foscarnet tobramycin

Applies to: foscarnet and Bethkis (tobramycin)

Using foscarnet together with tobramycin can cause serious side effects to your kidneys. Using these drugs together can also increase your risks of seizures and an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a relatively rare side effect. Call your doctor immediately if you experience nausea, swelling, sudden weight gain or weight loss, severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, seizures, pounding heart beats, dizziness or chest pain. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
