If a patient is ordered an infusion of 12500 units from stock solution 1000u/s per ml and made up to 50ml with normal saline. Would it be 12.5 heparin to draw up and 37.5 saline??? How would I work out the rate of infusion if it is to be administered over 12hours??

I take Plavix, 2 antenlol and 2 baby aspirins a day and my blood platelet count has dropped to 98000. In July it was 119,000 and since it has continued to drop. So my question is can the combination of the 3 cause them to keep dropping

I have a power port because of slow veins. they had to put a port in. emergency rooms have trouble accessing to port, so they keep a needle in at all times. Changing it once weekly. They do use heparin when accessing the port. Is this to much heparin?
