For Anxiety "I've had severe anxiety since I was a child, I've always worried about something usually health related. In my late teens I began to have panic attacks, seen the doctors and they all gave stuff like prozac, zoloft, and hydroxyzine. But last year I was having bad anxiety that lasted for weeks at a time and it was all panic attacks. I was getting heart rates in the 150s at a minimum and 180 at the max in the ER bed, they tried the hydroxyzine and Benadryl to calm me down and knock me out, it didn't really work. Then I got a different ER dr who gave me Atenolol 25MG, and let me tell you, this is the ONLY thing that worked. It stops panic attacks right in its tracks after 30 mins or so. No shakiness, no high heart rate, no sweating. Even in stressful situations which you would normally panic you stay calm, it doesn't act up. I take half a pill as needed, and when I need it, it always worked and has kept me out of the ER for anxiety. If your dr gives you this I highly recommend you try it."

For High Blood Pressure "I’ve been on Atenolol 50mg and Losartan Potassium 50mg for about 3 years. This will probably be the worst period in my life. My weight went from 78kg to 87kg on same diet, I couldn’t workout again because it was difficult getting out of bed. I was constantly drowsy with joint pains, lower back pains, swollen knees and ankles, occasional itchy throat, usually wake up in the morning with tingling or numb fingers all swollen. I had 2 mild accidents while driving due to drowsiness. My doctor made me do so many tests: ECG, Cortisol test, cholesterols etc. but I didn’t know what was the cause of my ailments until I ran out of my med during this Covid-19 lockdown for 3 days and all my symptoms disappeared except that my bp was 145/80 so I stopped taking these two med. I’m back on water pills only, trying to lose weight: I have never felt so good in about 3 years! Please monitor your symptoms or lifestyle changes while on Atenolol"

For Anxiety "I don’t normally have high BP or anxiety. I was prescribed atenolol 25 mg daily years ago in the midst of a divorce, by a concerned obgyn who was worried about my very high BP and stress/anxiety. I’m so glad he recommended this over anti-anxiety meds! It really helped me sleep and got me through that tough time. I appreciate its subtle calming affect that does not alter my mood. I began taking it again 6 weeks ago due to stress, and again I’m so impressed with how subtle it is and how “normal” I feel. I’m now cutting the dose down to 12.5 mg because it was making me a little too drowsy. I hope that’s a good sign that my anxiety is coming back down. Atenolol is a great option to try before heading to the heavier anti-anxiety arsenal, I think."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been taking 50 mg per day of atenolol, for 29 years, now. It has done two things for me. It has controlled my blood pressure dependably and it has made me a much calmer person. I have had no side effects, unless you consider being more calm a side effect. I was 33 years old, when I started atenolol and I am now 62."

Tenormin (atenolol) for Anxiety "This pill slows my heart down and relaxes me. I actually feel calm. I also take 0.5 Xanax with this and Wellbutrin 200mg. I have agoraphobia and these pills together help me function NORMALLY. YES CAN YOU BELIEVE IT **NORMALLY**. I never thought normal would ever be in my vocab."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on this medication atenolol since I was 19, I am now 50 (31 years). When I first started taking it, I struggled with the fatigue, difficulty concentrating and staying awake during the day. So, instead of taking it in the morning, I take it before bed to sleep off the side effects. I like this medication, it works well for me. I have tried other medications for short periods of time but ended up requesting atenolol because I am very familiar with it and it has fewer side effects."

For Anxiety "I've suffered situational anxiety for 4 years. Every time I had to speak in a group I'd have a panic attack. My heart would pound in my chest like a jackhammer and my voice would shake. It was so embarrassing and I feared it would hurt my career. I tried behavioral therapy and benzos to manage my anxiety. Nothing really worked until I tried Atenolol. It is an absolute Godsend. It steadied my heart rate and enabled me to not only speak in groups but also deliver presentations in front of a bunch of people. I highly recommend Atenolol for people suffering situational anxiety. I had one bad experience in public speaking my brain had learned to flood my body with adrenal any time I had to speak in public. The fight-or-flight response in my body created a vicious cycle where I would fear being afraid. I recommend behavioral therapy in conjunction with taking Atenolol. Therapy can help you understand the root mental/emotional cause of your anxiety."

For High Blood Pressure "I know it's been at least 15 yrs taking this medication. It's the ONLY one I take. It does the job no anxiety and blood pressure low. I'm 48yrs old and it does seem like I'm experience the few side affects now. I'm tired, don't sleep well, sex drive is decreased. My biggest complaint about the medication is that All OUR doctor's give us absolutely NO homeopathic alternative!!!! I read All 4 pages of comments and no one has been offered a better solution.I know drugs help but the dependency is beyond belief. A person on here posted a comment about the pharmaceutical industry depend on All of US to use these medications. With out a better solution. To me we've become drug addicts. There's gotta be a better,Natural solution to our problems."

For Anxiety "I was actually prescribed Atenoprol for my high blood pressure but a week after starting, I was sitting in a board room about to present and noticed that I was surprisingly calm. For years I had suffered with panic attacks and severe anxiety when making presentations which I have to do frequently at work...So horribly embarrassing and uncontrollable. My bp is down too and do far no side effects."

Tenormin (atenolol) for Anxiety "I take these specifically for anxiety and it works like a dream for me. I wanted to go on something that was not addictive and I didn’t want anything that made me feel like a zombie. I wish more doctors would use medications like this as a first line treatment as it doesn’t take 4-6 weeks to get to a therapeutic level like antidepressants and there is not a risk of dependence like there is with benzodiazepines."

For High Blood Pressure "Atenolol What a joke, sure it lowers your blood pressure at what cost ,you lose your inner well being thank God i found about Nitric Factor, I am now on 12.5 mg of Atenolol to keep my heart rate at about 60 even after alcohol. I was on 50 mg a day and really felt i was not enjoying my life as felt so ill !!!!!!!! My B/P is now 130/70 it was 160/90. I know we are all different but to be honest for me i hated the dose i was given with such horrific side effects for me. I only hope this helps just one person in life as these Cardiologists have no idea of the true side affects."

For High Blood Pressure "I was prescribed Altenolol for minor high blood pressure due to pain. I’m not one take medication. The first day taking Altenolol. I was very fatigued. Second day I had a rash on my back and stomach area! The itching was like having poison Ivy. Horrible! Had to go to urgent care for a shot to stop the itching. After dealing with that issue I decided to go back to natural ways. Started on a red beet supplements! BP went down to 102-67 in three days, From 158/101. I feel like I am 25! Feeling great using natural resources instead of chemicals."

For High Blood Pressure "Had severe paroxysmal hypertension. BP is about 260/180. A blood vessel burst in my eye from high BP. I was put on atenolol and Xanax. BP decreased almost immediately. I have been on these medications for about 35 years. My BP is still normal. It saved my life!"

For Anxiety "I was prescribed atenolol for an irregular heartbeat and it worked like a charm. I have not had an episode since I started it. I also noticed a pronounced calming effect as well, which I wasn't expecting but has been welcome. The only side effect I notice is an increase in urinary urgency."

For Anxiety "It’s only been two days but my BP is lower than it’s been all year. I have rebound insomnia From Klonopin withdrawal- not my choice. Pharmacy refused to refill it after 23 years. I went through a nightmare withdrawal. Haven’t slept more than two hours a night in six months. Then all the things I was taking it for came right back. Anxiety, spasms, constant twitching etc. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, severe spinal stenosis. Sleep was always poor - woke constantly in a panic. The last two nights I’ve slept almost six hours without waking. So far no side effects. This med is a God send. Plus it was only $3.24 for a 90 day supply."

For Anxiety "I have been taking the generic Tenormin (atenenol) for probably 32 years now. 25 mg. I take it at night. Never had a problem, EXCEPT when I could not see my doctor and had to see someone else in the practice. He thought I should get off the drug; said there were new better things. He took me off it and I was going on vacation the next day or so. Worse vacation ever. I thought I was dying. My heart was pounding. I thought I would die up in the mountains. Got back on Atenol when I got back home. Everything was normal. If I accidently miss a day or so, I can tell the difference. I don't know about all the side effects other people have had, but it works great for me."

For Anxiety "I was originally prescribed atenolol for mitral valve prolapse but it does an excellent job of helping me manage physical anxiety symptoms as well. Shakes, sweats, hot flashes, palpitations are all greatly reduced. I also have glaucoma and have noticed a slight decrease in my Intraocular Pressure while taking atenolol. Overall, a very valuable medicine with many benefits."

For High Blood Pressure "I took atenolol for about a year. Suddenly noticed a weakness in my upper legs for a month then started swelling with pain in my hands and wrists, feet and ankles. My memory was also deteriorating. The pain was excruciating. It was the only medication I was taking but 5 doctors never linked my condition to the drug. This continued for months until one day I decided to quit the drug and see what happened. Within a few days the swelling subsided and was then gone within a short time. I lived with the pain for 2 1/2 to 3 years, now I feel it no longer and it took that long for my memory to improve."

For High Blood Pressure "My doctor recommended a low dose of atenolol for high blood pressure (25mg once a day) and I was afraid to take it after reading reviews here! But I am happy to report that the drug is working great for me, bringing my blood pressure from borderline back into the normal range. I am not experiencing any side effects. I would recommend to a friend!"

For Anxiety "I needed to share my experience with this drug. If I could go back in time, I WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN THIS! It worked well for my anxiety but the side effects I experienced a month later of taking this at a 12.5-25 mg dosage was awful. I had extreme shortness of breath, chest pains, tingling in my arms (especially my left arm) and feeling lethargic. I stopped taking this medication right when these side effects started as I thought I was having a heart attack and it has been the worst medication to come off of. I stopped taking this a WEEK AGO and I have had unbearable anxiety, heart palpitations all day and night, lethargy, insomnia etc. I see my doctor this week to get an EKG and do other testing after taking this drug. I know everyone's experience is different but this drug for me was a true nightmare. Side effects on any medication can start at anytime not just right away. What I had to go through this last week withdrawing from the drug, I wouldn't wish on anyone"

For High Blood Pressure "I've been on 100 mg of this medication and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It lowered my blood pressure and I also got the side benefit of reduced anxiety. No bad side effects whatsoever. This one is a 10 in my book."

For High Blood Pressure "On atenolol for 3 weeks after Dr changed meds from ramipril and amilodipine for BP. It caused joint pain, muscle cramps, brain fog, constipation, exhausted most of the time. I monitored my BP and found it did little to lower BP so I stopped for a day and started feeling better. I am going to try natural remedies for lowering my BP and start hitting the exercise and diet more. Seriously. I can’t carry on mixing a prescribed cocktail of drugs that may work for BP control but create havoc on the quality of life. I don’t recommend this drug."

For High Blood Pressure "Lowers my blood pressure 110/70 pulse 65 and keeps anxiety at bay. Love it. I've been taking atenolol since I was 33 years old and now I am 50. Downside, it keeps your sexual drive at bay too for the last 3 years. 25mg twice a day. (morning + evening)"

For High Blood Pressure "I went through a very stressful time in my life 3 years ago. My bp was 200/100. My doctor prescribed atenolol chlorithaldone 50-25, losartan potassium, amlodipine besylate, and klor con 20. My bp and bloodwork was normal. A year later the dr says I have high cholesterol and stage 3 kidney disease. I also lost my sex drive, experience depression, dizziness, leg and feet pain, charley horses mostly while sleeping, and water retention in my ankles and feet. Two years later I went into cardiac arrest, which was caused by low blood pressure. Imaging and found no heart problems. The dr took me off everything but the atenolol chlorthalidone and klor con. My bp is ok, but now I have extreme pain in my lower left leg and foot, that seems to move. My toes feel like they are asleep. I can barely walk. My potassium level is ok. I'm buying a pill splitter and going to ween off the atenolol which I know is causing my problems."
