Benzocaine / trimethobenzamide Pregnancy Warnings

Benzocaine-trimethobenzamide has not been formally assigned to a pregnancy category by the FDA. Although animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of teratogenicity, an increased rated of stillbirths was observed. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Benzocaine-trimethobenzamide is only recommended for use during pregnancy when there are no alternatives and benefit outweighs risk.

There are no data on the excretion of benzocaine-trimethobenzamide into human milk. The effects in the nursing infant are unknown.
