In my third month of taking Gianvi I have had major mood swings, depression, anxiety, and changes in appetite varying from nausea to over eating. I have not felt like this before with any other birth control. A little with Ortho-Tri Cyclen but I don't think it is as bad as this. I feel like I'm at constant war with myself to keep my emotions and my feelings in line. I'm not a usually emotional person so all these feelings are very overwhelming and frustrating. I have an appointment in a week to go to planned parenthood and ask for a different kind of birth control. I've decided to stop taking it today. It does work however, I have not gotten pregnant.

I first want to say that I read a bunch of reviews before starting Gianvi and became extremely nervous because of all the negatively. However, my experience has been absolutely wonderful, with only one complaint. I am on my third pack and am having the best periods of my life. Little cramps, no bloating, no mood swings, light flow, AMAZING! My mood overall has also been very positive. I'm much less stressed and don't feel as anxious. As for my skin, like my doctor said it did break out very bad at first, but it is clearing up. Also, my breasts have gotten noticeably bigger, which I love. My one and only complaint is I tend to be dry during sex, which has never been a problem before. But hey, there's things to help with that.

I was on Yaz since I was 16 (now I'm 25), I got switched to Gianvi 3 months ago. First month was okay, I didn't notice much changes, but the last 2 months were horrible. My mood swings are horrible, I go from extra happy to sad in a second, I have no energy what so ever, I used to not be able to sit in one place for 10 minutes now I can't drag myself from the couch, I'm extra sleepy and tired, my appetite is off the chart. I feel like I haven't eaten in days after eating a meal. I started having horrible migraines, it gets to the point that I feel like if I open my eyes my head will explode. I snap at every little thing, the things that never bugged me before, drive me up the wall now.

I began taking Yaz about a year ago and I love it. While on Yaz, I never noticed any changes in my mood, or my body. However within the last few months I switched to the generic version Gianvi hoping to save some money. At first I didn't notice any difference, but slowly I have been getting more and more emotional, and anxious....something that I have never had a problem with before. And now I have been having a breakthrough period for the past 15 days straight, while on my active pills. I am not sure if this is because of the Gianvi, but I can't think of what else it could be. I will be switching back to Yaz ASAP. It is worth the extra money. I do not recommend Gianvi to anyone.

I have been on YAZ for years and haven't had any issues switching over to Gianvi. I have been told by my doctor I may have PMDD. Gianvi hasn't made my symptoms worse but I haven't felt any difference since switching over. I asked my doctor about her other patients switching to Gianvi, and so far none of them have had any issues either.

I had never been on birth control before Gianvi. My boyfriend and I both wanted me to take it, and if there's anything positive I have to say about it is it does its job with preventing pregnancy. Other than that, I have incredible mood swings from happy to incredibly depressed. Ever since I started taking it about 5 or 6 months ago I haven't in the slightest bit been as happy as I used to be. My personality has completely changed, I've lost weight honestly. I get mad over little things, etc. etc. I don't know. It's tearing me apart. I don't recommend it to anyone.

I switched to Gianvi from Yaz because of the price after Yaz stopped that cool $25 program. I wasn't interested in paying over $50 for birth control. I must admit, I was freaking out after I read the reviews on this site. My doctor calmed me down after I called her and she was right. There is one positive review on this site that I read that gave me courage to try. Therefore, ladies I have to echo the wise girl that said you have to try it in order to know if it works for you or not. I am on my third pack of Gianvi and I am okay. I may be a bit more emotional at times, but I was a wreck when I started Yaz, so that's no different. I am not breaking out any different from the past. My libido has not changed, and my weight is not affected.

I had been taking YAZ for the past two years and my doctor decided to put me on Gianvi. I have been taking it for the past two months and so far everything is fine except the fact that I now have horrible acne. I never really had acne problems before taking Gianvi. I decided to wait out this next month to see if there will be any change, if not then I will stop using it and try something else. I will write back at the end of the month for an update.
I was on Ortho Tri for 4 years but was starting to have some breakthrough bleeding issues with it so my doctor put me on Yaz. I'm a broke Graduate student so I went on Gianvi instead. I keep seeing all these negative reviews on here about it, but I LOVE Gianvi. My acne has almost gone away and my cramps have lessened. I did, however, have some issues adjusting to a 4 day period instead of a week long one, but after a few months that straightened out. I love Gianvi and have been on it for 6 months without issue.
I got switched to Gianvi from Yaz a little over a month ago. For the past few weeks I've been extremely emotional. I find myself almost in tears over the slightest things that normally I wouldn't even have noticed they were said. I'm suddenly very down and it takes a lot of motivation to get myself moving. I've already got another brand for when this pack runs out.
Okay, I'll do pros and cons here because there are plenty to say for both:
Pros: Cleared up my acne tremendously! I only broke out slightly around my period, but other than that I was the clearest than I had been since puberty! Also, my breasts went up about half a cup size, which is always fun. In terms of weight, I didn't notice much of a difference, neither loss or gain.
CON: It made me horribly depressed. It was a gradual slump, but after about 5 months on it, I went from being bubbly, social, and dedicated student athlete to someone who didn't want to do much but sit in bed and sleep all day. I was still sociable, but it took effort. I finally stopped Gianvi and was back to normal in a month. Everyone's different, but be careful on this medicine.
I switched to Gianvi about a year ago and yeah, it's prevented pregnancy pretty well, but other than that I hate it. I've noticed, and so has my boyfriend, that my moods are terrible all month long. I flip out way too easily and get irritated quickly, which never happened before to this extent. I was always such a calm laid back person on Yaz.
I have been on Gianvi for three full months now. It took awhile for my body to adjust to it. For the first month, I felt really nauseous, almost like morning sickness. Food didn't sound very good. I had been on Yaz in the past and really liked it. My insurance told me to try Gianvi since it was cheaper. I have to say that I could tell my body didn't like it much at the beginning. I feel like I've leveled out now. I'm glad I stuck with it, but it wasn't much fun being sick to my stomach a lot. I have a thyroid condition as well so I can't say for sure that it was Gianvi or my thyroid issues making me tired as well. I would have stopped taking Gianvi in my third month if these issues didn't subside.
I recently switched from Yasmin to Gianvi by accident (I thought I was on Yaz instead of Yasmin and asked my doctor for the wrong pill). After reading reviews of Gianvi, I was really scared to start taking it. Many reviews mentioned increased acne, weight gain, mood swings and heavy periods. I have been taking Gianvi for 4 months now and have had no negative side effects. I have no acne, I lost 5 pounds, my periods last only 3 days and are very light and I have had no problems with my mood. I actually feel better than I did on Yasmin. Each pill works differently for each person and there are people with positive experiences with Gianvi.
I was on Yaz when my phaamacy switched me over to Gianvi about 4 months ago. I have AWFUL anxiety and depression about almost everything. I have also had a lot of changes to my appetite but have ended up losing 15 pounds because of my anxiety. I cannot wait to switch to a different birth control.
I switched to Gianvi about 3 months ago (after taking YAZ for a year). At first everything was okay, but after a few weeks, I felt more and more depressed, tired and hungry - all the time! I cannot motivate myself to do anything, and I am not a depressed kind of person. I also had headaches, high blood pressure and stomach cramps.
I have been on Gianvi for about 1 month and a half and it's great. I haven't gotten pregnant, but I have noticed my appetite change. I don't want to eat the food I used to love, but it's definitely helping me lose weight and this is ALWAYS good.
This was great birth control for the first 2 months. No mood swings, no weight gain, however my chest size did increase a little. My third month, unfortunately I started experiencing leg cramps which made me have to switch.
I don't mind it but I have noticed that sometimes my periods start the first day of the inactive pill, and sometimes they start a few days into the inactive pills.
I have been taking the Gianvi for about a year now. The first three months I felt fine, once in a blue moon I would experience nausea. But after the first three months my body was completely used to it. It was my first birth control I've ever taken. My gyno recommended it to me because she herself had been taking it for 12 years. So I trusted her opinion completely and I'm glad I did. While taking Gianvi gained 6 pounds. I needed it though and it all went to my breasts and bottom. I have grown a full cup size and my bottom looks good. Nothing went to my waist or face. My sex drive has severely gone down though, and I cry at the drop of a dime. Both developed after taking this, but I'm willing to work on these things for myself.
I started taking birth control for the first time 4 months ago (now on my 3rd packet). I did feel a little moody and the general "aches" as described for about a week. I have to say I honestly don't feel any different like some of the others have described. (I really think its a psychological side effect knowing your hormones are being messed with because after initially reading them I thought I was 'depressed' and going 'crazy' but I snapped out of it). My acne has cleared up for the most part and I haven't gained any weight. My breast size has increased by a cup and other than that I feel fine. No tiredness or anything.
I'm so glad I tried this birth control. After reading all the negative reviews, I was honestly scared. I have been on it 3 months now and I have had a really good experience. No weight gain (may have even lost a few lbs), my skin looks the same (never had a problem with acne in the first place), and I can honestly say my mood swings are more stabilized the week before my period. I used to feel depressed for about a week and a half prior to getting my period and now I only feel down during the four days where I'm taking the placebo pills. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo in the past and that made me gain approximately 10-15 lbs and made me have crazy mood swings, so I'm really glad I tried Gianvi despite the reviews.
When first taking this medicine, I was a bit nervous after having read so many negative reviews. Needless to say, this birth control has actually worked beautifully for me so far and I am going into month three of taking it. I did experience severe nausea twice, once in the first month and again in the second---But other than that, no significant changes in my skin, weight, menstrual cycle, etc. My breasts increased in size only slightly. I will say, however, that the most surprising side effect was an increased sex drive, as I had assumed that my libido would take a dive after starting birth control in general.
My pharmacy switched me from Yaz to Gianvi a few months ago. I have since gained 18 lbs in that short amount of time. I'm off of Gianvi now and noticed that my appetite decreased by half when I quit taking Gianvi. I also became more depressed with the medicine. I would just want to lay around all day.
I haven't gotten pregnant yet, but around the same time I started taking Gianvi (switched from Yaz to save money) I lost 10 lbs and cannot seem to gain it back no matter how much I eat. My acne is also back, which I really dislike. Not sure if I will actually switch back though since I am a college student and $20 more every three months is a lot for me.
