Interactions between your drugs
ceftibuten zinc sulfate
Applies to: ceftibuten and Zinc (zinc sulfate)
Ceftibuten and zinc sulfate should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain zinc may interfere with the absorption of ceftibuten into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness. You should take zinc sulfate at least three hours after taking ceftibuten. Talk to a healthcare professional if you are not sure whether a product contains something that could potentially interact with your medication or if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
ceftibuten food
Applies to: ceftibuten
The following interaction applies only if you are taking ceftibuten (brand name Cedax) in the liquid formulation:
Food may reduce the absorption of ceftibuten from the liquid (suspension) formulation, which may lead to lower blood levels of the medication and possibly reduced effectiveness. Therefore, it should be taken on an empty stomach at least two hours before or one hour after a meal. If you are taking the capsule formulation, you may take it with or without food. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
