"I suffer from severe cluster headaches/migraines and I was prescribed Verapamil after two triptans we’re unsuccessful. Unfortunately, Verapamil just didn’t do anything. Luckily, it didn’t cause any negative side effects, it just failed to make any kind of difference. Verapamil might as well have been a tic-tac for me."

"I had regular clusters every August throughout my 20s and 30s. They went away when I had sinus surgery at age 40. Then they restarted in early May this year, at the age of 63. Verapamil 240 milligram has been completely effective in stopping them. (Unfortunately, they may have turned chronic -- whenever I experimentally quit the Verapamil, they resume.) I have one major side-effect: a daily two- or three-hour bout of diarrhea. Imodium and similar meds leave me with a painful case of constipation followed by...diarrhea. I have adopted a low-mass, low-irritant diet, and this mitigates it somewhat, but it does not solve it. My doc has directed me to try a lower dose (120 mg.) in the hope that this will mitigate this side effect."

"Second drug I tried in accessing treatment due to bad side effects with the first but works amazingly. I’m awful at remembering to take it daily however when I do it removes all pain with no side effects"

"2 x 120 mg of verapamil has helped me control chronic CH over the last 4 years. For 14 years before that, my CH was misdiagnosed as sinusitis and needed up to 10 g/day of aspirin for periodic CH. I still do get some light symptoms now and then, but only a few times every year need to take zolmitriptan tablets. Perhaps my dose should be increased, but at age 70 now, I prefer to keep it as low as possible."

"Great for cluster headaches. Haven't had a severe cluster headache since I was diagnosed correctly (cluster headache sufferers know the story) and started taking it. I take the 240 mg ER version."
