"I love this birth control. My period used to be very heavy and it would last for at least a week of every month. I would be nauseous for at least two days, have cramps so badly I had to stay home some days and my PMS and mood swings were terrible. YUCK! I started Loestrin 24 because I heard it could help shorten my peroid. I have been on it for two years and over time my period shortened until it never lasts more than four days, and it lightened up enough I didn't have to limit my activities any longer because of my need to have a bathroom in close range for days on end. It helped clear up my acne, never caused weight gain, stopped my cramps, and I don't get nearly as moody. I did start craving chocolate like you wouldn't believe though."

"This is the worst birth control I have ever used. My breasts ache, it makes me cry uncontrollably, makes me have mood swings and a buzzing feeling in my girl parts. I have spoken to other friends that have used it and they continued to take it even after the crazy symptoms. They levelled out in 3 months. Really? ! My male OBGYN will not change it so I stopped taking it and within 2 weeks feel drastically better. I have since changed doctors because of him not changing the pill. Obviously there is a kickback involved."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 4 years. It was my favorite out of all the birth controls I tried until this year. I am 5'6-5'7 and have always been about 125-130 pounds. I am now about 150-160 pounds, I skipped a period two months ago, got this months period late. I am not pregnant. I will randomly feel sick and depressed. I have lost my sex drive and my boobs will hurt. I have extreme cramps and find myself experiencing tons of mood swings. I think it is time to switch to something else."

"I have been on this product since my sophomore of high school as period control, I am now a freshman in college and I still love this pill. I haven't experienced any of the negative side effects I hear so many girls complaining about with their birth controls. It helped clear up acne, I have very short, always regular periods, and I didn't experience any weight gain from this pill. I'm also not pregnant, highly recommend this pill."

"I'm into my second pack and am not pregnant (which is good) but I'm very nauseous, queasy, dizzy and lightheaded. Also, I'm experiencing anxiety and nervousness. I think if these symptoms continue after pack 3 I'll need to switch."

"Stop reading into birth control so much ! Everyone is different and it is all about trial and error based on your needs, your body, you. I am 23 years old and have never tried birth control pills. My hormones were off and I was getting hormonal breakouts around my chin along with abnormal menstrual cycle. I was skeptical about starting to use the pill because I want a natural period and I feel like my body will respond the way it needs to without meds, but sometimes you need help getting back on track after stress, etc.I have noticed a huge change the first two weeks I was just emotional but that was expected. I cried for silly reasons but laughed it off. Overall it is doing its job. I feel better all around."

"Though expensive (I can usually find a coupon), I love this birth control! I noticed no weight gain or breakouts...it actually cleared up my skin. Very short periods (4 days of inactive pills) usually last 2 days. Recommended for sure, if covered by insurance or have the money."

"I loved being on this pill. The only reason why I stopped is because I am way too busy to take it at the same time every day, so I now have a birth control implant. I did not gain weight. Acne... well, I've always had bad acne, even before birth control. I was secretly hoping it would clear it up, which it did not, but it definitely did not get worse. No weight gain, etc. Lightened my cycles for the fist year, then afterwards I would regularly get my period every other month, and then I would never get it (and take tests when I was worried.) Towards the end (I was on it for years), I was horrible with taking it on time-- there were days I would even forget to take it. With back up protection, I still was never pregnant. Loved this pill."

"Hey ladies! I started this birth control 2 weeks ago, and have so far experienced no symptoms whatsoever (good or bad). While I wouldn't have complained if my breasts grew a bit as a lot of girls have experienced, I am pretty relieved that I didn't have any negative side-effects. Things may change, but so far I have no complaints. Don't be scared by all the negative reviews. Just give it a go, and if it doesn't work for you, you can always try another."

"This was my first birth control pill and I have been on it for about two months. I have been very moody/sensitive and cry about everything!!! I mean I could cry until my eyes hurt. I had no idea that it was from this pill until I decided to stop taking them because they were causing horrible cystic acne on my face. I stopped a few days ago and my mood is a lot better already. Take this pill at your own risk because I don’t recommend it."

"I’ve was taking lo loestrin for about a year. It had some pros— for instance I would normally suffer from really painful menstrual cramps but with this birth control I haven’t had any since I started. Another thing I haven’t gotten my period since I started. Not even the common spotting. Which that was a little concern with me towards the end. It’s not normal. But what really made me stop taking these pills was that I broke out a lot!!!! It was ridiculous how much acne I got from this! It just took one week for my face to clear up and feel smooth after I fully stopped taking these pills! Now I have to go on the hunt again for birth control pills."

"I have tried many different kinds of birth control pills during my search to find the right one. This one wasn't the right one for me. I constantly felt nauseous and developed urinary tract infections and yeast infections, strange discharges and odors. I didn't have those problems on the other pills. Also I would experience randomly on this pill the loss of my sex drive. For the people who know me, that's nothing like me. That side effect scared me and was the last straw that pushed me to switch."

"This is an amazing birth control pill. I have been on this pill for two months now and I love it. I didn't gain any weight. Because I have a balanced diet and also exercise twice a week. Try relaxing perhaps and believe in it that is the key girls!"

"I am 16. I was on Loestrin for 5-6 months and at first I did have some spotting/ bleeding (but I had also taken my pill late the first few months so maybe that was why.) Before I got on the pill I had a very heavy period, and I would go through 7 tampons sometimes in one school day. Loestrin did thankfully make my period a lot shorter and lighter however sometimes I would have a discharge the week before my period. I did not have any weight gain but the pill caused me to have MAJOR mood swings towards my 4th-6th month. I was depressed sometimes and would feel the need to cry a lot. It was effecting my friendships and relationship. I just switched to Lutera on Sunday and hopefully this pill wont have any side effects."

"Cannot wait to get off this pill...horrible mood swings! Extremely irritable, crying at everything, beginning to dislike my husband (not good!), feel like I am coming out of my skin some days, I cannot stand myself and I'm pretty sure my family is starting to feel the same. Took me a couple of months to figure out it was the pill causing it, since this all started after I started taking it 4 months ago. I started with it to help with very heavy periods, it is helping with that although I did have a 2 week period last month which is never enjoyable. Pretty sure this pill is causing me to have this PMDD which I have never experienced before. It's horrible. Switching to something else so hopefully it will get better!"

"I was taking Microgestin for 4 years and switched to test out if the other BC was giving me weight gain. Never got around to the experiment because Loestrin was a nightmare. I had spotting every day since day 5 of the pack. Then cystic acne started popping up and I couldn't control it with anything! With the other BC, I was able to control it, and it at least went away like a normal pimple, but this acne is painful and HUGE. Combined with the constant spotting and losing all my good thongs to the BC being sassy , I decided to switch back. Based on other reviews, seems like these side effects aren't going anywhere."

"I used Loestrin for about 6 months. I switched from Yaz because although Yaz promised a shorter period, I actually had it for about 8 days. With loestrin, I only had my period for 2 days - major plus. However, as time went on, I noticed that I would get stomach aches and the main issue was loss of sex drive. It took a while to realize that this was caused by Loestrin but just keep in mind that this is a side effect. "

"I was taking this pill for several years and had a good experience with it. My periods were only for 3 days, if that. Sometimes, I hardly bled. My Dr. prescribed this to me because I had irregular menstrual cycles. While I was on the medication, my acne improved, I hardly had any breakouts, I barely experienced cramps, and I had a shortened period. It worked very well for me but apparently, they've discontinued this product. Minastrin 24 FE is apparently the bio-equivalent. I have yet to try that product or any new pills."

"I felt great on Loestrin 24 Fe during the first two months of use. My periods were just tiny bits of spotting and my acne cleared up entirely. During my third pack of pills, I had pregnancy symptoms during the second week of use that scared me: vivid dreams, bad nausea without vomiting, sensitivity to smells, heavy appetite, moodiness, and most distinct was the pain of breast tenderness. I had been pregnant before, so I was familiar with the feeling. Multiple pregnancy tests including a blood test at the doctor's eventually ruled out pregnancy. I was so stressed by the symptoms, but they turned out to be caused by the pill. "

"This is my first time on birth control . My first two-three months on Lo I experienced mild cystic acne to my chin area and slight weight gain ,6 pounds at the most . I think most of my weight went to my boobs :) . The acne resolved after three months or so , now my skin is clear for the most part . My weight is pretty steady however my breast get very sore and heavy during certain times of the month . Overall it seems to be good compared to what I’ve heard of from other BC, Most importantly it decreased my bleeding which is why I started . Periods are very light lasting about 3 days . I’m on my 6th month , can’t complain!"

"If I could give this a 0 I would. It was the first birth control I had ever been on and trusted my gyno when she prescribed it, little to no periods, awesome, lets do it. She told me it would take up to three months for my body to adjust. 3 months exactly I stopped taking it. Anxiety, depression, not quite suicidal but I definitely wouldn't have cared if I died, hair falling out, zero sex drive, violent angry outbursts (I hit my sister for bumping into me), and a NON STOP PERIOD! I was miserable, this pill was absolute hell."

"I was on Loestrin 24 for about 3 years. I switched because I could no longer get the coupon and it was too expensive. Initially, I noticed some stomach pain, but I have endometriosis which could have caused that. My periods were non-existent after the first year. I went the entire year without a period. I did not have mood swings until I switched to Loestrin 10. Over the past few years, I have had consistent weight gain, without changing my diet or exercise routine. I am not sure if that is due to the medication or an underlying problem. I did not notice any breast tenderness/swelling until I switched to Loestrin 10 either. I have now switched to Generess and am on my 4th day. Extreme nausea. I may just pay the $50 for Loestrin 24 every month."

"I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about four years now. When I first started taking it, I did gain about 15 pounds or so. Other than that, it has been good. My periods only last 2-3 days and they are light enough that I can wear a small tampon or a panty liner. I had three ovarian cysts burst before taking Loestrin and since I've been on it, I haven't had any cysts burst. I would recommend Loestrin, except for the weight gain."

"The reason, I got on this prescription was because 1. I don't want to get pregnant and 2. My periods last for 7-8 days cramps are unbearable and there are time that its heavy its annoying and there are times I cant even sleep. Now, I've only been on the pill for 7 days. Before I even take the pill, I'm good no mood swings I don't feel nausea nothing at all. After I take the pill, like 5 hours later I start feeling nausea, moody, I just want to go to bed and sleep. What I've been reading here seems good, I hope this side affects ends soon because I really don't like the feeling but I will keep you guys updated how its working with my body, Wish me luck."

"I've been on this pill for 4 months now and it's great. My period lasts only like 3 days on the sugar pills, experience barely any cramping. The only downside for my body was that this pill makes you spot on and off so I keep having to wear a panty liner and it makes me really emotional like I cry over everything and I was never that sensitive. I haven't gained that much weight but I will say it makes me have an appetite like a man! It cleared up my acne too. I do recommend this pill."
