Definition: Peripheral neuropathy is failure of the nerves that carry information to and from the brain and spinal cord. This produces symptoms like pain, loss of sensation, and inability to control muscles.
("Neuro" = nerves, "pathy" = abnormal; "peripheral" = nerves beyond the brain and spinal cord.)
