Drug Interactions between cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate and levodopa
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- cyanocobalamin/folic acid/pyridoxine/strontium gluconate
- levodopa
Interactions between your drugs
levodopa pyridoxine
Applies to: levodopa and cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate
Ask your doctor before using levodopa together with pyridoxine. Pyridoxine may decrease the effects of levodopa resulting in less levodopa available for your body to use. You should be advised against taking pyridoxine-containing vitamin supplements. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
folic acid food
Applies to: cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate
Talk to your doctor before using alcohol together with folic acid. Excessive consumption of alcohol may reduce the absorption and increase the elimination of folic acid. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
levodopa food
Applies to: levodopa
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of levodopa such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with levodopa. You may experience reduced effectiveness of levodopa in the presence of foods or enteral (tube) feedings with a high protein content. This may make the symptoms of Parkinson's disease worse. Talk with your doctor or nutrition counselor about the best foods to eat while you are taking this medication. Contact your doctor if your condition changes.
strontium gluconate food
Applies to: cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate
Strontium gluconate should be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal and preferably at bedtime unless otherwise directed by your doctor. You may experience reduced absorption of strontium gluconate in the presence of food or milk. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication.
levodopa food
Applies to: levodopa
Levodopa and multivitamin with minerals should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain iron may interfere with the absorption of levodopa and reduce its effectiveness. You should separate the dosing of these medications by as much as possible. Contact your doctor if your Parkinson symptoms worsen. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
