For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was prescribed this drug after a chest infection had returned an the initial antibiotics had not 100% worked. Within a day I had gotten a lot worse, and began passing out and ended up in hospital for 6 hours. They informed me that this drug was not always reliable and they had a woman in the ward for 6 weeks due to her taking these for 3 days. Reluctantly I came off this drug and went back onto a longer dosage of my initial antibiotics. Needless to say I got a lot better quickly, and the infection had disappeared within a week."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Had a insect bite that got really badly infected on my calf to the point where I could barely walk it was that painful I was on penicillin but that did very little but after taking this it cleared up almost immediately. Although it's making feel quite nauseas where all it takes is a buiscuit to make me want to throw up also having headaches and my heart beat keeps going fast but it worked a treat on my bite"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Used to take these erythromycin for year when I was 15 for acne and had no side effects. Now is a different story. Got an ingrown hair that had got infected. For four days I have had being sick, explosive diarrhea and agonizing stomach cramps coupled with no appetite. I had to take x 2 250mg tablets 4 times a day. I have been in bed for days as I'm wiped out. Phoned a walk in centre and they told me to stop taking them immediately. Never again."

For Otitis Media "This year, I had been prescribed this awful Erythromycin 500mg X2, 4 times a day by one of my horrible GPs which almost left me hospitalized! I went back to said GP to tell him of the side effects I was experiencing from this drug, he yelled at me to carry on with the course. The next day, I was admitted to A&E for emergency surgery with suspected 'Acute Acalculous Cholecystitis' caused by these antibiotics, the most serious of gallbladder diseases. I was thinking of suing the surgery. Left surgery and please avoid this medicine! If you feel when you are taking these tablets you are dying, you probably are!"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I am taking LOFEPRAMINE and PERICYAZINE for mental health issues, and found that ERYTHROMYCIN , wiped out my mental health meds. It was as if I was not taking them, and I must now , NOT take Erythromycin or any other MACROLIDES, this is the group of meds that Erythromycin belongs to. I found it hard to believe that an anti-biotic could cause such profound effects. I hope this review helps other people with m.h.issues. If in doubt Google it."

"I had to take this medication 4 times a day for a rare UTI pathogen. After the third dose, I was in the fetal position, on the ground, in the worst abdominal pain of my life. The next day I tried taking more doses with food and my stomach continued to hurt. The third day, I took my morning dose and realized I couldn’t keep taking it. My heart was racing and I became so dizzy I almost fell over. A week later, I am now suffering from gastritis that has left me unable to eat or go to work. I spend most my days in the bed trying to get relief from Pepcid, tums, pepto, you name it. Im a registered nurse and im telling you, this medication has made me the sickest I’ve ever been."

For Pharyngitis "My experience at first was that I was not able to take the chewable pill. It was quite distasteful and difficult to swallow. I switched to the liquid and this made a huge difference in my digesting of the medication. The medicine proved to be quite helpful. I was starting to feel better after the second day of taking the medication. "

For Dental Abscess "Started erythromycin medication for toothache/onset of infection. Now the 3rd day on meds, still no significant relief of pain due to oncoming infection. After reading comments I see this medication can take a little time to start working, hopefully I'll get relief soon. I also experienced severe stomach cramps, along with intestinal discomfort, nausea but no vomiting. I'm in the same position due to pandemic cannot see dentist anytime soon. Not sure what to do now."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed erythormycin after doxycycline doing absolutely nothing for my acne, I have been on this coming up to 2 months and haven’t seen any improvement yet. I have been on 5 courses of antibiotics and at least 8 creams and nothing works but my GP won’t refer me. So I'll sticking with this for another month but doubt it’s going to suddenly work when stronger ones didn't. So far my back is a lot worse and chest. If doxy didn’t work for you then don’t bother with this as it’s 3 times weaker. My GP is clearly smart, strong treatment doesn’t work so gives me a weaker one just so I'll come back - about ready for going private."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Was given this erythromycin for acne because 3 previous antibiotics didn’t work so my GP has chucked me on this and have been on it around 2 weeks so far and my skin just got worse, love how all these antibiotics I’ve been given are for STIs, no wonder all the people in the chemist stare at me, but yeah I’ll update this it possible but so far 0 side effects and acne got a little better but now it’s worsened like normal with antibiotics but we’ll see in another month or so. Talk about antibiotic abuse, I hope they work when I actually need them because I’ll be antibiotic resistant..if this doesn’t work I’m just going on accutane."

For Strep Throat "Took this after I got too sick off of Clindamycin. Took one 500 mg pill and it quickly went downhill. About one hour in, I felt nauseas and liked someone sucker punched me below the ribs. Five minutes later I was sweating and noticed my heart was racing. I checked and it was beating 136 BPM. I then had trouble breathing and was in the toilet with intense diarrhea. Heart rate and breathing got so bad I got taken to the ER. While waiting 2 hours I finally returned to somewhat normal. But my gosh. What a horrible drug. AVOID"

For Dental Abscess "erythromycin used to work fine for me when I had a dental abscess, but this time I left it too long, and it reduced the pain, but it came back. I think you have to treat the abscess early for it to work properly. I can't have penicillin. Gave a bit of acid reflux."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "This was used for my Gastroparesis which is a condition that slows down digestion paralyzing the stomach. This stuff really helped me digest food better, I was able to eat almost normal when on this medication. Unfortunately I can only be on it for a short period of time because it loses its effect if taken too long. I also had some side effects, if I got to warm or was outside in the sun I would break out in tiny bumps all across my stomach. I was on the liquid medication. I was on and off this medication for a few months due to Pneumonia and Pneumoperitoneum and Gastroparesis. I am young adult in her early 20s."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Worked but ended up with severe bloating and tummy problems now. And the real problem was the cost was $80 the first time second within a month it went up to $160.00 shame on the company and shame on the government for allowing this those cost with insurance. Needless to say never got it the second time had to switch to a less effective type."

For Lyme Disease "I had symptoms of Lyme disease but not the rash for six months or more. Pain in hip, and knees. I tried my phone in another pocket, new shoes, orthotics and hot and cold packs. Everything worked slight but nothing total and it was getting worse. Then it really started to hit my knees with swelling. That's when I realized it was Lyme. I live in the country and had tick bites many times and nothing. The last one must have had it. I called a medical friend and got a call in Rx for docycycline. The next day after starting all symptoms were gone. 21 days was the time allowed by law. When the doxy was gone all symptoms came back and in a week as bad as before and getting worse. I couldn't get more .because of the law and had learned that in late stage 21 days is not enough and you need 35. I got from Canada but by then was allergic to it and could hardly walk. I finally got erythromycin from overseas that did it in only a couple weeks but by then had slight permanent damage in one knee."
