Using lamiVUDine together with emtricitabine is generally not recommended. Combining these medications is not expected to substantially enhance activity against HIV. In fact, there is reason to believe that overall effectiveness may diminish due to possible antagonistic effects pertaining to how these medications are activated in the body. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact.
