Difficulty Passing Urine
Contact your doctor if your symptoms don't improve within 24 to 48 hours. Even without fever, chills, pain or blood in the urine, you may have a serious problem that is causing your difficulty passing urine. Possible causes of your symptoms include:
enlargement of the prostate gland
infection or inflammation of the prostate gland (chronic prostatitis)
other types of urinary tract infections
a kidney stone, or other types of kidney problems
a narrowing of the urine tube (also known as a stricture of the urethra).
