Difficulty Passing Urine

Contact your doctor if your symptoms don't improve within 24 to 48 hours. Even without fever, chills, pain or blood in the urine, you may have a serious problem that is causing your difficulty passing urine. Possible causes of your symptoms include:

  • enlargement of the prostate gland

  • infection or inflammation of the prostate gland (chronic prostatitis)

  • other types of¬†urinary tract infections

  • a¬†kidney stone, or other types of kidney problems

  • a narrowing of the urine tube (also known as a stricture of the urethra).
