Cholelithiasis is the presence of gallstones in the gallbladder. Gallstones are hard, pebble-like deposits that can vary in size from a grain of sand to a golf ball. Gallstones may cause no signs or symptoms. Sometimes gallstones can block or obstruct the bile duct or the cystic duct in the gallbladder. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, fever, yellowing of skin nausea and vomiting .
