Drug Interactions between gepirone and mifepristone
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- gepirone
- mifepristone
Interactions between your drugs
miFEPRIStone gepirone
Applies to: mifepristone and gepirone
Using gepirone together with miFEPRIStone is not recommended. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of gepirone. High blood levels of gepirone may result in changes in the electrical activity of your heart called QT prolongation, which can result in irregular heartbeats that can be life-threatening. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience an irregular heartbeat or feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint during treatment with gepirone. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
miFEPRIStone food
Applies to: mifepristone
Food increases the blood levels of this medication. If you are only receiving one or two doses, you may take it without regard to meals. However, if you are receiving the medication for long-term treatment, you should take it with food at the same time everyday to maintain consistent blood levels and effects. Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment, as it may increase blood levels of the medication to undesirable levels and increase the risk of side effects, including headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, cramping, diarrhea, hypokalemia (low blood potassium), fluid retention, swelling, and high blood pressure. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
gepirone food
Applies to: gepirone
Food helps with the absorption of gepirone into the blood stream. You should take this medication with food at about the same time every day. You should not consume grapefruit or grapefruit products while taking this medication as they can increase the blood levels of gepirone in your body, putting you at a higher risk of serious side effects like serotonin syndrome or a change in the electrical activity of your heart called QT prolongation. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following signs or symptoms of these potentially life-threatening side effects: irregular or fast heartbeat, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, agitation, confusion, sweating, flushing, changes in blood pressure, seizures, hallucinations, or a loss of coordination. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
