For Lactose Intolerance "This worked once or twice. Four days ago I became ill after taking these pills, not knowing what my problem was. I was vomiting, diarrhea and was shaking. I had other symptoms but I ended up going for a covid test because I was so ill. Only 4 days passed and I took the pills again tonight, here I am typing this from the bathroom floor extremely nauseous and had just had diarrhea. DO NOT BUY THESE, IT IS NOT WORTH THE BATHROOM TIME AND HOW CRUBBISH THEY MAKE YOU FEEL."

For Lactose Intolerance "Two nights ago I indulged in some ice cream and decided it would be a good idea to take 2 Lactaid pills with it. Wrong! Yesterday I was sick as could be with multiple unpleasant bathroom visits, cramping, nausea, chills, etc. Apparently based on the other reviews here, I was one of the luckier ones. Now 48 hours later I’m finally feeling like myself again. I threw away the rest of the package. Do yourself a favor and avoid these."

For Lactose Intolerance "I have tried these pills twice. Once last week and I got violently ill vomiting for 5 hours straight and then diarrhea about 4 hours later. The vomiting was so bad that I couldn’t hardly breathe in between. I got cold chills and was sweating profusely. It was absolutely awful. I tried again last night not knowing what exactly caused the illness the first time. Same exact thing. No way will I ever take another one of these or suggest them to anyone."

For Lactose Intolerance "After not having many issues with any dairy other than ice cream, I decided to try lactaid in order to be able to enjoy the delicious treat of vanilla ice cream once more...but I regret everything now. Not only did it not do Jack squat, but my symptoms of lactose intolerance are even worse now. Usually I can get away with just a little bit of gas and I'm fine but now I have nausea, diarrhea, gas, and bloating. Worst decision ever!!! This product deserves negative stars!!!"

For Lactose Intolerance "It's very effective overall, one pill prevents symptoms from regular moderately lactose containing products, like cheese or yoghurt, but 2 pills are needed for regular milk or ice cream or even a cappuccino. It has honestly truly changed my life!!"

For Lactose Intolerance "My 10 yr old son would get stomach cramps and diarrhea every time he tried milk. We tried lactaid on two different occasions a few weeks apart and both times caused vomiting. Obviously something in the pills does not agree with him."

For Lactose Intolerance "If I could give this product 0 stars I would. I took this pill twice and felt that the product worked fine. A couple days later, and I was experiencing the worst abdominal pain and cramping I've ever had. It put me into the hospital. I'm on my 4th day of misery and I promise I will never take this again. I would rather experience what I usually do after eating dairy. It's not worth the risk of seeing if it works for you. It's going into the trash."

For Lactose Intolerance "Like many others have reported, I tried taking Lactaid only twice and became violently ill 4 hours afterward each time. I will not try it again. Like many things, it sounds like it works for some but not others. I suggest you plan ahead when trying it. The first time I took it with ice cream and thought it was a reaction to the ice cream or only taking two pills. I tried it again a week later before a meal containing small amounts of dairy and had the same result. I wish I had known this doesn’t work for everyone and may cause worse symptoms than lactose intolerance digestive upset alone."

For Lactose Intolerance "I lived in pain from most foods, until a new Gastroenterology doctor (Mayo Clinic) tested me for lactose intolerance. I proved to be VERY lactose intolerant. He recommended that I avoid milk, yogurt, and ice cream but try Lactaid with every meal, particularly canned foods and restaurant foods. Trace amounts of lactose can be present in canned products. When dining out, there are no guarantees of what is put in the food. Even foods that seem relatively safe, could contain lactose. Lactaid has worked GREAT! I no longer get sick after canned tuna fish or eating out. I continue to avoid milk and ice cream, but I can eat cheese within moderation. I hope the product works for those who need it. For me, it's been a lifeline to normalcy."

For Lactose Intolerance "I developed a lactose intolerance around the time I turned 25. I cut out all dairy products until a few months ago, I’m now 32, until a friend gave me Lactaid. If I’m eating a cheeseburger and I take one fast acting capsule I’m fine. If I’m eating ice cream, potato soup, chicken Alfredo.... I have taken two. I have taken two now three separate times and both times ended up with severe painful vomiting/diarrhea. Much worse than if I had just eaten the food without the Lactaid. I think it’s a great product if it works for you but I would rather not eat dairy than projectile vomit."

For Lactose Intolerance "I enjoy the Lactaid vanilla chewables before icecream and cheese (other than cheddar which I can eat no problem without it and Greek yogurt). I am not saying it's perfect but I don't get the constipation and bloating I usually experience without it. I take 1-2 tablets immediately before the first bite. No issues."

For Lactose Intolerance "This is my second time trying this pill. The first, was about ten years ago. Therefore, I brushed the side effects to the side and thought it was just me. This time, I took two pills and all I can say is that I will never try them again! Maybe it’s just me but I vomited, had diarrhea and my stomach hurt for hours. I prayed to the porcelain Queen like no other. All I wanted was a mini bar of ice cream but after feeling so bad, I’d rather deal with the side effects from having the ice cream."

For Lactose Intolerance "This made me so much sicker than the discomfort I experience from eating dairy. Twice now I've ended up with overwhelming nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I only figured it out because both of these happened after using lactaid. There's no warning on the box at all, but trust me it's horrible. It takes about 3 days to feel better."

For Lactose Intolerance "Worst experience of my life. When I turned 30 I started becoming lactose intolerant. When I was 37 I thought I would try Lactaid to try and see if I could eat dairy again without issue. I had severe stomach pain and vomiting. It was that screaming type of vomiting. The pain was so bad I had thought my gallbladder burst. I didn’t think it was the pills and though something was wrong with me. Things settled down the next day so after a week of no issues I figured it was a stomach bug so I popped a lactaid and had two slices of pizza. It was worse than the first time. The pain became so intense I was rushed to the hospital. I was gripping the bed rail from how severe the pain was. The had to give me a pain medication through an IV to get it to stop. Saw a doctor and I had multiple tests done to check my gallbladder. Nothing seemed wrong. Then I thought to look up the Lactaid. I was amazed how many people had severe reactions to this stuff. Stay away from it."

For Lactose Intolerance "I developed lactose intolerance as I got older. I have given up most dairy but on the occasions when I want cheese with my sandwich, I take 1-2 Lactaid pills before I eat. Most of the time Lactaid prevents the explosive diarrhea that dairy triggers. I haven't had any side effects. Without Lactaid, I wouldn't be able to eat dairy unless I was near a bathroom. My experience has been very positive."

For Lactose Intolerance "This is the second time I used Lactaid. OMG did I get Sick! Within one hour of taking it I was having diarrhea. Then came sever vomiting! Had no time to lift up my toilet seat! What a Freaken Mess! I was sooo thirsty but each time I drank water back to hugging the toilet I went! Had chills & low grade fever. I have no idea why this reacted the way it did but I will never take it again! PS. I finally discovered why I had gotten sick over my sisters house a month ago. Thought I had a 24 hour bug. But finding out today it was the Lactaid she gave me!"

For Lactose Intolerance "I decided to try Lactaid for my lactose intolerance. I took one dose, 3 caplets, with cheese cake; as directed. Within 1/2 hour I broke out in a rash/hives on my forearms; completely covering the tops/sides of them. That was 48 hours ago and the hives haven’t subsided. It looks like I have a raised severe itchy sunburn!"

For Lactose Intolerance "I agree with previous reviewers, this product Lactaid should be reported to the FDA. As I've gotten older I seem to have trouble digesting some cheeses. Last night, we had cheese omelettes. I decided to try a Lactaid chewable. Three hours later I felt so ill overall and then vomited for an hour. I had this same effect about 4 years ago when I tried Lactaid but stupidly decided to try it again. People need to be warned about this."

For Lactose Intolerance "I have been taking lactaid enzyme tablets for over 30 years made from different manufacturers. I get a lot of gas from milk products. The tablets have controlled the gas with no side effects. I only buy whole lactaid milk. I use the milk anytime where regular milk is used. Lactaid tablets or milk do not work for my brother. I have to take twice the normal directed dose for the pills to work for me. The price is high taking twice the dose therefore, 9/10 rating."

For Lactose Intolerance "My oldest daughter has experienced issues when having ice cream or dairy for a while. The problem is, she is her mother’s child; we like Dairy Queen and we can’t say no to a Blizzard. I gave her these pills about a month ago, and before we could even get in the door, she was running to the bathroom. I remember thinking that her issues were worse with the pills than usual, but my husband talked me out of that thought process. Fast forward to last night, and I decided to give her the full dose, because that could have been the issue last time; I only gave half a dose because I was just starting to use it. Full dose equals FULL misery. My poor baby, once again, could barely get in the door before having to run to the bathroom. Thank goodness I had Zofran, but she’s miserable. It’s been 24 hours, and her stomach is still hurting and she’s still in the bed. This stuff is AWFUL!!!!!! From now on, I think we will just go back to Tums and Famotadine 30 minutes before ice cream."

For Lactose Intolerance "I am mildly lactose intolerant and have used Lactaid brand milk for several months without issue. Suddenly, one day after ingesting this product, I became violently ill with extreme stomach pain and vomiting. This occurred almost immediately and lasted for nearly 10 hours. I was fairly certain that I was experiencing a reaction to the Lactaid product for a number of reasons. I think most people experiencing this level of pain would have rushed to the emergency room. Don't ingest things your body can't process, regardless of what they tell you."

For Lactose Intolerance "So far, Lactaid has been awesome. I've been using it for about a month. What my specialist diagnosed as GERD's disease for the last 2-3 years appears to be acid reflux caused by my aging body's inability to produce the lactase enzyme to break down milk and milk products (I didn't realize how many food products have milk in them). In summary, my body couldn't break down lactose, causing acid reflux, and my specialist put me on a prescription drug. The first drug was pulled off the market because it caused cancer. The second drug (Rabeprazole or something similar) is still being evaluated. Anyway, no more pain in the upper left part of my stomach, no more GERD or acid reflux. I'm having a tough time believing my specialist didn't tell me about Lactaid or a similar product for the 3 years of pain I went through. I hope this helps someone else with stomach/intestinal issues. It's a known fact that 65% of aging adults will lose the ability to break down lactose."

For Lactose Intolerance "Lactaid has worked well for me. I ate some cheese and my lactose intolerance kicked in severely. The next day I tried lactaid for the first time and ate the same cheese, and I experienced no stomach issues. Ever since then, I have used lactaid and it has worked very effectively. I have experienced no side effects."

For Lactose Intolerance "After discovering that all medications I was taking had lactose in them. Also finding out I was taking the wrong lactaid. I found that I must use the fast acting kind. My problems have all but disappeared. I can tolerate some sharp cheddar cheese. When eating out I take 2 fast acting at every meal because like it was said before, lactose can hide in a lot of places. I can have a lactose free meal at home and still have to take 2 lactaid because of warfarin I take that has lactose as a filler. My stomach is much better because of lactaid."
