"I came here to post my experience over the years with Ambien and Ambien CR. They were bad for me. I had issues with memory, especially with my family having to remind me of what I said and did, even the morning after, really groggy, cloudy, fuzzy. Not good for raising kids. I was helped by sweetlemon on this website in her post here: I asked my doctor about Silenor and she gave me 3 milligram tablets. She had no samples but I figured I had already spent a fortune on Ambien so why not. Got 7 hours of sleep without a problem. I haven't felt this good in a very very long time. Thank you all on this website. I can sleep now!"

For Insomnia "I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. After 8 weeks of failing with Trazodone I decided to give Ambien a try. Took the immediate release version first, and while it did great helping me fall asleep, I'd wake up a couple hours later. Now I've been taking Ambien CR for a week and I get about 4-5 hours of sleep. Mostly 4 hours a night. It's not ideal but it's something. May look into Lunesta for its longer half life."

For Insomnia "Great drug. Never knew how important sleep was to the human body. Would only sleep 3 hours a night and thought that was normal. However since I have been on Ambien, I eat at night and do not remember it at all. My family tells me I am funny but do not remember talking to them. Never had dreams before, now they are vivid and real and colorful, this is a bit on the weird side."

For Insomnia "I've taken 12.5 mg Ambien CR on an off for 3 months now. Within the last two weeks, it's been more like every day. I was so groggy all day. Also, I'm not sure I slept... It was more like just being turned off rather than in a state of recuperative sleep. I cut the pill in half last night and had only 4 hours of sleep, where I awakened twice. I still feel more refreshed than ever, probably because this is the first time in weeks I don't have an ambien hangover. It's a great medicine, but I'd like to ween myself off of it. I suspect it's either causing depression, or is amplifying a depression I didn't know I had."

For Insomnia "First time I went on Ambien CR, I was disoriented and felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. I was on it for 5 days. I decided after trying several other medicines that I would try it again. Now, I get 8 hrs asleep and I feel better now that I am getting to sleep. Still am a little tired throughout the day but I don't feel insane from lack of sleep. Definetly hooked on it because when I miss I know."

For Insomnia "This pill is not working. I have a pink generic version. I took one 6.25 3 hours after I had dinner nothing made me sleepy, but I was wide awake 2 hours latter. The next night I took 2. Didn’t work either. Anyone else??"

For Insomnia "I had been contemplating taking a sleep aide for some time now but after my engagement fell apart I really need it more than ever. I have been on Ambien for 3 weeks now and although I think it helps I took mine 2 hours ago and I'm still here. Once I do fall asleep it is a very sound and restful sleep but I still lay in bed tossing and turning, thinking of what could have and should have been."

For Insomnia "I took Ambien CR for a year and at first it worked pretty good except for a minor side effect that left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't let that bother me as long as I was getting my 8 hours sleep. After a year it stopped working so I tried to double my dose. Big mistake, I had to stop using it because I started sleep walking and having conversation with others without remembering anything. Ambien works but be cautious of side effects."

For Insomnia "I used to be on trazadone, Ambien, and Ambien CR. I enjoyed both Ambiens because I did get a lot of the sleep that I have missed out, but I did feel groggy when I woke up and still tired. When Ambien CR started to not work as well, I would ride a bike and end up in someone else's lawn. My body got so used to all of them that they now after 1 year of not taking them, still treats my body as if I am "high". Everyone's experience is different."

For Insomnia "Ambien CR is on my DO NOT PRESCRIBE list. It has caused me to do random things that I had no recollection of doing. The first night I took 10 mg as per my doctor's prescription. I woke up the next morning to find I had eaten all the desserts I had bought the day before - half a gallon of ice cream, a blueberry pie, and a bag of teriyaki-flavored rice cakes and didn't remember eating them. I kept taking it and a week later I had a delivery of an expensive full-length black velvet evening gown. I contacted the company and reported that it had been sent to me in error. The customer service rep told me someone in my household must have ordered it for me as a gift. I said, "My service dog is highly intelligent and trained as a scent dog. She could have scented out my credit card, but it is most improbable that she would have been unable to use my phone." She checked their records and the order was placed at 2:33 a.m. I had no recollection of doing this. This medication is scary."

For Insomnia "I'm on the brand name and I've been on zolpidem for 2 and a half years it helps with my TBI honestly healed it and sleep in autism spectrum as well this is a !Oracle medication !!! Lifesaver they need to prescribe it people that actually need it ! Anyway are A+ ,(:"

For Insomnia "I successfully took Ambien not every night. And it was great. However, Ambien CR has caused vivid dreams, memory loss, sleep driving. I stopped using CR when I had a sleep driving event and no memory of the event. Will have to battle my sleep problem without it."

For Insomnia "This is my second night of taking Ambien CR 10 Mg. Last night, I fell asleep and woke up with the pictures hanging on the wall on top of me. I'm not sure what happened there, but hopefully everything will be better! I have my fingers crossed!"

For Insomnia "I would fall asleep but wake up a few hours later. I don't know how anyone can fall asleep while taking this medicine but everyone responds differently. Tylenol PM makes me feel a lot more sleepy than this medicine."

For Insomnia "I have take CR for over 10 years. It is generic and there are many. However, the blue 12.5mg worked great while taking vraylar and trintellix, bipolar meds which I am not, but they seemed to work on my depression. Until I was diagnosed with addiction. We stopped the vrylar and trintellix, switched to wellbutrin xl 2 100mg tabs in the morning. Amazing miracle drug for addiction. HOWEVER, THE AMBIEN CR GIVES ME ONLY 4 HOURS OF SLEEP. That sucks. Any suggestions PLEASE HELP"

For Insomnia "I was diagnosed with RLS, which lead to severe insomnia. I tried several other medications before my doctor prescribed me ambien. While the other medications made it easier to sleep, the ambien actually stopped the rls, while also as a side effect helped me get to sleep. Ambien has changed my life in such a positive manner. It is generally not prescribed long term, but I have been a daily user for 4 years now. When I have stopped for various reasons, my RLS comes right back. For me, it's been a miracle."

For Insomnia "This medication doesn’t live up to expectations. I’ve tried nearly every option and found them to be ineffective. This med is also ineffective. I’ve had no change in length or quality of sleep regardless of taking it on an empty stomach. I’m quite disappointed. I will note that the first time I took it, my boyfriend was a little freaked out after finding me sleepwalking."

For Insomnia "Ambien is like a little piece of heaven in a pill. I have been on 12.5 Cr since 2009. Before this I tried all the others. Ambien is the only drug that helps me fall asleep. I recommend this drug."

For Insomnia "Just tried the Ambien CR last night. Still took awhile to fall asleep but once I did it worked great. Slept till 8:30. Unusual for me. Love it!"

For Insomnia "Very consistent seven hours of sleep. However, If I don't go right to bed I may do things I don't remember like leaving a bunch of lights and the TV on. Had to discontinue due to high cost."
