Interactions between your drugs
ribavirin influenza virus vaccine, H1N1, live
Applies to: Rebetol (ribavirin), influenza virus vaccine, h1n1, live
Antiviral flu medications like ribavirin may interfere with the immune response to influenza virus vaccine, H1N1, live. Individuals who have been treated with antiviral flu medications should generally not be vaccinated with influenza virus vaccine, H1N1, live until 24 to 48 hours after stopping treatment. The immunizing doctor should be informed of recent therapy with ribavirin so that appropriate measures and/or precautions can be taken. Similarly, individuals who have been vaccinated with influenza virus vaccine, H1N1, live must generally wait two weeks before using antiviral flu medications unless otherwise directed by their doctor. If vaccination was given shortly before or during treatment with an antiviral flu medication, a revaccination may be necessary at some point. It is important to tell the doctor about all other medications being used, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to the doctor.
