Using nalidixic acid together with lactobacillus acidophilus may decrease the effects of lactobacillus acidophilus when these medications are taken at the same time. To prevent or minimize the interaction, lactobacillus acidophilus should be administered at least 1 to 2 hours before or after nalidixic acid. Contact your doctor if you have any concerns. Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of nalidixic acid into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness.
