Mirena (levonorgestrel): I have had Mirena for 3 yrs. 6 weeks after having my 2nd baby it was cramping with placement and a little after but nothing real bad. I drove myself home but a few days later I was bleeding a lot and it had a mind of its own. I had to always keep pads and liners on. After 6 months the bleeding slowed a lot then finally went away. I love the Mirena it is not as bad as the pill and it works wonders but I still have to be careful because if my period does start I never know when it will end. I talked to my doctor, we are trying to plan for a cooper IUD without any hormone to see if it changes anything but no doubt I would recommend it to any women being a young mother of 2 kids it works wonders for me.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I got Mirena in about five months ago. It was very painful when I got it inserted, I have no children. I was bed stricken the whole day proceeding the insertion. Since then I have felt great. I am pretty sure it has contributed to a little weight gain and some mood swings but nothing out of control. My partner can barely feel it. Also, I do not really get my period, which freaks me out a little, but other than a few cramps (and I used to have unbearable cramps) during my period time, I love it.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I've had the Mirena for over a year placeed 06/16/2008 and have been experiencing acne, breast tenderness, not weight gain and all have but since faded. However I've been having a lot of in between uterine bleeding so much so that I have to constantly wear sanitary pads and be on guard because I'm no longer able to determine the start or stop times of my period. I saw my OB and period has been over for about two week, he did an exam and said I was spotting, now I am scheduled for pelvic ultrasound and may have to have the Mirena removed. Even though I had experienced some issues with my Mirena, I still do not regret getting it placed. I still would recommend it to other women. I just happen to fall in that 10% where it's not working.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I HAD THE MIRENA COIL FITTED 4 YEARS AGO. MY PERIODS BECAME HEAVIER FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS. HAVEN'T HAD A PERIOD NOW FOR 2 YEARS BRILLIANT - THE DOWN SIDE IS WEIGHT GAIN, 3 STONE. I'M DUE TO HAVE IT REMOVED I WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE PUT IN BUT THE WEIGHT GAIN IS A BIG ISSUE.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I had my Mirena inserted one year ago. It was great at first because it really does make your period a lot lighter when you typically suffer from dysmenorrhea, which I do. However, in the last three months I have gained 15 pounds, but the weight is really just around my midsection. My breasts have swollen such that I have gone up two bra sizes (which, contrary to what one may think, is not a good thing). And worse still, morning sickness. I thought I might be pregnant, but the home tests say I am not. I have just made an appointment to have it removed because unfortunately the side effects are now affecting me on a daily basis.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): Absolutely brilliant. I only asked the doctor for a break from heavy periods for my 2 week summer holiday. She suggested that long term I should consider the Mirena. It has changed my life. I had it inserted in August and have had very light one day periods every month since. No cramping or flooding, no headache beforehand and still regular. I did notice swollen breasts for a few months but this has settled. Am 39 now and wish I had found out about Mirena ages ago.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I had the Mirena inserted in April 08 to control heavy bleeding from Adenomyosis. My doctor had recommended it 2 years prior and I balked at getting it because of "horror" stories I read. Now I wish I had given it a try when she first recommended it. It has been great. I had some light spotting the first 2 months, then no period for a couple months. Had a very light period in February. It has changed my life. I have put on some additional weight, approx 8 pounds since I had it put in but I already was struggling with weight so don't know if it is from that or from middle age. Working on that now with exercise and diet. I am very happy with it. I have my life back each month instead of being afraid to leave the house because of heavy bleeding.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I have suffered with abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding for my entire reproductive life - starting with my very first period at age 12. I am now 48 and had the Mirena inserted two years ago as I could no longer tolerate birth control pills. It has been wonderful, I do still get periods but they are short and light with no cramping. Who knew that regular tampons would be useful? Yesterday I went for a check-up and my hemoglobin count was 14. The best I had ever achieved before this was 11. My doctor said that for the first time in my life I could now donate blood instead of wondering if I may need a transfusion. Go Mirena!

Mirena (levonorgestrel): I have had the Mirena in for 1 week now. I have had mild cramping but everything is getting better. I have had light bleeding since the insertions, so far no problems. I am 21 years old and don't have any children. Previously, I had heavy bleeding and had to get a blood transfusion and had to stay in hospital because of it. So my doctor decided Mirena would be the best for me. My husband and I do want to have children in the near future so this type of birth control is great because you dont have to worry about it and you can take it out in 6 month to a year. Overall I haven't had this for very long but I'm liking it.
