I've only been taking Lutera for a week or so now but I'm pretty happy with it. I researched a lot about it and I was super scared to take it. People were saying they were having severe headaches, hair loss, decreased sex drive, etc. The first day I started taking it my vision was a little bit off, things looked a tad blurry. I was a little more emotional than usual but nothing too bad. By the 3rd day my vision was back to normal. I've barely experienced any side effects. From the reviews I thought everything was going to go wrong. I have noticed my hair grows faster like I will shave my legs and then by the afternoon they will be prickly. The best part was that it's free. I got it from my local planned parenthood.
I was on the Depo shot for 11 years. I never had a period the entire time. It made me moody, psycho and out of control crazy. It made me gain weight (from 95lbs when I started the shot to 133lbs when I stopped it). I am 5 ft 3 with a very small frame, 133 lbs is too much for my body. Talked to my Dr. and got Lutera instead. It is very low hormones. I can honestly say that the Depo made me crazy. This pill has changed that. In the first month I noticed the improvement in my moods. My breast size increased from B to C, although tenderness occurs occasionally. Has helped grow my hair, and has regulated my periods.
I've been on this pill for a little over a month and I love it. (Knock on wood) but I haven't gotten any really bad side effects like most pills I've read about. On this pill I've lost my crazy appetite that I used to have, my breasts feel like they've gotten smaller, I don't have mood swings, or feel depressed or anything. The only negative thing is, even though I'm glad it made my hair longer, it made my hair in other places longer and it grows back faster (which I can manage but it's a little annoying having to do my eyebrows ever other day). I've also had headaches but not sure if its from the pill and I had my period for 2 weeks straight but my doctor said its because body is getting used to the pill.
I've been taking Lutera for only a week now but so far, so good. Honestly, after reading all the reviews and side effects all over the internet I was pretty nervous. I think birth control will have different effects depending on the individual. All your doctor can do is try their best to prescribe the best birth control for you.
I'm 21, never been on birth control pills before, and have one child. I've never had a problem with uncomfortable or heavy periods but I am eager to see if this pill will make my periods last fewer days like most claim it does...too early to tell.
I have had a little trouble with breaking out regularly since I was 15. Well so far after one week on this pill my face is completely clear! So happy.
I have had the Implanon rod in my arm for two years. It made me have a period for 19 days and off for about 4 to 5. My hair was falling out, horrible cramps and bad headaches. I have switched over to the Lutera pill and instantly it has made a difference. I did have a little bit of tenderness in my breasts. Yes, I crave sweets. But who doesn't? My periods come the same day every month and are light and easy. I love this product. For the past six months it has been good to me.
Since pills work differently depending on the individual, I think it's important to know a little about the person reviewing. I'm 5'1 Asian 105 lbs. Lutera is the second birth control pill I've tried, before was Beyaz. I do like Lutera better, as Beyaz was depressing. I've been taking Lutera for 4 months now. I have noticed a difference with my period timing. It would come earlier than the average 28 day cycle, but would only last 3-4 days. These past two months, it has only lasted 3 days. The pill seems REALLY effective, considering sometimes I forget to take my pill at the designated time.
NO difference in acne for me.
For 8 years I was on Aviane. Had horrible cramps, breast soreness awful mood swings, weight gain (at least 5-7lbs), and very odd periods (some would be heavy heavy, then the next month barely anything).
Not too long ago, the pharmacy gave me Lutera instead for no reason. Questioning on how good this was, I was very nervous. My first week on Lutera, I lost those lbs, felt happy (like a weight has been lifted), no cramps! My period was light, short, and cramp free! I had NO MOOD SWINGS.
Then, the next month, back on Aviane...worst breast tenderness I have ever felt within the first few days back on it! Cramps returned. The next month: Lutera.
Now, I've finally on Lutera...for good! This is the best.
I have been taking Lutera for a year. It has protected against pregnancy very well. My periods are much lighter and I almost never get cramps. I have missed 2 periods which was a little scary. I have gained about 8 pounds and I crave sweet foods even more than I used to. My breasts are slightly bigger. I feel tired if I don't get at least 10 hours of sleep. My sex drive is slightly lower. I do have a mood swing usually about once a month where I cry about anything and everything for 2 days. I have always felt more emotional right before my periods, but I did not cry as much before. I think I am going to switch birth control because of the weight gain. Other than that, the side effects do not bother me.
This pill worked great for protecting against pregnancy but there were MANY side effects. I would feel extreme lows, more emotional and cried over the silliest things, vaginal dryness, small occasional breakouts, and a week before the placebos would begin, I would start my period making it last two weeks instead of one! Happy to be getting off this pill in two more weeks!
Lutera has been pretty effective throughout my couple of months using it. I experienced nausea quite often during the first couple of packs. My breasts were tender and swollen in the beginning but that doesn't happen anymore. I gained about 7 pounds. Sex drive is actually up the wall. I'm naturally a moody and emotional/sensitive little flower and I believe since this is a hormonal pill, it adds on to the emotions. I'm frightened by the potential pop up of depression issues or psychological issues I've been reading about birth control pills. I just don't want it to be too late before I possibly go crazy like some people have mentioned happened to them. Overall the pill is cool. I used to have severe cramps and heavy bleeding but Lutera helped.
I've taken birth control, first when I was a teenager to control my periods, then to prevent pregnancy. I've had an IUD, it's a toss up on that one. I have one child and until I can save enough money for the permanent procedure, Lutera is what I'll use. It's effective, no weight gain, no mood swings. Felt a bit nauseous when I first started taking this but other than that I highly recommend it.

I have taken Lutera for about a year and a half. It is great at preventing babies and it has made my periods much better. I do not bleed as much and my cramps are nothing compared to what they were. However, I have gained weight - about 20 lbs. I have tried to lose the weight and have lost a little but I have never had to try so hard to lose weight. Much of the time it is a losing battle because since Lutera I always seem to have hunger pains. Also, at times I feel very tired and taking caffeine only helps a little bit.
I have been using this birth control for 7 months now and i have had no side effects. I started it because I have endometriosis and could not take another painful period. This pill is amazing, the pain is practically gone. I've lost weight, my period is predictable and I would recommend this to anyone!

I'm only on the first week and I'm moody, and feel down a lot. I don't like it because I took birth control before and I've never felt mild depression like this before and moody. I'm also having cravings for sweets everyday, which is very unusual.

I'm a first time user for birth control and with everything I've heard I was so frightened. I begun Lutera 3 weeks ago and I've had no side effects, yay! I was really worried about all that was described would be side effects. My period was supposed to be coming around this week however it hasn't. But I've read birth control can make you miss your period. And I'm fine with that. Great experience so far!

This is the first birth control pill I have ever been on and I have been taking it since January. It is good for the most part. However, when I first started the pill, I bled for about three weeks straight like a crazy period and I am constantly dealing with bleeding between periods. Often it seems to be caused by having sex with my boyfriend. Sex seems to be a trigger to start bleeding. I'm still the same happy person I was before I started the pill, I just bleed a whole lot more than I used to.
Although I have been on this birth control for less than a week, I'm already seeing results! I have had acne for years, and it wasn't until I started birth control when I noticed how much it has been helping my skin. I have been told I look thinner, but I'm not sure if that's just from exercising. I have had strange back pains, as if it was period cramps, but other than that, I've had no side effects. Great first medicine to be on, and I recommend it to anyone first trying out birth control!
I started using Lutera for birth control and to regulate my periods. I thought that it was working fine for the first 6 months but I started to put all my health concerns together. I already have a lot of health concerns and it seemed to lower my immune system so I got sick all the time. I got colds, flu, bronchitis, and was always having migraines. I stopped using it for a month and noticed I felt much better. I started it up again and boom, within a week I felt bad again.
I was on DEPO PROVERA before Lutera. It was terrible. My mood swings were terribly out of control, bleeding was always there and depression occurred. Switching to Lutera was a good idea because it is a low dose birth control which has helped my mood swings tremendously!
I started taking Lutera because I had bad cramps and my doctor recommended it. And it is by far amazing. I've been on it for a year now and I haven't gained any weight, I have less acne, and I don't crumple up on the bed for a straight week anymore! But for the past few months, the day I start my period week my emotions have been everywhere. Mostly with annoyance and frustration. I'd cry cause I couldn't get the lid off the jar of jelly. I would yell at someone cause they didn't hear what I said. It's only for the first few days I am on my period. (Sometimes it happens if I forget a day also.) Other than what is recent, Lutera is very good.

I have never taken birth control before and for my size, my doctor recommended something with very low dose of hormones which was Lutera. When I first started taking it, I had extremely bad nausea for the first week that was impossible to cope with. Then I started getting really bad mood swings. I am always a positive person and happy all the time. This pill has completely changed my personality since I started taking it. I am always so tired and sleep 12 hours a day, I get so emotional over the smallest things and start crying at random times. I cannot go through a day without having a mini breakdown. I'm coming off this pill.

The first birth control I ever used was Ortho-Cyclen. I took it to help lighten my periods and was on it for about 9 months. Though it did help with my periods, I just didn't like the woman I became on it. I then switched to the patch and experienced the same thing. Next was the Depo shot. Ladies beware! To follow were 3 months of complete hell. My mood was constantly up and down and just about anything could send me into hysterics. Refusing to continue with the shot I asked my doctor for a low hormone birth control and she suggested Lutera. It's been 5 months now and I couldn't be more satisfied. My skin is clear, I went from a B to a D cup, and best of all, no mood swings! I am so happy with this pill. I 100% recommend it.

The pill worked great at preventing babies, but it did make me extremely tired all the time. Plus it made me super emotional, crying about the littlest of things to being angry about everything. It also made my skin break out really bad.
