Drug Interactions between Adenocard and ceritinib
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Adenocard (adenosine)
- ceritinib
Interactions between your drugs
adenosine ceritinib
Applies to: Adenocard (adenosine) and ceritinib
Before getting treatment with adenosine, let your doctor know if you are currently using ceritinib. Combining these medications can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a relatively rare side effect. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
ceritinib food
Applies to: ceritinib
Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with ceritinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels of ceritinib to dangerous levels, increasing the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious. Other, more common side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) may also increase. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with ceritinib. Food may also increase the blood levels of ceritinib. Therefore, you should take ceritinib on an empty stomach, meaning no food should be eaten for at least two hours before or after taking ceritinib. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
adenosine food
Applies to: Adenocard (adenosine)
Adenosine is used for heart imaging in the hospital or clinic setting. Caffeine should be avoided for 12 to 24 hours before adenosine administration. Avoid drinks, foods, or diet pills that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, cola, and chocolate. Taking a stimulant together with adenosine can increase your risk of unpleasant side effects.

Ask your doctor before using adenosine together with caffeine. Using these medications together can decrease the effects of adenosine. It is recommended that caffeine including caffeine be avoided for 12 to 24 hours before adenosine administration. You may need a dose adjustment or special test if you use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
