Drug Interactions between boceprevir and Danziten
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- boceprevir
- Danziten (nilotinib)
Interactions between your drugs
nilotinib boceprevir
Applies to: Danziten (nilotinib) and boceprevir
Talk to your doctor before using nilotinib together with boceprevir. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels of nilotinib. This can make you more likely to develop side effects such as anemia, bleeding problems, infections, or an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious or life-threatening. You may not be able to take nilotinib during treatment with boceprevir, or you may need a dose adjustment and/or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience potential signs and symptoms of these conditions such as paleness, fatigue, dizziness, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, or other flu-like symptoms. You should also seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or fast or pounding heartbeats during treatment with nilotinib. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
nilotinib food
Applies to: Danziten (nilotinib)
Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with nilotinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels of nilotinib to dangerous levels, increasing the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with nilotinib. Food may also increase the blood levels of nilotinib. Therefore, you should take nilotinib on an empty stomach, meaning no food should be eaten for at least two hours before or one hour after taking nilotinib. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
boceprevir food
Applies to: boceprevir
Food significantly increases the absorption of boceprevir. You should take each dose of boceprevir with a meal or light snack. Taking it on an empty stomach may lead to inadequate blood levels and reduced effectiveness of the medication.
