"I had UTI two years ago, I had prescribed myself Cipro. It was very painful UTI. I felt better within less than 24 hours. CIPRO is amazing antibiotic for UTI. I never had any side effects. Reading others experience is scary. I am currently on cipro again since yesterday because I have UTI again. 500 mg every 12 hours. I had 3 pills so far. No noticeable side effects. If don't feel improvement yet. I hope my UTI clear up completely by end of the treatment course (5 days)."

"This is a miracle pill! It works for UTI's. As a little girl up until now and I'm 29 I've always got UTI's, especially in my early 20's every month literally. After meeting with the specialist who prescribed me Cipro, he said take 1 pill when you feel the symptoms and ever since then I feel my UTI's are under control I've got 2-3 per year which is amazing for me considering I been getting these my whole life, I can't be more pleased!! I had no side affects from the pill. Thank you doctor for this prescription!! Happy patient"

"I unfortunately got a UTI during a trip in Bali and was prescribed cipro 500 for a 10 day course from a clinic here. My dr back home said try it for 3 days and if I still have problems push it to 5 days. I HATE taking meds, so after reading a ton of reviews and side effects for this drug I was very hesitant to take it. I waited 3 days until I couldn’t take it anymore and was in unbearable pain to finally start the course. I felt so much better day 1 and fortunately day 3 I’m feeling back to normal and luckily no major side effects except slight itchiness all over within the first few hours and a little bit of chest pressure (probably anxiety from taking this!) I actually felt more alert than normal. I’m going to stop today and hopefully will remain feeling good. I am rating this an 8 because it’s a heavy duty antibiotic and I think there are other choices I could’ve taken that aren’t as strong, for an uncomplicated uti- but that’s all they had available here."

"I took Cipro for a UTI. It worked great. I took 750mg twice a day for 10 days and it worked perfectly. After the first dose I start feeling relief from my UTI symptoms ( frequent urge, slight incontinience, shy bladder, etc). I gave Cipro a thumbs up. I am late twenties, male, active, no allergies."

"Prescribed Cipro for a urinary tract infection 500 mg 1 every 12 hrs, noticed a great difference after 2 pills. Made me feel a little sick still after 3 days so I started breaking the tablet in half to help with the blah feeling. Works great for urinary tract infection."

"Amazing! I’m 19 from the UK and was getting recurrent UTIs no matter what I did to prevent them. 2 rounds of nitrofurnantion & trimethoprim didn’t do the trick and symptoms were awful and in a lot of pain/discomfort. Was making me soo miserable. Doc put me on week long course of cipro & I felt sooo much better after the 1st dose! So happy! Don’t let the side effects scare you, and to be honest, even if I did happen to get side effects, it is a balancing act of relief or side effects anytime you take meds. Still got a few days left of taking it but I’m so glad how well this has worked in only the first dose! Hoping I never get one of these again and I hope all these bad reviews doesn’t put anyone off lol x"

"Great medication for curing UTI but the side effects are horrendous and not worth it. After 3 days tendon pain in my heels, pain and tingling in my feet made it almost impossible to walk. Dr. took me off immediately and now, more than 3 months later the pain is finally beginning to subside. Never suffered side effects from any medication when younger but now at 65 have to be extremely careful."

"This medication worked quickly for me and I had no side effects. I took 500mg for 7 days. I had a horrible UTI where my urine smelled absolutely rancid. Within 48hrs this medication took away the terrible smell and provided me relief. I’m so grateful, thank you!"

"I'm a 25 year old woman and I was prescribed cipro for a UTI. I got 250mg twice daily for three days. I got this yesterday and today I've taken three pills in total. I have a horrid fear of vomiting, I become suicidal when I think I'm going to be sick. So I'm very particular and paranoid about my antibiotics. I usually respond well to antibiotics but not this! I didn't vomit, thank goodness but three pills in and I'm lightheaded, light sensitive, bloated like no other, abdominal pain and kinda nauseous, itchy and muscle pain. Not to mention my anxiety is sky high! I'm writing this before my current panic attack makes me unable to write. Hope these side effects leave and don't stay! Very paranoid!"

"Took Cipro two separate times for UTI but still had the infection after completing each course exactly as prescribed. I avoided dairy per instructions and took each tablet 12 hours apart. Both times after Cipro failed, my doctor then prescribed a three day course of Levaquin which worked perfectly."

"I used Cipro for a urinary tract infection (I do not usually get urinary tract infections). The first night I took it, I felt better by the next morning. It took a few hours before I felt better (where I didn't have to go to the bathroom every 3 minutes), but it let me sleep and by the next day that burning sensation had gone away. The only side effect, was I felt nauseated and sluggish the first day. After that, it was great to get back to normal."

"Cipro works well for me without incurring any noticeable negative side effects. Strangely though, I get many of the terrible side effects described by some here when taking levofloxacin - the insomnia, the crippling panic attacks, etc. It just goes to show, I suppose, how differently these meds affect different individuals."

"Not a fan. Went to urgent care for a particularly painful UTI and was prescribed cipro and immediately took the first dose. The plus side is it started working almost immediately. 24 hours later and I'm about 90% better already. However after taking the second pill I developed some slight nausea and then several hours later noticed some muscle pain in my calves and behind my knees and it has now spread to my shoulders and wrists. After reading that cipro can cause serious and permanent damage I quit using it immediately and asked to be switched to a different antibiotic. Not worth it!"

"Symptoms I had before being put on Cipro were the usual - blood in urine, pressure on bladder, need to pee every 10 seconds even after going, stinging. After being on 500 mg twice almost all the symptoms were gone but the side effects were horrible. I had nausea, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness and some chest pain. The size of the pills are relatively huge too. Not supposed to split them but I did anyway cos it got stuck in my throat and made me throw up my dinner once. I put the split pill into a 00 veggie capsule which makes it easy to swallow and I can't taste the bitterness."

"I had a UTI with some blood showing in my urine prior to taking two 500mg Cipro tabs a day. Which I took for 3-4 days. I went for a short 1/2 mile walk. Toward the end of the walk I started limping as my right inner foot arch was becoming more and more painful to the point I couldn't walk efficiently anymore. I limped back home trying to figure out why was I having all the pain in my foot? As I didn't twist or turn it or anything like that? I stopped taking the Cipro and the tendon pain in my foot lessened each day. Cipro removed the infection, but it left me with permanent plantar fascia tendon damage in my foot. I wouldn't recommend Cipro to anyone. The first side effect listed is causes tendon damage-ruptures. Not good people/FDA."

"This drug (Cipro) caused me irreversible joint damage after 2 pills, it also caused weakness, high blood pressure and mental changes. I was weak and unstable for months after use. Years later I still have joint damage. I would NOT recommend, even though it did clear my UTI. This drug should be used as a last resort, only in life or death situation when permanent joint damage is better than the alternative."

"This is poison and can cause long term muscular, joint and nerve damage and degeneration. After one pill I felt leg pain and tightness that felt muscular in nature. I talked to my doctor and she didn't associate it with cipro. After another day of taking it, the pain began migrating, heading into my joints and moving all around my body. I popped my shoulder and had excruciating pain taking my briefcase out of my car. I read on line and found out about cipro toxicity. I called my doctor and said I read about this and given my symptoms I thought I should stop it. They agreed. I have been off the pills for 5 days now and still have the roving pains. Mostly in legs, shooting, burning, aching, tight alternating. Hands,shoulders,knees..."

"I had a urinary tract infection, which unfortunately went up to my kidneys so my MD prescribed Cipro. I already felt better after 2 days of taking it however I was getting terrible headaches that do not go away even if I take over the counter meds. That's the least of my worries though, as long as my infection got treated."

"Oh man thank God for this drug!!!!!! I literally JUST realized I have a UTI and I'm out of the country, but I have ciprofloxacin with me. I can tell I only just developed the UTI since symptoms weren't unbearable yet. Within the last 30 minutes since taking the pill I already have some relief. I'm concerned about the possible side effects after reading these reviews, but honestly I feel like anything is better than a UTI."

"I’ve suffered from recurring UTIs all my life. I can’t take cephalosporins because of allergies or macrobid because it caused gastric bleeding (talk about making things worse...). Cipro has worked like a charm for me every time, with no side effects. For some reason doctors always say Cipro isn’t their first choice for UTIs, but since I’m allergic to the usual go-to’s, this works for me. I’ve had some doctors provide a 3-day course, others 7-day. I would ask about dosage. Seems to me there are some doctors who overmedicate, particularly urgent care. My doc always prescribes 3-day. Urgent care has always given 7. Worth asking, is all I’m saying. As someone who got allergic to some antibiotics by taking them too much (for UTIs), I’m always nervous about taking extra antibiotics than needed, but be careful to get a drs opinion - don’t stop early or you can end up with bigger problems (like a recurring infection that’s now immune to that antibiotic)"

"I have a bad UTI and was doubled over in severe pain. After the first pill of Cipro (500 mills), the pain has lessened dramatically. I'm shocked it worked so quickly! However, all antibiotics make me nauseous and fatigued, but I'll take that over severe pain."

"Was effective for my bladder infection but side effects are not good. After 3 days of medication, I developed severe pain in my Achilles tendon, both ankles. It continues to this day, 2 months later. I've also developed severe pain (tendonitis?), in my elbows. Never had this pain before taking Cipro."

"I was put on Cipro to treat a urinary tract infection. I was already on a medication that suppressed my immune system and even though the Cipro did wonders for my UTI, the side effects were unbearable. I was directed to take 1 250mg tabs twice daily for 3 days. I was only able to get through the first 2 days. The side effects were from what was a mild headache the first day to a severe headache the second day accompanied with muscle pain, joint aches, shortness of breath and even chest palpitations on the right side. I went in to see my doc and he said to come off them because even though they worked well for my UTI, my body was clearly unable to tolerate the side effects. Overall I say the medicine is very effective but is also strong so beware side effects."
