Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I'm 25, haven't had an actual period in years (was on an IUD called Mirena). It was working fantastically for 7 years, then came the expiration date. My desire to search for a new method of birth control began. Considering how long I'd been on the IUD, I figured let's try something new. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE, it has been HORRIBLE finding a birth control that would fit my body, and Yaz was NO exception. I have been taking the pill for two months. Side effects came gradually, things you'd assume: breast tenderness, cramping, bloating, lower back sensitivity. But there was something much more sinister bubbling up, so slowly I didn't even notice, until I became a completely different woman. I have never been more depressed. Low energy, irritability, general feeling of discomfort, hopelessness, EMOTIONAL, crying all the time. Do your research, but based on my experience, RUN."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I was taking this pill for 2 years. During this time, my long waist-length hair started to fall out very gradually. After about a year, my thick hair had become thin and had all broken off to neck length. My doctor was adamant that this pill was not causing my problem and sent me for blood tests to see whether I had some sort of deficiency. These all came back normal. I made the decision to come off the Yasmin pill last year. My hair has only just started to grow back - this is after a year of not taking the pill. I am absolutely certain after reading other women’s reviews on here that Yasmin caused my hair to fall out. Please, please consider what you are doing when taking this pill. I took this pill like many because it is marketed as the only pill that doesn’t make you gain weight. Putting on a little weight wouldn’t have hit my mental health as hard as losing all of my hair has."

Nikki (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "It is important to remember that only people who have had either awful or a great experience review things... most people are just average! Anyways, I LOVE Nikki. No side effects other than spotting a week before placebo for a few months (very light, only needed a liner, so it didn’t bother me!) No weight gain, depression, NOTHING. OH, and she cleared my acne! I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a pimple. Remember that everyone’s body is different, so don’t get scared reading the reviews."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was diagnosed with PMDD 3 years ago by my gynecologist & was prescribed Yaz. Let me just say that it changed my hormones to a more controllable manner. I love Yaz & I cannot live without it (honestly) without Yaz I have severe depression during ovulation & cannot get out of bed. PMDD was interfering with my day-to-day life & relationships. After 3 months of taking Yaz I felt 100% better, I know that every medication has side effects but I didn't get any on Yaz. I came off Yaz after my wedding to try for a baby & fell pregnant within 8 weeks. I have now given birth & straight back on it as I wouldn't be able to go through PMDD with a newborn baby."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I used Ortho Tri-Cyclen-Lo from 16-18 years old. My periods were easy without any side effects. By mid-18 years old, I was experiencing painful and heavy periods, with strong emotional swings. My emotions became unpredictable, extremely reactive, and at times I experienced deep depression and strong suicidal thoughts - completely contrary to my personality and traits. My parents requested I leave university, until that night we read about Yaz studies. Yaz was the only birth control with proven study results showing Yaz helps to control PMDD, which described exactly what I was experiencing. Yaz was immediately successful. Three and a half years later, I am still on Yaz and graduating with a Neuroscience degree. P.S. Generic Yaz experience was unsuccessful. 03/31/17"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I had always had really good skin, so when I started having acne at 23 years old, I was distraught. Before taking Yasmin, I tried antibiotics that did not work and made me feel sick! So I decided to try Yasmin. The doctor said it would be about a month before I saw any real difference. Still, after three weeks, I was still breaking out every day and completely stressing out. I was in a panic, I exfoliated my whole bloody chin off, burnt my face off with retinoids and benzoyl, and cried most nights. One week into my second pack, I have not had a pimple in 5 days, it's amazing. I also take zinc supplements, probiotics, and magnesium, which help. I have decided to share my experience because reading the reviews helped me believe things would get better. Acne destroyed my self-esteem and made me very depressed and self-conscious. Yasmin worked wonders for me, and I’m so grateful. Just know you are beautiful no matter what and know that acne is only temporary and will get better if you keep trying."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "So I was skeptical about taking this birth control due to reading the mixed reviews. I’m glad I took it anyway. I just finished my second pack, and I’m also using a prescription acne cream called Retin-A. My skin definitely cleared up. I had constant cystic acne, whiteheads, and blackheads. I looked like a teenager, and I’m in my mid-twenties. My skin has occasional breakouts during my period week. Nothing crazy, maybe 3 pimples at the most, which is a huge improvement from before, where I would have like 20 at one time. I definitely recommend this birth control. Also, I’m not pregnant ;)"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Girls, it really depends on your body type and how you process the hormones intake. I am using Yaz, and it's my first time ever using birth control pills. When I read the reviews here, it made me scared and insecure. Why? Because of all the 'NEVER TAKE THIS PILL', 'IT DOESN'T WORK', 'IT IS HORRIBLE' comments. You never know how it is going to work for someone else. In my experience, Yaz has been great since the beginning: no cramps, no PMS, no headache, no nausea (use it before you sleep or with a full stomach), nothing except for a little bloating in the first week and breast tenderness. Hope it works for you too."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I was suffering from acne since 12 years. Now I am 27. I had taken various costly treatments, including chemical peeling and other cosmetic treatments. When I was 25, my skin specialist suggested Yasmin. I took it for 11 months. In the first month, I had a little bit of headache and nausea, but in the second month, there was no discomfort like that. In the third month, my face was almost clear, and by the end of the 11th month, my skin started glowing, there was not a single acne or mark on my face. Friends started asking about my glowing skin. I did not gain weight. But I stopped taking Yasmin after getting glowing skin, within one year, acne came back. Now, I am starting it again."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I told myself I would come back and write a review cause I drove myself crazy reading them all. I had terrible hormonal acne on my cheeks and jawline and nothing worked, including topical products, diet changes, and even other birth control brands. I decided to try Yaz and let me tell you- it worked so well. The first 3 months it got much, MUCH worse then it was before Yaz. I was so discouraged and miserable, but I held out. The first two months especially were terrible. But after my third pack, new breakouts heavily decreased and completely stopped half way into the 4th pack. Im now on month 10 and it was so so so worth it. I have maybe one breakout a month. Please don’t read bad reviews and think this won’t work for you. People are much more likely to leave a bad review than a good one. Try it for yourself and persist for 4 months. I wish I could tell myself to do it sooner. Good luck!!!"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I am almost finishing my 4th pack of generic Yaz, and I’d love to report better news, but my acne is not better, actually worse. All over my upper neck and jawline, which is hormonal acne - which is what I thought this BC specialized in! And I’m 32, so this shouldn’t be happening like I’m some teen in high school with acne. Definitely started the BC journey and saw it purging and getting “worse” before better. But then 4 weeks ago, my acne got terrible. I have tons of activity and surface whiteheads and even some cystic acne. I told myself I would try to complete 5 months, but I just don’t see this getting better. Yes, my skin has improved from when I had a really bad episode of acne 4 weeks ago, but it's still pretty bad. What a disappointment. I’ll report if anything changes..."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I suffered with severe PMDD for a few years and felt completely hopeless during my mood swings. No motivation and just completely lost. I started Yaz almost 5 months ago (along with Prozac) and will never go back. I was skeptical/nervous at first because of all the mixed reviews, but was willing to try anything to get my life back. I did have some nausea and diarrhea in the beginning, but it just lasted a few weeks."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I'm on Yasmin for 3 years. 3 very long years. I started on Yaz and had it for a year and had breakthrough bleeding, so I was told to go onto Yasmin. Well, I've gained two stone. Skin is spotty around the time of the month, which never used to happen. I cry if I'm tired or angry. I cry if something happens that wasn't supposed to. I'm very emotional. I've had enough of it now and am changing the pill after my break. My sex drive? Nonexistent. My mood swings? Dangerous. My body? Fat and tired."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I'm now on my fourth pack of Yasmin after being on it for just over 2 months. When I first went on it, my skin was absolutely awful, big spots and bumps everywhere - I have never really suffered with spots on my cheeks, however, after being on this pill, I have suffered a lot everywhere on my face. At this point, my skin is still awful and not consistent in clearing up a bit. I have no idea what to do, as I've been on it for not even 3 months, but it's getting to the point where I don't want to go to school and feel self-conscious speaking to anyone - it is extremely affecting my mental health because my skin's so bad :( I want to stay on it because of the good reviews, however, I don't know how much longer I can take this. What do I do?!?!"

Syeda (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE Syeda! During Covid-19, my pharmacy switched me to Syeda from Ocella. I didn’t think anything of it. Oh boy, was I wrong. Gained 20 lbs FAST, had severe acne, and crazy depression and anxiety. Thought it was all due to Covid-19 stress. However, from doing my research, I am now learning Syeda messed me up! Throwing it out now."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I used this as a treatment for my acne and PMS symptoms. I don't believe it! This medicine is a miracle! My acne is completely gone! (I've suffered from acne since I was in 4th grade, doctor-medicated cream didn't work on my skin! 14 years I've suffered from acne) And now my acne is completely gone, and not only is my acne gone, my pores have also become invincible. Say goodbye to my nasty oily skin! Now I only wash my face with warm water! (No soap, no toner, or chemicals whatsoever) With Yasmin, my PMS symptoms and cramps are also gone! This is the best medicine that works! It balances your hormones and reduces oily skin!"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I am currently on this pill and have never felt so low and depressed in my life. I have been on it for around 2 months, and for the past two weeks, I have cried every day, had no motivation, a lack of relationships, and had really dark thoughts. I am generally such a bubbly and sociable person, but I have canceled plans, been absent from work, and had no motivation. This pill has caused me to have depression and feelings of being low-coming off it tomorrow and just hoping it makes a difference. At the clinic, the lady said that this is good for mood swings-she was wrong! If you are feeling down, please come off it immediately because it can really affect your life negatively."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Seriously, beware of this birth control. I was on Yaz for about two years, and the negative side effects of this pill are never-ending. This birth control caused me to go into a deep depression for the entire duration I was on it. I was on and off anti-depressants trying to combat the negative effects and ultimately got to the point where I was completely anti-social and so anxious/depressed that I was skin and bones. It even got to the point where I was having suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. Once my doctor determined these all may have been side effects of Yaz (not sure why it took so long for my doctor to realize this, but that's another conversation), I stopped taking it, and within 24 hours, nearly all of the negative side effects were gone. Crazy! Long story short, this birth control literally ruined my life for two years. I highly recommend avoiding this unless there is some specific circumstance that causes this birth control to be your only option."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I was prescribed Yasmin by my GP 3 years ago. After 2 months, I became depressed and very moody, but the acne on my back cleared up. I decided to come off it for my sanity, my moods improved, but my acne returned. 7 months ago, I decided to give it another go. This time has been fantastic. I'm 31, and my skin has never looked so clear, and my hair growth is much faster. I have always been a B - C cup, but 7 months on, I am a DD. My mood never changed, and I just feel great. I wouldn't change from Yasmin now, it's been great for me."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Over the past 10 years, I gradually realized the link of having severe depressive-like symptoms, anger, rage, and extreme fatigue two weeks before my period. It got worse in my mid to late twenties, culminating in an almost nervous breakdown and me having to take two months off work in my new career at the hospital. This I put down to an inability to cope with the stress of working in acute care, but really it was debilitated by the effects of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) every month. Armed with research on Yaz online, I consulted a doctor in the UK who had never heard of it. Anyway, I insisted on the medication, and to this day have never looked back. I notice a huge difference in taking it and am almost symptom-free psychologically. It might not be for everyone, but if it does work, it's fully life-changing. I am very happy with the results so far. Now nearing 30 and much happier."

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I have struggled with acne my whole life. I have taken everything you can imagine besides Accutane. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and stopped for about three years since I didn’t want to take any medication. During this time, I got off birth control, my acne and bacne kept getting worse! I never thought that I would type these words, but Loryna has worked miracles! It is only one month in, and my skin is almost completely clear (which it never has been in my life). I keep touching it to see if it’s real. I also was so worried about side effects since all four other pills I tried (other BC) made me so nauseous. I only had a little bit of nausea the first few days, but then nothing with Loryna! I also was bloated the first two weeks, but it went away and I am also the same weight! I have never loved a BC more, and I almost didn’t try it because of the reviews. I hope it helps everyone else."

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Was on Gianvi for about 2 years before CVS/Aetna switched me to Loryna. While I was taking Loryna I was a raging lunatic the entire time. I am typically a very laid back, easy going person, very non-confrontational, but on this pill, I literally could not control myself. Every single thing made me so unreasonably mad. I knew at the time I was overreacting to everything, but I couldn't help it. I never felt so out of control in my entire life. Eventually lead to me crying hysterically in CVS begging for them to fix my prescription, telling the pharmacist she should be in prison for changing my meds, causing a scene and getting kicked out. After that I stopped taking the pill, and never returned to that cvs."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "So, to anyone reading this, I want to first state that everyone will have a different experience, everybody is unique, and with most BC pills, you need to wait 3 months in order for your body to adjust. However, this being said, after only a week on Yaz, I began noticing drastic improvements in mood. I was supposed to be suffering from PMS/PMDD this past week as my period starts next week, and for the first two days, I was definitely an emotional wreck, but the following days, I noticed the horrible depression and anxiety I normally get for two weeks out of the month just suddenly lifted. I am also experiencing very little nausea with Yaz in comparison to other BCs I’ve taken, and the appetite increase I usually feel around this time also disappeared. I’m pretty happy so far, I’m hoping it will help with my cystic acne and that any other symptoms won’t be too severe."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I had tried every skin cleanser/treatment on the market! Two different types of antibiotics and two different pills (Levlen and Loette). Then I tried Yasmin. The first 3 months I broke out quite severely, but now my skin has cleared up. I still have the odd pimple, but it disappears in 1-3 days rather than weeks! I take Yasmin and treat breakouts with Epiduo and pimple patches. I have stopped wearing makeup to work, which has also made a huge difference! I used to spend nights crying about my skin (a little dramatic, I know!). This is just my personal experience, but I hope it can help someone else! There have been no other side effects, my mood is happy, and no weight gain or loss!"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I've been experimenting with different brands of birth control for 15 years. I took every pill under the sun, including the shot but always suffered terrible side effects from nausea and vomiting, to crazy mood swings, depression, anxiety and weight gain. Yaz is the ONLY pill I've been able to tolerate. I have very minimal side effects (some breast tenderness, occasional spotting). My skin looks great, I have more energy, I haven't gained a single pound, my periods are light, I still have a sex drive, and my emotions are not all over the place. I get that everyone is different and what works for some may be a nightmare for others, but if you've not been able to tolerate any other brands I'd give Yaz a try."
