Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "Was put on this for an ear and sinus infection. By my second day I was having bad stomach cramps, excessive bowel movements, some diarrhea, nausea, body aches, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, nerve tingling in legs and feet, Constant headache, also I began spotting on my second day and it was one week before my period was due, this never happens, I spotted until my period started. I have three more days left and I feel worse than I did before I started it. My ear isn’t completely better yet either, my sinuses have cleared up some but not all the way. I called my dr and he said he is hesitant to change my script as my infection was/is so bad, asked that I just push through side effects. Never again!"

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "I’ve taken this antibiotic many times for my sinus infections: however/ the last few times on this antibiotic I’ve reacted horribly. Not sure why I didn’t in the past. This antibiotic caused weakness and joint pain. My legs and arms are so sore, head fog, and pain in my head. It made me feel like I’m on another planet. Never will I ever take augmentin again."

"The doctor was hesitant to prescibe an antibiotic, since Kaiser is against them unless you are knocking on deaths door. But after suffering pounding headaches for a month, terrible mucous in the back of my throat and finally shortness of breath, the doctor agreed to prescribe Augmentin for sinusitis. I had an earache, constant violent sneezing, exhaustion and head congestion that was only continuing to worsen. After TWO pills, I felt lIke I'd been reborn. I did wake up at 2 am with the worst heartburn of my life, though, and chewed at least 15 Tums, took 2 Pepcid Ac with milk, and still my guts were on fire. Take this medication with food, and probiotics at intervals."

"The first day I took this drug I was okay. Then the 2nd day I just had a pounding headache. Now I’m on the 3rd day and I still have a headache and severe upset stomach / nausea. I still have 7 more days left :("

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "Went to the ER two times with what later I learned was a severe sinus infection. My Dr gave me Augmentin and although much better after a week it isn’t gone. I took it with yogurt and probiotics because the first couple days I had cramping and diarrhea. That helped tremendously"

"Sinus infections have controlled my life for about 3 years. After trying many antibiotics, a specialist had me try this antibiotic. I have used it 4 times and it has always worked while also taking prednisone. Using steam as a decongestant has also been a big help. If you have a sinus infection, I highly recommend this drug. From reading the other reviews I am fortunate to not have any side effects. So use with caution the first time."

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "I took Augmentin for Sinusitis and have been taking since 8 days that makes it 16 tablets and I still haven't noticed any side effect due to it. No diarrhea, no headache and no any other side effects that are usually described. In 8 days, my pain is reduced to 70% as I now need only 1 pain killer tablet through out a day (before this, I was taking thrice a day). I'm also taking steam and using Saline Nasal drops."

"On day 4 with no relief. I have had sinusitis now for 4 weeks. I first got prescribed Amoxicillin 800 which seemed to knock out the infection after just a few days on it. No side effects with amoxicillin. 5 days after completing my antibiotics the symptoms quickly came back but worse this time. Now on this antibiotic - severe head aches which linger all day, severe nausea, loss of appetite which has led me to not eat as much and lost 4 pounds in 2 days. Extremely sleepy all through out the day. Almost wish I never tried this antibiotic!"

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "I started with infection in my sinus that was mild. Then I got a bad nosebleed that was unrelated to the infection. I had to get one complete side of my nose packed all the way to the sinus cavity (uncomfortable). The doctor gave me Augmentin 875-125 for 2 weeks so no further infection ensued. Almost done with it now and it worked extremely well for the infection. Like some have said, make sure that you have a restroom close by. It will make your gas pretty much unbearably crude."

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "Sinuses started clearing after about two days but my tongue began to swell a little. I also had tongue soreness and developed ulcers on my tongue as well. Chest tightness also occurred. I will never take this drug again as this is the second time I've had a bad experience with it."

"This medicine made me horribly sick. I get sinus infection 1-2x per year and typically am prescribed azythromicin (z-pack) which works great. This time a new NP prescribed me 875mg augmenting 2x/day. I've never really had trouble with antibiotics so I obliged and started taking it. I was 4 doses in, and started getting diarreah and it continued into the next day so I took some Imodium. I should also mention that my voice got extremely hoarse after starting the medicine too. The Imodium seemed to help a little but I had a mild underlying continuous stomach ache that didn't go away. By the 3rd day I had headache fever bloating and diarreah. I stopped taking it 4th day. Two days later I am still sick with stomach pain. This is the devil!"

"I went to a CVS walk-in clinic and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Was prescribed amoxicillin/clav for 10-days. After 2nd day I started feeling better, but on the 9th day I developed a severe allergic reaction. Horrendous rash that spread all over my body. Terrible itching/burning. Wound up on prednisone and other drugs for 2 weeks to counteract the reaction to the antibiotic. Had no idea I was allergic so could not advise person at CVS, but it has been three weeks of hell."

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "This medicine has been horrible for me. Ever since I started taking it even with food it’s felt as if I have a stomach virus. Next time the doctor prescribes this I’m telling them I’m allergic because I’d rather have the damn sinus infection then this rubbish!"

"I take amox-clav twice a day for an ear infection and sinusitis. I am on day 3 and so far, I have stopped coughing up green chunky mucous, yay! The mucous alone caused me to not desire food therefore I have lost weight (before starting amox-clav). I know to take probiotics with penicillin so I do not foresee a yeast infection as some have reported. I have experienced stomach grumbling and groans but no diarrhea yet (plus, I haven't eaten in days so I don't have anything in my stomach to get out). Amox-Clav is doing it's job. I'm not going to be a drama queen/crybaby about the side effects because this IS penicillin..not baby aspirin we're taking..just saying."

"After 4 days of using this drug I feel 90% better. I am combining this with morning Neti pot for relief, and tea and bed rest! And Vick’s vapor rub at night on my sinuses and chest, it is still really nice! Really, this sinus infection has been with with me for awhile and I was too stubborn to go to the doctor! Please don’t do that stubborn thing! I had clogged ears for months and difficulty hearing. I even had a severe sinus attack on an airplane flying overseas. In hindsight it’s ridiculous not to get meds when needed! This is helping me tremendously. I do not have any side effects. I am taking 1 tablet every 12 hours of 875-125 mg . Yes, highly recommend."

"I have had a bad ear infection and sinus problem for 6 months. Sneezing attacks. Went to my Dr and he prescribed me this medicine, I've been on it 3 days and already I feel relief, no sneezing, I can actually breath through my nose again, ear seems to be less drainage. Only downfall is I am nauseous. So I eat something and take zofran/ generic. It helps for a few hours but I have to take it and eat continually so I don't vomit. I weigh the odds " stay sick" or " tough it out" at least a week to ten days and get well."

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "I developed sinus infection yearly (allergies?) and augment is my go to medicine. Takes three days at twice a day dosing to see results. I’m 71 and have had only antibiotics maybe ten times in life. First Times was PenVK that was great medicine, but doctors don’t want prescribe it now days."

"Have had sinusitis and severe headaches full on for a year. Tried every home remedy available. Finally saw an ENT in March who prescribed Amoxicillin-Clav. I tried for 3 days and the side effects are horrifying. I followed the directions and ate before I took it. Doesn't matter, gas, bloating and nauseous for 3 whole days. Back to home remedies for a while but I am still sick. So I am giving this Amox-Clav another try. I have been throwing up for 3 days. This drug must be very hard on your stomach and liver and would definitely not recommend this if you have to work or have kids to care for."

"This stuff is supposed to clear up my sinus infection. It may have done that, but it also made me have severe headaches, body-aches, weakness and confusion. I felt like I was trapped in a cloud-like bubble. I'm on day 4 and I feel like quitting it is making me feel so miserable. I can't get my body temperature right. I'm either too hot or too cold. I feel tired all the time. What is happening to me? I'm glad, not really, but happy to know that I'm not the only one this has happened to. This medicine should not be prescribed anymore. I'm on the 825mg. Way too strong."

Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "I've had sinus problems for so many years - blocked sinus, headaches, temple pressures, allergic episodes. I couldn't breathe also had sore throat. So I decided to take action for once and got prescribed for a 7 day trial of augmentin, plus 24 hour claritin and nasal spray 2 times of each nostril every 3 hours as needed. The first days where hell because of my bodies reaction to this antibiotic. Since I believe it was due to me never using any antibiotics ever.I got chills, high fevers of 102-104. weakness. bed ridden fatigue. headache. it was horrible (although this could have been symptoms of infection) I started to take Tylenol to control the fever, it was god send (Acetaminophen 500mg). I took 2 tablets every 6 hours which did the trick. But the fevers ended day 4. after everything got better after."

"It seems to help but I had a side effect that was unexpected and before I say this I am being totally for real about it. I had normal side effect of nausea but then a strange one. I became aroused and turned on very easily. This is not a normal thing for me either. Not that I am complaining just think its weird. Anyone else have this happen???"

Augmentin XR (amoxicillin / clavulanate) "Have frequent sinus infections & have been prescribed Augmentin XR whenever I have a severe sinus infection for about the past 17 years now. It always has done the job & taken care of the infection. The only downside is the GI side effects (i.e. stomach cramps, diarrhea, etc)."

"Hi, I used to get a terrible reaction when I took Augmentin for sinus infections. I projectile vomited within 5 min. of ingestion. Then, I had a really severe sinus infection that I battled for 4 months. I was prescribed everything under the sun except Augmentin for obvious reasons. Finally, I went to a specialist who told me that I needed to take the Augmentin and to take it with probiotic yogurt - live cultures, etc. I've never had a problem since taking Augmentin with Activia yogurt. I've had no side effects at all."

"Last Saturday (Jan 30, 2017), I started taking this medicine. First dose was at 12p.m. and then at 8p.m. By Sunday morning, I was feeling nauseous. I took my three doses that day, because the sick feeling was just on-off so I attributed the sickness to one of the meals. By 10p.m. Sunday, I was so nauseous I went to sleep. It was the worst night ever. I threw up so much and so many times, it felt like even my soul almost went down the toilet. Next day (Monday 1/1/18), I was convinced it was the medicine so I didn't take it. I was nauseous all day, sipping on water hoping it wouldn't come up. By Tuesday morning I felt better and was able to start eating again. I will never in my life take this medicine again."
