Using amiodarone with sodium iodide I-131 is not recommended. Using amiodarone together with sodium iodide I-131 can alter the effects of sodium iodide I-131. Contact your doctor when to start and stop therapy with amiodarone so it does not interfere with sodium iodide I-131. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medicines without first talking to your doctor.

Amiodarone may be taken with or without food but should be taken at the same way each time. You should avoid consuming grapefruits and grapefruit juice while taking amiodarone. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor. Grapefruit can raise the levels of amiodarone in your body and lead to dangerous side effects. This can affect the rhythm of your heart. Call your doctor if you have symptoms of irregular heartbeat, chest tightness, blurred vision or nausea.
sodium iodide I-131 food

Iodine may interfere with the uptake of sodium iodide I-131 by the thyroid . A diet low in iodine and iodinated salt is recommended before starting therapy with sodium iodide I-131.

Multivitamin with minerals may affect the diagnostic results of sodium iodide I-131. Talk to your doctor before you are scheduled for testing to find out if and for how long you should stop using multivitamin with minerals so that it does not interfere with sodium iodide I-131 test results. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
