Drug Interactions between Mudrane and Pulmicort Turbuhaler
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Mudrane (aminophylline/ephedrine/phenobarbital/potassium iodide)
- Pulmicort Turbuhaler (budesonide)
Interactions between your drugs
PHENobarbital aminophylline
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide) and Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide)
Using PHENobarbital together with aminophylline may decrease the effects of aminophylline. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or if you experience breathing difficulties. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
PHENobarbital budesonide
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide) and Pulmicort Turbuhaler (budesonide)
The following interaction applies to orally and rectally administered formulations of budesonide that are typically used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. It does not apply to budesonide that is administered via oral inhalation (for the treatment of asthma or COPD) or other routes. -- PHENobarbital may reduce the levels of budesonide in your intestine or bowel. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications, including PHENobarbital or budesonide, without first talking to your doctor.
aminophylline budesonide
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide) and Pulmicort Turbuhaler (budesonide)
Using aminophylline together with budesonide may cause hypokalemia (low blood potassium) and increased aminophylline levels. Contact your doctor if you experience weakness, listlessness, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs. Signs and symptoms of too much aminophylline include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, restlessness, insomnia, and irregular heartbeat. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
ePHEDrine aminophylline
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide) and Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide)
Information for this minor interaction is available on the professional version.
Drug and food interactions
PHENobarbital food
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide)
Ask your doctor before using PHENobarbital together with ethanol, this can add to dizziness, drowsiness and other side effects of PHENobarbital. Be careful if you drive or do activities that require you to be awake and alert. Talk with your doctor before using any medications together, or drinking alcohol with PHENobarbital. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
budesonide food
Applies to: Pulmicort Turbuhaler (budesonide)
You should avoid the regular consumption of large amounts of grapefruits and grapefruit juice while taking budesonide. Grapefruit can raise the levels of budesonide in your body and lead to increased side effects. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor.
ePHEDrine food
Applies to: Mudrane (aminophylline / ephedrine / phenobarbital / potassium iodide)
Consumer information for this interaction is not currently available.
MONITOR: Coadministration of two or more sympathomimetic agents may increase the risk of adverse effects such as nervousness, irritability, and increased heart rate. Central nervous system (CNS) stimulants, particularly amphetamines, can potentiate the adrenergic response to vasopressors and other sympathomimetic agents. Additive increases in blood pressure and heart rate may occur due to enhanced peripheral sympathetic activity.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if two or more sympathomimetic agents are coadministered. Pulse and blood pressure should be closely monitored.
