Drug Interactions between MST and tiludronate
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- MST (magnesium salicylate)
- tiludronate
Interactions between your drugs
magnesium salicylate tiludronate
Applies to: MST (magnesium salicylate) and tiludronate
Tiludronate and magnesium salicylate should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of tiludronate into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness. You should take magnesium salicylate at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after the tiludronate dose. Talk to a healthcare professional if you are not sure whether a product contains something that could potentially interact with your medication or if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
tiludronate food
Applies to: tiludronate
Food significantly decreases the levels of tiludronate. Tiludronate should be administered on an empty stomach with 6 to 8 ounces of plain water at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after food. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication.
magnesium salicylate food
Applies to: MST (magnesium salicylate)
Ask your doctor before using magnesium salicylate together with ethanol (alcohol). Do not drink alcohol while taking magnesium salicylate. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by magnesium salicylate. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
