Drug Interactions between Belsomra and entrectinib
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Belsomra (suvorexant)
- entrectinib
Interactions between your drugs
suvorexant entrectinib
Applies to: Belsomra (suvorexant) and entrectinib
Suvorexant may increase the blood levels of entrectinib in some patients. This may increase the risk and/or severity of side effects such as dizziness; confusion; hallucinations; problems with concentration, attention, thinking, and memory; mood changes; insomnia; drowsiness; liver problems; increased uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia); congestive heart failure; fluid retention and swelling; changes in electrical activity of the heart (a condition known as QT prolongation, which may lead to irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening); vision problems; and low red or white blood cell counts. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
entrectinib food
Applies to: entrectinib
Do not consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or Seville oranges during treatment with entrectinib. Doing so can significantly increase the blood levels of entrectinib and increase the risk and/or severity of side effects such as dizziness; confusion; hallucinations; problems with concentration, attention, thinking, and memory; mood changes; insomnia; drowsiness; liver problems; increased uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia); congestive heart failure; fluid retention and swelling; changes in electrical activity of the heart (a condition known as QT prolongation, which may lead to irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening); vision problems; and low red or white blood cell counts. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
suvorexant food
Applies to: Belsomra (suvorexant)
Food can delay the absorption of suvorexant, which may increase the amount of time it takes for the medication to work. For faster sleep onset, do not take suvorexant with or soon after a meal. Suvorexant should also not be taken with grapefruit juice, as it may significantly increase the levels of medication in the blood. This can increase the risk of side effects including excessive drowsiness, motor impairment, amnesia, anxiety, hallucinations, and breathing difficulties (especially if you have a respiratory disorder such as asthma or obstructive sleep apnea). Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. You should avoid the use of alcohol while being treated with suvorexant. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you, and do not exceed the dosage or frequency of use prescribed by your doctor. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
