- fenfluramine
- Lonsurf (tipiracil/trifluridine)
Interactions between your drugs
fenfluramine tipiracil
Applies to: fenfluramine and Lonsurf (tipiracil / trifluridine)
Consumer information for this interaction is not currently available.
MONITOR: Coadministration with fenfluramine may increase the plasma concentrations of drugs that are substrates of the multidrug and toxin extrusion 1 (MATE-1) efflux transporter. Fenfluramine is an inhibitor of the MATE-1 efflux transporter in vitro. However, clinical data are not available.
MANAGEMENT: Until more information is available, caution is advised when fenfluramine is coadministered with drugs that are substrates of the multidrug and toxin extrusion 1 (MATE-1) efflux transporter, particularly those with a narrow therapeutic range. If coadministration is required, clinical and laboratory monitoring for drug-related toxicities should be considered and the dosage adjusted as necessary in accordance with the product labeling of the coadministered drug.
Drug and food interactions
fenfluramine food
Applies to: fenfluramine
Using fenfluramine with alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects such as increased heart rate, chest pain, or blood pressure changes. In addition, you may also be more likely to experience nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, depression, and difficulty concentrating. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with fenfluramine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of fenfluramine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.
trifluridine food
Applies to: Lonsurf (tipiracil / trifluridine)
Trifluridine should be taken within one hour after eating your morning or evening meals. This may help to reduce the medication's harmful effects on white blood cells. Talk to you doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
