtime!? Definitely not a good idea when part of the problem was extreme diarrhea. Quit taking it for two weeks. Went back and tried one tablet. Dizziness, wobbly, weakness, malaise. Does it treat constipation, yes. But it is a guanylate cyclase agonist , so, of course, it has systemic effects. When are too many side effects too much to even put a drug on the market?"

"I tried everything. Diet, exercise, teas, fiber supplements, miralax, amitiza (rx). This is the only one that has worked immediately and effectively. I am out of commission for two hrs after taking which has to be on an empty stomach so I'm only taking on weekends now. No headaches, nausea, or other I'll effects like when I took amitiza or miralax. Hope this keeps working long term"

"Well this is my Moms second bottle. It worked for her but then every thing stop for her. She keeps saying her stomach feels tight and her stomach doesn’t feel good. I just can’t believe these dr giving this meds out. They gave it to mom for IBS but I was so upset because they didn’t even check her for IBS. they just assumed she has it. As well they charge so much for it. May 25, 2020"

"I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome at the age of fifteen; I've suffered with this for five years taking laxatives, fleet enemas, suppositions. I was recently put on Linzess to help with the pain and discomfort of it all. I have followed the directions and waited thirty minutes before eating. Linzess does work for me; however, it does cause me slight abdominal pain and diarrhea. I talked to my doctor about these side effects and he said, " They will subside within two weeks." He was right, this medication has been a total life changer for me."

"My experience with this medication has been absolutely horrible!! I have been taking it for 2 months, I have severe bloating, gas, and bad diarrhea. Can't even leave my home. My doctor told me to cut back to one pill every other day, and its like it has completely stopped working I have bad pain and nothing coming out! I have had ins-c for 14 years, and I just wish they could come up with something that works and that's not so harsh on your bowels! It's absolutely terrible!!!"

"I am a 69 yr old female who has suffered through IBS-C for 15 yrs. In the past few months, the constipation became so severe that I developed an impacted bowel twice in six weeks. Following my 2nd experience with fecal impaction, my doctor started me on the highest dose, 290 mcg, daily. After adapting to how it works ... (predictable movement within 2 to 3 hrs) I am very pleased. Yes, there are watery stools and on occasion, a few other small discharges throughout the day, but as one review said “you plan for it” (as best you can). One side effect that I have not seen mentioned is that of an itchy rash. My entire midriff section has been moderately itchy since I started LINZESS. The rash has gone, but the itch remains. Overall, I am very pleased with the effective results I experience with LINZESS and the quality of life it brings."

"I have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome for a while now and it seemed that no matter what I took it never helped. I would say this pill works a little too well. I take it and exactly 2 hours later I'm rushing to the toilet. I only take it once a week because the day I do take it, I'm on the toilet. I can't stress enough that plan a day near the toilet! Makes me feel 100x better though."

"I have had problems with bloating and pain for a couple of years now. When I go back to my GI doctor, I told him that what I was on was not working anymore. So he suggested I try Linzess. At first, I was scared out of my mind. But if I was going to get some relief, I'm going for it. It's only been a couple of days now and I can truly say I feel so much better. I'm having a normal bowel movement without pain. I'm in heaven. I just hope it continues to work for me. I'm so glad to know that there are other people out there going through this. Thanks for sharing."

"Awful, just awful. Took for 5 days. Medication took 5 days to "work". When it finally had worked I spent the next 4 hours on the toilet with pure liquid diarrhea. And everytime I took it 30 minutes after taking it my bowels would have what felt like a seizure for about 10-20 minutes."

"I have suffered my entire life with bathroom issues. I wouldn't have a bowel motion from anywhere between 3 to 9 days and when I did go, I would be doubled over with spasms, back and stomach pain as if I was giving birth and feeling like I never fully empty my bowels. Took the 145 mg Linzess, drank 2- 8 ounce of water, waited 30 to 45 minutes to eat my bagel and cream cheese. Within an hour had a normal bowel motion with ease.... but then you get explosive diarrhea for the next 2 to 3 hours and its all over. about 4 trips. But stay by the bathroom cuz it works that good to CLEAN you out. No pain, no cramps. More water, the better the result and you don't want to get dehydrated. The next day I had so much energy. I only take it once or twice a week. I couldn't take it every day becuz of my schedule. But this is a miracle drug. I will gladly deal with the explosive diarrhea over the not being able to go and being doubled over for hours. I highly recommend Linzess! I love it. Its helped me sooo much. Thanks LINZESS"

"I love love this medication! After suffering from IBS for years, I am now normally everyday going to the bathroom the first couple weeks was a lot of diarhea and not going far from the bathroom, but after my body got used to it, I was fine. I would recommend this highly to anyone suffering from ibs-c"

"I have struggled with severe constipation (IBS-C) for years. NOTHING worked... fiber, laxatives, Rex meds. Linzess worked TOO well and painfully. I can't leave the house after taking this. I read on one reviewers post to try Nopalina... I thought, why not, I've tried everything else. It definitely helped. I take Nopalina capsules everyday as directed, and drink LOTS of water and sometimes add Miralax to my routine (if needed). Changed my life!!!"

"I took Linzess earlier this year when I was constipated constantly from IBS and gastroparesis. It either gave me diarrhea or didn't work. Then my bowels normalized for a while so I quit taking it. About two weeks ago, the constipation started again, so I began taking it again. This time it was wonderful. I haven't had diarrhea; instead, it gives me a regular bowel movement each day and I don't have to stay at my house for several hours after I take it to make sure I stay near a bathroom. I'm on the higher dose of it. This is the way I had hoped it would work from the beginning."

"I don’t know how anyone can tolerate this. I know everyone is different. Began on 290 mg and it took many days to work, but when it did oh boy. I didn’t make it to the bathroom. Now I started on 72 mg and day 2 I did go and am sick to my stomach. This inconsistency of it working just won’t cut it. I also can’t be sick for the day when it works. Being constipated and other IBS symptoms are better than this."

"I have been on Linzess for a while now. Its effectiveness is hit or miss. Some days it doesn't work at all; I experience five consecutive hours of diarrhea on the days it actually moves the bowels. Never, ever take this medication before going to bed! For the first time in my life, I have developed kidney stones. A new Phase IV clinical study provided data that 86% of the participants who developed kidney stones while on Linzess were women, and 67% of those who developed stones developed them within 1-6 months of taking Linzess. I am going back to Sennokot S at night. It works fine without causing kidney stones and hours of diarrhea."

"Today was my first day taking the Linzess. I took it at 7:30am and had my first bathroom visit at 11:30am and after I was done I had really bad cramps that lasted a few minutes, but after that I have felt good. I have not used the bathroom anymore, so I will have to see what tomorrow brings, but today was a good day."

"Iv'e tried this medicine three times . The first and second time had no response . The third time I had major gas bloating diarhea , chest pain and shortness of breath sweating and anxiety major fatigue so bad I could not function. I took myself off this and felt better . Never again . I also gained water weight I have no diabetes or thyroid issues . I couldnt even eat I would bloat so bad so why the weight gain in five days ? I'll go back to Miralax. I have IBS-C . Wish they would bring Zelnorm back it was the only thing that worked with no side effects"

"I absolutely love this drug. I suffer from IBS Constipation and also have to to take pain medicine for back pain which does NOT help my constipation problems. I tried all kinds of things, including multiple suppositories and this is the only thing that would work. I am so thankful for this drug!! It works for me usually within an hour."

"It worked from the first day but I also had at least one episode a day of severe D I used it for 22 days and then called the manufacurer for some input The said D was the usual complaint when there was a complaint and they had no recommendations except to speak to my doctor I decided to try it every other day and have done that only for the last 4 days There is a slight improvement. Very slight in the D attacks I will do this for the next 3 weeks (using it every other day ) and then see what point I am at. I no longer get these terrible painful IBS C attacks where I thought I was going to die from the pain. No more blood in the John. The doctor told me to take the Lizness with Colace and Senna but I was afraid to do that."

"I suffer with bloating, constipation, abdominal cramping too. My social life, was gone, I afraid take vacation with my husband, because if I ate something it goes right thru me no warning at all. I spend all my time in the house in the bathroom 8 hours or more trying have complete bowel motion. I still didn't get good results I still had urge to GO. This was a everyday routine for me. I had been battling with this problem for 6yrs, I had colonoscopy, in 2015, everything was normal but I still wasnt having complete bowel motion. I talked to my Doctor, he had me try different laxatives none of them work finally he refer me to GI Doctor, she gave samples of Linzess 290mg, to try Linzess 290mg, changed my whole life. The best thing to ever happen to me I have no regret! I take it every morning with hot cup of coffee, full glass of water. Two months later and its still working for me. The trick is drinking plenty water the more water the better results. THE HAPPY LADY!!!..."

"Dr gave me a sample to see if it would relieve my ibs-c. Although I couldn't afford the prescription, I was very impressed with how well linzess worked in my case. "I'm suspicious of so many positive reviews because the pharm company has a vested interest in their drug appearing ad a good product. My experience has not been so good. Although the drug worked for me, it caused severe vomiting, headache, and stomach pain. I wouldn't take the drug again due to the pain level but it could be that it was an isolated experience."

"I shared my experience in June/2016 when I started taking Linzess & it was great at first. Unfortunately, the diarrhea continued every day and my stomach got big & bloaty, headaches & acne!? I tried every second day, at night, with more water but as time went on the side effects got worse. I was going to the bathroom, but not completely, with all the water & gas remaining inside. I read posts about weight gain and watched myself carefully, everything I ate and worked out but suddenly noticed I was "puffy". I realized I was dehydrated from the Linzess and I stumbled across an acticle saying "dehydration slows down metabolism"! I also started feeling a little down, I got off & back to my old drug Resolor! Side effects gone & I feel better!"

"I was diagnosed with IBS after a long, painful battle with RLQ Abdominal pain. I was prescribed Linzess. Before I took Linzess, I could go to the bathroom every single day, multiple times if I needed to. First day of Linzess - cramps literally DOUBLED my original rating of an 8 on a 1-10 pain scale, 10 being worst pain in life. Was in complete agony until it wore off. Couldn't go to the bathroom at all. Second day of Linzess- cramps literally TRIPLED my pain. I've been in bed crying because I can barely talk because I'm in so much pain and yet, still no bowel motion. Not only is this medication making my pain much worse, it also caused me to become constipated because I wasn't constipated before. I will NOT be using this medication again."
