Abarelix Pregnancy Warnings
Abarelix has been assigned to pregnancy category X by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of embryolethality and fetal resorptions, as well as the a significant decrease in mating and fertility. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Abarelix is considered contraindicated during pregnancy.
The significant decrease in mating and fertility in animal studies was reversible.
Abarelix Breastfeeding Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of abarelix into human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk and because the effects of abarelix on lactation and/or the breast-fed child have not been determined, abarelix should not be used by nursing mothers.
