Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "It was effective, but it made my hair fall out. When I told the doctor, his response was, "That's not a side effect." I did my own research - It IS a side effect. It is a serious side effect that the doctor's don't tell you about. I switched doctors and medication."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Bipolar Disorder "I have bipolar disorder and I've tried many medications before we found what worked without nasty side effects. I was put on risperdone and Celexa to treat it, which I still take. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and narcolepsy which my doctor put me on Nuvigil. I did not know Nuvigil could be a treatment for treating bipolar until I read about it on this site. I feel very upbeat with the Nuvugil and not tired all the time and I feel happy again. Even though I take other medicines for bipolar, I feel since I started the Nuvigil I feel even better."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "Diagnosed with narcolepsy and had frequent daily cataplexy. Nothing else worked, prior to getting diagnosed, hours and hours of sleep mixed with coffee, energy drinks and abuse of workout stimulants. After adjusting to the jitters and slight nausea, I've never felt better. Every now and then I will need a small nap, but I am sleeping deeper and sleep walking much less. I went from several cataplexy a day to only three in the last month. Those three only happened because I hadn't gotten enough sleep that night. This drug works the best for me when I get more than 6 hours of sleep, ideally 7 or 8 hours though. I am very happy overall, but it is ridiculously expensive if you aren't on an insurance plan, like me (just switched jobs)."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have OSAH and for the couple of years before this medicine- I couldn't drive more than 1 hour, or focus at work - I would fall asleep - regardless of the amount of sleep I got at night. My CPAP helped, but still dozed off during the day. Since Nuvigal things are better, but still have some sleepiness if I have a rough week of less than 8 hours of sleep at night. Insurance pays most, but THANK YOU to the manufacturer who helps cover a portion, or else it would be costly."

For ADHD "First trial of this armodafinil was amazing - by far the most effective option for my ADHD. It made me feel alert, focused and content without jitters, anxiety, appetite lost, increased heart rate or the other side affects common with stimulant based meds like Ritalin. I regularly take short breaks from meds so when I started this again, I had pretty bad anxiety and didn’t experience the calmness or focus that I had before, which was a real surprise. The main downside with armodafinil besides the inconsistent experience was that it consistently made me sweat more than usual and it’s super expensive here in Australia. I’m sure I’ll try this again but for now, I’m happier on modafinil."

For Depression "After decades of trying many drugs (and combinations) for a & rotating mix of panic disorder, anxiety, depression, CPTSD, ADHD, narcolepsy, PMDD... This unexpected drug has been a GAME CHANGER, 250mg in am. For the first time in my life (now in my 40s) I once agin see life in color and want to participate, I have a routine, I can get up in the morning, fall asleep at night, be productive the entire day, stay organized and on top of things - without any effort. Mood is the most stable it has ever been - not even getting PMS/PMDD. I take this with Bupropion. Given the Panic and Anxiety issues these drugs are known to induce, we had always steered clear of them, but ran out of options. They paradoxically make me much calmer and greatly reduce anxiety. Note: It's also significantly better than modafinil which I took for years (this more consistent & smooth)."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Bipolar Disorder "Nuvigil is a great medication. I have Bipolar disorder mixed state. I was often drowsy before taking Nuvigil. The first few days of taking 250mg of Nuvigil I felt better than ever. I was working out at the gym for an hour. Before taking the medication I couldn't even run. Depression sucked the life out of me. One of the bad side effects of Nuvigil is it induces mania/hypomania. I became hypomanic until my mood would drop down to depression and I had to take a mood stabilizer in order to normalize my mood."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have been on Nuvigil for about year and although my body is used to it, it still works and is crucial for my quality of life. I have had numerous surgeries on my spine, plus a lot of my tendons have torn (both rotator cuffs) plus both my Achilles have tiny ruptures, leaving knots on the back of my heels. My body is falling apart, but at least the Nuvigil keeps me at a pace I can handle. Two weeks ago my insurance failed to pay and my doctor gave me sample of 150mg (I had been on 250mg before). Now I am out of it all and I have crashed. My nurse called and said that it had been approved for 6 more months, so I actually get to pick it up tomorrow. Maybe I will be able to get out of the bed now and get things done."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Bipolar Disorder "Third day on this medicine, it's crazy how things are going. I used to wake up and an hour later be exhausted. Barely make it through 2 hours of college and go home and sleep 5 hours until work and sleep right after work. The past couple of days I've been able to stay awake through a movie, stay up for my favorite T.V show, do homework and laundry after school, be more attentive at my job and I don't feel like I'm on speed."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I'm a 21 year old college student. I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy without Cataplexy recently, even though it's been there basically my whole life. I'm currently on 250mg Nuvigil in the morning, and he's going to add another medication soon to help my brain sleep at night. Since I have such anxiety levels and it affects my sleep. It has helped me stay awake in class, but I still can't focus. I really don't feel much difference. I still take naps a few times a day, and I feel like the medication wears off by around 2:00PM and then I'm falling asleep again. The side effects I'm feeling are daily migraines, extreme cotton mouth, and sometimes an upset stomach."

For Drowsiness "I've taken 250 mg Nuvigil for years, the product gave me my life back. I can't express how significant it was finding a medication that could wake up my brain, and allow me to function. August 2016, Mylan release the first generic version. My insurance company immediately quit covering Branded Nuvigil. Week one - I realized it was 50% effective at keeping me awake. Followed by increasing anxiety, insomnia, inability to complete complex tasks, memory issue due to mental fog. Dr compensated - adding medications for the side effects. Three weeks ago, given a trial of branded Nuvigil - the difference is amazing. No anxiety, no insomnia, accomplishing more at work in a week - than I have in two months."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Shift Work Sleep Disorder "Taking Nuvigil about 8 years for hypersomnia and SWD. It has greatly improved my quality of life. I was experiencing the insomnia that could result from this medicine, but once I found out the best time in my schedule to take it, insomnia is rarely an issue. I am grateful my doctor talked me into taking this medication so long ago."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I am 38 and I have been taking this medicine two weeks and I am having serious problem breathing and getting a deep breath in, my inhaler does not help. I have diarrhea and my face has broken out worse than it ever did when I was a teenager. I have also had random pounding, sharp, shooting headaches come out of no where."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I have been taking nuvigil since 2012 started on provigil built a tolerance against it in 2 months. I take 250 mg a day but I split the pill and take each half at specific times usually between 6-9 am the other at 3pm to 6pm (depends when I took the first one) seems to help me stay awake a little more that way. It lasts for about 1-2 hours on me with each half."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed a year ago. I have cataplexy as well. I've been taking 250mg daily of Nuvigil for about 8 months and I'm very happy with it. The only complaint is that (as another person said) it doesn't last all day, I also crash out in the afternoon. If you have this problem I suggest eliminating idol time. I have noticed that if I keep myself busy I have no problem going through the day normally. I haven't experienced any side effects whatsoever. Most of the other medications may keep you awake all day, but seeing as the side effects can be devastating for many people, I'll take the extra effort to keep my idol time to a minimum and unlike the other medicines I've tried, I don't feel like I need a higher dose every 3 months."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have had HIV/AIDS for over 30 years. Needless to say that chronic fatigue has always been one of my biggest obstacles. I found this drug through an interview done by Diane Sawyer a few years back (referred to as its original name Provigil). I started Nuvigil/Armodafinil 200 mg soon after. My world went from black & white to living color. I was even able to have a late afternoon lie down for 30 minutes to an hour and wake up feeling great again. No feelings of speediness or anxiety. At first I started with the Armodafinil 200 mg but then went down to 150 mg because I did notice a slight tendency to a bit more aggressive later in the day or early evening after a few months use. After going down to 150mg it evened out and felt great."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "Prescribed to help with feeling exhausted due to suspected sleep apnea. Having a sleep test later this month. In the meantime, Doctor felt Nuvigil may be of benefit. The drug had me bouncing off the walls for the first couple of days but I did feel better - alert and with more energy than I'd had in quite some time. I was very pleased but then, disappointingly after day four of being in the drug, I began to experience difficulty swallowing and my lips became numb. My throat then began to close and I was having difficulty breathing. My wife rushed me to the emergency room where I eventually passed out. I was pumped full of Benedryl and Prednizone until my breathing began to return to normal. I felt the drug was working until the reaction."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Depression "Started at 150 mg, took half a day and felt like a new person - it changed my life. Quickly found I need to take the full tablet to get the same effect. Three months ago doctor increased to 250 mg, take full tablet but the effect only lasts 3-4 hours. Your body becomes immune and needs more and more. And now I "crash" early afternoon and become very depressed. Took appetite away, lost 20 lbs in little over a year."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I've been on Nuvigil for 4 years and it's stopped being as effective. I'm currently on 125 mg twice a day, and 37.5 mg Adipex twice a day. The Adipex has absolutely helped my weight (down 14 lbs in 15 days, 40lbs to go) but not much help with the wakefulness. I'm falling asleep in the afternoon and driving is a nightmare. It takes A LOT for insurance to cover. Without all the hoops my doctor has agreed to jump through, it would be $685 per month."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy "I have taken 250mg daily of Nuvigil for two years now. Without/before it I couldn't think straight, I dropped stuff, couldn't perform the simplest daily functions. Nuvigil has given me my life back! I couldn't drive for a year, I can now. My narcolepsy is pretty bad and if I miss one day of the Nuvigil I can't function. By the afternoon I can't stay awake or hold on to anything. The other medicine I was on didn't even compare to Nuvigil!"

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have used a C-PAP for about 4 years. Before that I was on 2 liters of oxygen at night for 6 years. I always had some daytime sleepiness, but handled it with caffiene and more recently energy drinks. The sleepiness was getting worse and I was having microsleeps during the day. Lossing consciousnesses at work for a few seconds, waking and not knowing whether it was 3 seconds or 10 minutes. My sleep was good with C-Pap, I thought and the doctor read the chip from it and it said it was good too. I was prescribed 150mg Nuvigil. It was as if half of my circuit breakers were off and someone flipped them all back on. Startling to say the least. The first 2 days I had a low grade headache. Had to cut way back on coffee. Miracle!"

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness "I have used Provigil for about 6 years for daytime sleepiness/fatigue. About 2 weeks ago I began taking Nuvigil instead. The effect is definitely longer-lasting by several hours, and initially it seemed more potent yet "cleaner" in terms of side effects than Provigil. However, more recently when I've taken it after a night of poor sleep I've had to increase the dose and I get a lot of tension headaches, as with Provigil. 150 mg lasted all day at first, now I've had to take a little more. Still, I'd rate it an improvement over Provigil - how much so, time will tell."

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Fibromyalgia "I took this to help with the endless, debilitating fatigue I have from fibromyalgia. It didn't relieve my physical or mental fatigue at all but it did keep me awake until three in the morning (I took it about 11 am). I felt jittery and feverish (no actual fever, though). It kept me going all day but I still had the heavy, uncomfortable feelings of physical and mental fatigue. "
