Along with its needed effects, beta-carotene (the active ingredient contained in Solatene) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Some side effects of beta-carotene may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. - Yellowing of palms, hands, or soles of feet, and to a lesser extent the face (this may be a sign that your dose of beta-carotene as a nutritional supplement is too high)
- joint pain
- unusual bleeding or bruising
