This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Prevacid NapraPAC 500 (lansoprazole/naproxen)
- Telzir (fosamprenavir)
Interactions between your drugs
naproxen lansoprazole
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC 500 (lansoprazole / naproxen) and Prevacid NapraPAC 500 (lansoprazole / naproxen)
Talk to your doctor before using naproxen together with lansoprazole. Using these medications together may affect the enteric coating of naproxen, causing the medication to be released too early in the body. This can make naproxen less effective. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
lansoprazole fosamprenavir
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC 500 (lansoprazole / naproxen) and Telzir (fosamprenavir)
Talk to your doctor before using fosamprenavir together with lansoprazole. By reducing stomach acid, lansoprazole can decrease the absorption and blood levels of fosamprenavir and make the medication less effective against HIV. Your doctor or pharmacist may be able to offer suggestions on safer alternatives if you require treatment for stomach acid or ulcer while you are being treated with fosamprenavir. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
fosamprenavir food
Applies to: Telzir (fosamprenavir)
Fosamprenavir suspension should be administered on an empty stomach in adults, but with food in pediatric patients to help the taste and compliance. If vomiting occurs within 30 minutes after dosing the suspension, the dose should be repeated. Fosamprenavir tablets may be taken with or without food. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
naproxen food
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC 500 (lansoprazole / naproxen)
Ask your doctor before using naproxen together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking naproxen. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by naproxen. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
