Applies to: First Aid Antiseptic (benzalkonium chloride / lidocaine topical), Supartz FX (sodium hyaluronate)

GENERALLY AVOID: Disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts should not be used for skin preparation before injections of viscoelastic solutions. Hyaluronic acid will precipitate in the presence of these salts.

MANAGEMENT: Povidone iodine (Betadine), other iodinated skin disinfectants, or alcohol skin preparations are safe for use and are recommended by the manufacturers.
