MIXING AND FEEDING DIRECTIONS:
See the following table for mixing and feeding directions. Mix the dry powder into water as directed (warm water not to exceed 110°F) and stir until completely dissolved. The enclosed measuring scoop holds approximately 1 dry ounce (28.35 g) of electrolytes powder by weight. For best results, offer electrolytes solution in between milk feedings, to provide supplemental fluids and electrolytes.
IMPORTANT: Dehydration in young animals can be very serious. If scours worsen or do not improve, or if the animal appears dehydrated, contact your veterinarian.
CALF |
Mix 4 enclosed scoops (4 oz) of electrolytes powder into 2 quarts of warm water. Offer 1 to 2 quarts of Electrolytes solution 1 to 3 times daily, in between normal milk feedings. |
FOALS |
Mix 1 enclosed scoop (1 oz) of electrolytes powder into 1 pint (16 fluid oz) of warm water. Offer 4 fluid oz (1/2 cup) of electrolytes solution for each 6 pounds of body weight, 2 to 3 times daily. |
LAMBS, GOAT KIDS, FAWNS OR CRIAS |
Mix 1 enclosed scoop (1 oz) of electrolytes powder into 1 pint (16 fluid oz) of warm water. Offer 4 fluid oz (1/2 cup) of electrolytes solution for each 6 pounds of body weight, 2 to 3 times daily. |
PIGLETS |
Mix 4 enclosed scoops (4 oz) of electrolytes powder into 2 quarts of warm water. Offer electrolytes solution free choice during hot weather or other stress. Offer plain water at all times in a separate feeder. |
ADULT LIVESTOCK |
Mix 2 enclosed scoops (2 oz) of electrolytes powder into 1 gallon of cool water. Offer electrolytes solution free choice during hot weather or other stress. Provide as the only source of drinking water for 1 hour, 2 to 3 times daily. |
ANIMAL MANAGEMENT TIPS:
1. Electrolytes should be used during exposure to or illness (scours and pneumonia) and/or during times of stress (including but not limited to: handling and transporting, hot or cold weather, co-mingling, weaning or other stressors).
2. Cleanliness is very important - keep animal pens clean and well bedded, and scrub and sanitize feeding equipment after each use. Wash hands and clothing after handling sick animals.
3. Offer fresh, clean water at all times.
4. Young animals may have increased nutrition requirements during very cold or hot weather. Consult with your veterinarian for guidance.
Storage
Store dry electrolytes in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place. Best if used within 24 months of manufacture. Shelf life can be extended by freezing the dry powder in a tightly sealed container. Do not store mixed electrolytes solution-discard unconsumed solution after 12 hours.
