Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "After having amoxicillin and co amoxiclav that did not touch the chronic sinus issues I have, I was given cipro. Due to the fact I am immune to antibiotics and usually I'm into week and my symptoms are getting worse cause none of the antibiotics I have been given by a gp have worked. Cipro is the only 1 I find helpful, 250mg I was given this time because I've had many other antibiotics that have not worked at all. Also I taken it for an ear infection when nothing else has worked. I find it good it can take sometimes over 5 days to work but I am usually given 10 days worth. Its a hard antibiotic to get because no one likes giving it to you but cause I'm a complicated case I have been given it. I would say try it because every antibiotic has side effects After all its just what they do. I get diarrrhea that is it nothing that is intolerable to a bad extent."

"Pros. I found that it worked quick and with 1 day of taking it felt so much better. One of the fastest working antibiotics I've had because amoxicillin and co amoxiclav stopped working for me. Cons. Makes you feel like rubbish, bad stomach the runs and low of energy. If you get a lower graded antibiotics and It works for you stick to that as long as you can unfortunately I have an immunity to most antibiotics so it's only one I can have."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I was prescribed the cipro tablets for 10 days for a resistant bacterial sinusitus infection. The medication did work in clearing the infection when the other 2 medications previous had failed. While on Cipro I experienced extreme nightmares, very disturbing dreams and sleep interruptions. I experienced continual bitter taste in my mouth. I experienced abdominal discomfort, IBS and diarrhea. I also experienced ringing in my ears/tinnitus at the time of taking Cipro and ever since, which is a time span from 2009 to 2021. I have permanent damage to my hearing and quality of life since taking this drug."

"I have taken this drug many times due to my allergies to most families of antibiotics. I have always tolerated it generally well, however the last two times I took it, I had extreme anxiety and panic attacks, as well as feeling like crying even though I wasn't sad. The first time I completed my dose and assumed it was my anxiety disorder causing it. I felt better and better the next week or two after I was done with my dose, but didn't connect the two. However the next time I took the medication, I felt the exact same. Extremely anxious to the point where Klonopin wouldn't calm me down, and sadness for no reason. I stopped after 3 days in and noticed a great decrease in mental symptoms the next day, dissipating within a week or so. I am lucky to have no physical symptoms, as I still work out almost daily and had no tendon issues or soreness, however due to all of the complaints from others, and the mental effects it had on me, I won't take it again."

"After taking just 1 pill, a few hours later had severe ringing in left ear which practically lasted all night, nightmares when I finally fell asleep. No way was I going to carry on. I went back to the Doctor the next morning and asked for a different antibiotics. Still have slight tinnitus 2 days after, so lucky I didn't carry on obviously this antibiotics were too strong for me."

"I’m allergic to most antibiotics. Cipro is the only one I can take without severe side affects off and on for 20 years. The only side affect for me over the years - with never more then 10 days at a time prescription - is a very mild stomach ache. Almost all other antibiotics make me feverish, very dizzy and light headed, give me hives, cause facial swelling, make me feel hot then get chills, cause diarrhea, nausea, sometimes debilitating fatigue. … I have used Cipro for UTI’s and currently sinusitis. It’s a life saver with hardly noticeable side effects for me, who had a very sensitive system and rarely takes medication."

"I have a splitting headache, am nauseous and having episodes of sweating and shaking after taking 6 doses of oral Cipro. My ENT wants to have the Cipro compounded so it could be added to nasal rinses twice a day for 30 days to avoid systemic problems. Has anyone else gone this route?"

"Tolerated very well. After reading other comments, I was very skeptical to try due to negative side effects. Made sure to drink plenty of water from day 1. No side effects and 1 day left of treatment."
