"I really liked Lutera, was on it for 6 months but Nurx has decided to send me the generic Vienva for the next 6 months instead. Mood was great on it, didn't experience any weight gain. As someone who has had issues with depression and anxiety, I was worried going from Nuvaring to a pill, but I had no issues with mental health. In fact, I have felt better than ever. I have previously felt like I have a low sex drive, but this has actually had me feeling pretty good in that regard, and that may be related to how it didn't have effects on my mood. Everyone's body responds differently to birth control, but Lutera really worked for me. Hope Vienva is just as good!"

"Lutera made my hair fall out after 2 months of taking it. Completely upset about what it does to your hormones. Be careful ladies. Not all birth control pills have such a high amount of androgenetic activity. Do your research. This has been the hardest year of my life recovering from the hair loss."

"I started Lutera about a month ago. I was on the Nuvaring before that. I switched to Lutera because being as active as I am, the Nuvaring somehow found it's way out. Lutera is the first birth control pill that I have taken, and my experience has been great so far. The pills are small and easy to swallow which was a huge plus! I did not have breakthrough bleeding on the pill like I did with the Nuvaring {I skip my periods purposely by starting a new pack instead of the inactive week pill/Nuvaring} so that was fantastic as well. No pregnancies here, so it's been very effective for that! I never had any nausea with the pill, but I did have some weight gain {about 6 pounds, which did not make me happy!}."

"Before I was on Lutera- I was on Lo Loestin FE (which was awful!- I would bleed literally two weeks out of the month, had no sex drive and gained 10 lbs). After switching to Lutera, which I have been on for a month now, my mood swings have been consistent (even though I cried when a dog commercial came on), I have actually lost weight, there is no break through bleeding, and my sex drive is back to normal, AND this is covered a 100% by my insurance. Also, no bad side effects such as acne, stomach pain, or severe discomfort in any form. The only thing is my boobs swell up a little bit, but no complaints there. This is such a great pill! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to start a new BC or wanting to switch."

"Just started 2nd month on this pill Lutera. I have never taken any kind of hormonal birth control before this. So far the side effects have been few, and have been all positive. I've found that my mood is actually more regular in general (less feelings of anxiety and depression/ PMDD), period is much much lighter with no pain, and my breasts have grown (not tender). My libido has always been high, and now seems to be the same if not slightly higher. The security of knowing that it is extremely unlikely I'll get pregnant is be biggest bonus of all; that in itself has relieved so much stress for me and my partner, and may be what is helping with my mood more so than the hormones. So far, so good. And sooo worth it for me."

"I first started taking Lutera around the beginning of January. I noticed immediate mood swings within the first 2 weeks of taking it, I had a little trouble sleeping one night & literally started sobbing out of no where (mind you I'm not a very emotional person). It made me EXTREMELY depressed, & I only ever felt angry or sad, never happy, not to mention I felt very disconnected to my boyfriend who I am deeply in love with. I immediately got off of it during the third week. They say to stick it out the first 3 weeks at LEAST but I could not stay on it one more day. I immediately noticed the changes & I was back to my spunky positive self, thank god! ( :"

"I have been taking this pill for 5 months and I have noticed HUGE mood swings, feel depressed but I have lost weight. I have just started unprotected sex and it scares me, but my doctor told me it is what birth control is for so you are fine! I feel nauseous constantly though. I just got put on a higher dose as well but other than that I like this birth control!"

"I'm 17, so this applies more to teens. I was on the DEPO shot. I had horrible effects, would tell anyone and everyone to stay away. So after my 9 month on it, I had a 2 month long period, incredible pains and mood swings, and it was all too much. I came off and went on Lutera. It's beeen 3 weeks. I put on about 5 pounds, but so far I've been working out and dropping it! The weight gain is fast and I'm finding it easy to get rid of! My moods are much more stable which is amazing because it really makes a difference if you are in a relationship. So far I would recommend it."

"I am 17 years old, 5'1, and 125 pounds when I was originally 105lbs. I started taking Lutera almost exactly 1 year ago. It was my first birth control and the reason I was getting it was because my periods were horrible. There would be days I couldn't go to school because I had to change my pad every couple minutes. Also I planned on being sexually active once it started kicking in. I became sexually active about 3 or 4 months later and it is great with protection. I gained a LOT of weight. I expected to but not this much. It's made me have very low self esteem. ALSO I don't know if it just me or the pill but even though I have been sexually active, it's impossible to have an orgasm. I want to switch because of the weight gain, but I'm too scared."

"Since I've been on this pill my periods are lighter and last 3 to 4 days. Before Lutera I would get horrible cramps and now my cramps don't bother me as much. When I first took the pill of course there were some side effects, but nothing severe, your body just needs some time to adjust to it. I've been on this pill since I was 17 now 22yrs old so far. No problems with it and I continue to take it everyday at the same time."

"I have been switching from birth control to birth control, trying to find what works the best with my body. Lutera is okay; my acne is manageable, no weight gain/loss, and no depression. I don't like how it makes me nauseous a lot, but maybe that's just with the starting months. I really don't like how it is giving me cramps (I'm nowhere near my period week) and COMPLETELY took away my sex drive. It scares me when a medication gives me a certain reaction, but it scares me even more when the medication takes something away from me that I was fine with."

"I give Lutera 5 stars because it effectively did half its job: birth control. I was on it for seven months and never got pregnant, nor did I have any scares. The other half of it was horrible for me: it gave me AWFUL anxiety. I had panic attacks, to the point where I couldn't see straight or feel my legs. All this coming from a person who has never had an anxious bone in her body until I started this pill. I was crazy emotional, and nearly ruined my relationship. I would cry over every little thing. All of that on top of the minor little annoyances like nausea, pimples, hot flashes, etc. All of my symptoms would come and go (except for the anxiety). Each month was different. Everyone is different, but that was my experience."

"I really liked this birth control and wanted to continue using it, but after 3 months, it started causing big zits on my chin around the time of my period so I stopped. Other than that, no other bad side effects that I noticed."

"I switched to Lutera from Tri-Sprintec on my doctors reccomendation. Everyone reacts differently to birth controls, and my body did not like Lutera. I've gained about 15 lbs in 2 months of being on it, I'm extremely moody and borderline depressed, always tired, feel spaced out a lot and I don't have much of an appetite, ever. Which made it even more frustrating that I was gaining weight.. planning on switching back to Yaz, I've never had side effects with that one, it was just more pricey."

"I have been on Lutera for 3 months now, and I'M GAINING SO MUCH WEIGHT! The weight gain makes me sad. This pill makes me feel so lazy and emotional. My skin is better than normal though. Plus I'm not pregnant!"

"To me has been working for around 7 years I love it. Although I have been a constant birth control user for over 10 years never have kids or been pregnant so I'm 30 now I have stopped taking it to avoid any future complications due to general birth control issues.before I started taking it. I tried many and Luthera is been the best working on me. I highly recommend it"

"For 8 years I was on Aviane. Had horrible cramps, breast soreness awful mood swings, weight gain (at least 5-7lbs), and very odd periods (some would be heavy heavy, then the next month barely anything). Not too long ago, the pharmacy gave me Lutera instead for no reason. Questioning on how good this was, I was very nervous. My first week on Lutera, I lost those lbs, felt happy (like a weight has been lifted), no cramps! My period was light, short, and cramp free! I had NO MOOD SWINGS. Then, the next month, back on Aviane...worst breast tenderness I have ever felt within the first few days back on it! Cramps returned. The next month: Lutera. After that...Aviane. Now, I've finally on Lutera...for good! This is the best."

"I just renewed my prescription today so I have been on Lutera for a year. I consider myself a low maintenance person and Lutera fits well into keeping me that way. I have not noticed barely anything changing while I am on it except I went up a cup size. I don't necessarily like that, but my periods are normal and it has worked to prevent pregnancy. I take it at 10pm every night. I don't have any complaints and have been truly satisfied with he results especially because my insurance covers the cost 100%."

"I've been on Lutera non-stop for about 5 years. Pros: Never had any noticeable weight gains, acne, mood swings, cramping, or any other side effects that would be linked to the pills. Also no pregnancies, which is kind of the whole point! Cons: Within the past year or two, I've noticed a big decrease in sex drive. Also stopped taking it for a week or two recently (was on antibiotics) and my next period was medium flow for almost two weeks. Noticed my PMS kicked in big time when I took that time off."

"So I switched birth control because my old one NOVIAL gave me bad side effects . It took me a month to find lutera but in the month I was not on birth control I started to break out quickly and my breast started to get extremely sensitive. Once I started LUTERA my acne went away immediately and my breast were not swollen or hurting I was impressed because my old birth control made me extremely unhappy but so far LUTERA has worked great . My only problem could be I started to get small little rashes like little mosquito bites on my arm it does not bother me they went away but I do get them once in a while."

"I was on Lutera from October 2011 - October 2013 and it was amazing. My periods were on time every month, I had no severe cramping, my mood swings died down a lot and it protected me. In the 2 years I took Lutera every day and it was the best birth control I ever took. No weight gain, no acne, it was perfect. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking it as I didn't have enough money to afford another years worth of birth control. And 3 months later I found out I was pregnant with my son who is now 5 months old! My OBGYN prescribed me Microgestion Fe 1.5/20 BC and I'm trying to switch back to it and Lutera is the birth control I know that worked for me"

"I’m 18, 5’8ish & about 110 pounds. I’m taking this to help me gain weight as well as help me get my period (it’s been 10 months since I last got it & no I’m not preg). All it’s done is making me really sick. I poop like 6x every morning and throw up. Don’t do it, worst mistake I ever made. I read all the other reviews and said a big fat NO - I'm not taking it anymore. Don’t do it. Worst idea."

"I went back on the pill in the fall of 2016, I didn't experience any nausea like I did with previous pills which was great. Then 3 months later my pill was switched to Lutera, and my pharmacist told me it was the same thing I was taking just different packaging. I then started getting UTIs (which i never had before), severe anxiety, and hair loss( clumps were coming out in the shower!), and spotted a week before my period. I had no idea what was happening and the doctors I went to were of no help. Finally after a few months I went off Lutera to see if it was the culprit. All those symptoms went away after a couple weeks."

"So far it's been over 2 weeks on Lutera and I like it. I only had a headache and slightly nauseous on the first day of taking the pill and after that I was fine. My skin is clear (I didn't have acne before either though), I have no mood swings & no spotting. My energy level is the same as before I took the pill. I have no weight gain either. Overall I am very pleased with this pill. In the past I have taken Orthotricyclen and it made me slightly nauseous and I had some light spotting if I took a pill later than usual. I hope this review helps someone. Just keep in mind everyone is different and their body reacts differently to bc pills."
