"Wow. I have felt horrible for the past week. Just unwell feeling, anxiety, tiredness even after restful sleep, diarrhea, shakiness, brain zapped, no appetite. I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out but then I remembered I started taking omeprozole for my indigestion issues about 10 days ago. Looked on here and it seems every commenter has my same exact issues. Yep, it’s decided and I’m not taking this horrible medication anymore. Too steep of a price to pay for acid reflux relief. Rather just take Pepcid. Gah I hope I feel better soon. This feeling is truly horrid."

"Helped my acid reflux, I was taking medium and Jan, 2016 my insurance no longer covered, My doctor put me on omeprazole 40 mg 1aday, Did good for a couple of weeks. Then I started waking up at night with heart palpitations and skipped beat's. I didn't know why, Then the only thing I changed was talking the omeprazole, so I stopped taking it to see if that was causing my palpitations, Sure enough in about a week with out taking the omeprazole, my palpitations and skipped Heart Beat's went away. Now my acid reflux is back. Now I have to do something better."

"I was on this medicine for 3 weeks, ever since I missed my period, fatigue, depression, diarrhea, headaches, cough, extreme abdominal pain (feels like a constant dull food poisoning feeling) and definitely mood changes. I was diagnosed with Silent Acid reflux GERD. I’m really hoping there is another medicine I can take or a home remedy I can try. Side effects from this medicine are not fun to deal with."

"I’ve only been taking Omeprazole for 1 week. I noticed I started to have headaches, dizziness & sick feeling. I immediately stopped taking it. I already have anxiety attacks so to add those symptoms didn’t make it any better. The heartburn I was feeling did go away..but I just can’t deal with the dizziness etc. I rather treat naturally."

"Do not take this or any other PPI! I’m dead serious when I say this, either Doctors bury their head in the sand or they know and just don’t care what this does to some people. How in the heck does a PPI that is supposed to control stomach acid affect your head and heart? I’ve had all of these same symptoms of everyone else on here. Headaches out of no where, uneasiness feeling when laying down, feeling like weight on my chest at night, when I’m about to fall asleep something in my body shocks and I gasp for air, just craziness. I tried PAN for 30 days and a week after it must have cause bad bacteria in my stomach because for 1.5 weeks I was bloated everyday and burped non stop… for the first time in my life. That happened on and off for 2 months but the Dr wanted me to try it again to get rid of chronic gastritis once and for all. 4 days in all the symptoms again but on Omeprazole this time… it was actually worse than I remember on PAN."

"I was given omprazole for minor heartburn, after two days I had constant acid reflux burning stomach pain vomiting, diarrhea and stomach inflammation, it took me 3 weeks for my stomach to settle down, I'm still battling with the acid reflux. Dr's give out these pill without knowing the cause of your problems, they still want me to try another brand of ppi , but I'm going to stick with diet and get better naturally."

"I have a hiatus hernia, causing GERD. I was put on 20mg Omeprazole in the morning, and have been on that dose for about 2 years. The GERD cleared up and generally has not come back (only if I have too many beers or eat too late at night!). No side effects noticed. I may talk to my doctor eventually about any long term use problems; but so far so good."

"I had a huge mental breakdown 3 months ago and severe stomach problems followed, lost 20 pounds. Couldn’t eat anything, even water upset my stomach. My throat was gurgling constantly and I was getting worried with how many tums I was taking just to be able to live my life. Maybe an ulcer, maybe stress, who knows, but omeprazole sure did help. Everyone’s stomach’s are different and react differently, but for me this was a life saver."

"I was prescribed this after being diagnosed with GERD. I currently take Adderall XR and Lamotrigine. I've taken antacids with both medications before without any issues, but after my second dose of Omeprazole, I felt awful. not only did it feel like it completely disabled the lamotrigine, causing me to feel dizzy and like my entire body was made of static, but it also gave me pretty intense nausea. I tried it for 4 days and it was like having the flu for 3 of those 4 days. All of those days I had to take Ibuprofen or Tylenol, several antacids, anti nausea chews or emetrol, and zantac, and that only lasted a few hours of comfort until it would come back. These pills are the worst thing ever to come out of a bottle. I'd rather take zantac the rest of my life than take this stuff ever again. The worst part is I was told this wouldn't interact with anti-seizure meds, and it was beyond wrong."

"Nothing worked better that omeprazole for my chronic heartburn. However, the side effects weren't worth it. After 1 week I was painfully bloated, constipated, throwing up in my throat (which didn't burn, very weird) & could only eat a few bites of food at a time. I stuck with it for 1 more week hoping my body would adjust but it just got worse."

"I've been on this drug for a few years now for acid reflux . I've never felt completely well since I've been on it and wondered why my life had spiralled downhill. Thought it was just an age thing so just kept taking it . Now reading these reviews I know why I haven't feel well now. I always have acid reflux and feel it in my throat so that's why I always have taken them.. in the last few weeks I have felt really rough with it. Nausea daily aches and pains in all my bones. Anxiety which I have NEVER suffered with sinus and filled ears, numbness and tingling in my arms brain fog which worried me a little as I work with dementia patients . Still I didn't think it was omeprazole doing it. I feel sick every morning after taking it so I didn't take one this morning and have felt completely different today fingers crossed. I'm going to try a small amount of Diluted bicarb and natural things from now on. It just goes to show how these drugs and similar can pull your life to pieces ."

"I had developed GERD a few months ago and also had my gallbladder removed. Since I started Omeprazole, within 2 weeks, I started having anxiety and headaches. However, it does control the acid reflux, but it's the side effects I do not care for. When I started weaning myself from it, my anxiety and headaches started disappearing. I will be consulting with my doctor about alternatives that will not give me the same symptoms."

"I had a similar experience with this drug. I’ve been on it for about a month. All the symptoms mentioned I had. My anxiety went from bad to horrendous, I was dizzy and faint and had lots of muscle cramping weakness. My brain had gotten so bad I would be in the middle of a sentence and forget was I was saying. Deciding to come off of it try a more natural route of healing"

Prilosec (omeprazole) "?Works ok. But I can't get into the package! I'm 74 and have arthritis; it took me 20 minutes to stab and poke and get the darn pills into the daily boxes. If I try to push the pills out the little aluminum bubble, my nails break. I will certainly not use this stuff ever again; it doesn't seem like rocket science to make the pills actually AVAILABLE!!!! B (I hope this is helpful, even though it is grouchy)"

Prilosec (omeprazole) "I have taken Prilosec 40mg once a day for 4 years now. It manages my GERD well. Without it I would have severe reflux and have a damaged esophagus and stomach. I have had no side effects that I am aware of."

Prilosec (omeprazole) "Prilosec has always worked for me since I went off Nexium but I recently tried the flavored one and I can no longer take just one pill a day to keep the burning away....so off to the store today to get my regular Prilosec since I have finally finished the flavored box. No more of the flavored one for me."

"I was taking Pepcid before for GERD and indigestion twice a day for several years. The night episodes started becoming more frequent lately, so my doctor switched me to Prilosec. After a week, I was getting a sore throat constantly, constipation, and lots of stomach gas. This is day 11, and I stopped taking the Prilosec. I took a Pepcid AC last night to get some relief, and slept well."

"A few years back I was having my first acid attack where I was nonstop belching/chest pressure relieved by burping. Dr prescribed me 2 week dose of 20 mg Omeprazole. Worked like a charm and I was able to go back to eating normal things. It’s been a few years and for whatever reason I had an attack again. I self medicated my 2 week dose as it had helped last time. Unfortunately, I only had a week of relief until the lump in my throat came back. This time I’ve been experiencing major anxiety as well as arm pain and constipation. Reading these other comments helped me to realize I wasn’t crazy and that this is affecting me. I was also very nauseous one night. I am about 1 week into another 2 week course as instructed by my doctor due to return of symptoms. I’m thinking I will stick it out due to the relief of my reflux."

Prilosec (omeprazole) "Prilosec completely eradicates the severe reflux I suffer from due to a rare stomach condition known as gastroparesis. Sadly, it completely eliminates my appetite as well. It also slows my metabolism down to a crawl, which is already inherently slow due to my stomach condition. "

"When I took the first ever Omeprazole tablet about a month ago, I was feeling a little sick, that went away an hour later, but I started to feel vertigo in the afternoon that day and my vision was so blurred I felt like I was drunk however I took my next tablet in the evening and then the next one in the morning next day and that was it. I was feeling very dizzy and my vision was significantly affected (I literally felt as if I was drunk) for the next nearly 2 weeks - it took 2 weeks for those side effects to go away after stopping taking omeprazole. It didn't give me any relief in terms of acid reflux."
