Dienestrol topical Pregnancy Warnings

Dienestrol has been assigned to FDA pregnancy category X. Estrogens are contraindicated for use during pregnancy. Estrogenic agents have been associated with urogenital abnormalities in offspring that manifest later in life. Vaginal adenosis, squamous cell dysplasia of the uterine cervix and vaginal cancer have developed later in life in female offspring. In the male offspring, the risks of urogenital abnormalities and testicular cancer later in life are increased.

There are no data on the excretion of dienestrol into human milk. Other estrogens are distributed into breast milk. Estrogens administered to nursing women have been shown to decrease the quantity and quality of breast milk.
