Refresh Celluvisc (ocular lubricant) "After using this product for a short time (1 day), I am displeased that after several uses, the drops leave a crusty residue under the eyes. The residue can only be removed using something oily like cold cream or mineral oil."

Systane Nighttime (ocular lubricant) "I used Systane Ultra as directed by my surgery post cataract surgery. My eyes burned and itched for several minutes after applying but I though it had something to do with the surgery. Then a couple of months after surgery I was advised to take Systane Nighttime ointment for eye dryness because I had started using a Bi-pap machine. I tried it in one eye to start, and after the first night, my eye became irritated and for 2 days following it felt as though I had sand in my eye or a corneal abrasion. Both times when I reported this to my physician's office ( Ultra and Nighttime Ointment) they seemed puzzled. But reading comments here, I see I'm not alone."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "Bought these today for dry eyes and soon as I put them in I felt the worst eye stinging I have ever felt! Horrible! Boric acid??? I want my money back and a good explanation as to why they hurt my eyes!!"

Refresh Liquigel (ocular lubricant) "I'm 79 yrs old and Eye Dr. told me my eyes are very dry and to use Refresh liquigel for relief. After using in each eye about three times, I wake up with swollen eyelids and rash around the outside of each eye. My skin seems to reject a few drops that tear out of the eye after dropping into the eye. I had to stop using and wait it out with ice compression and allergy medication. I am very allergic to whatever is in this eye medication. Thank God that my eyesight and eyeball were not affected, only the eyelids and under-eye."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "I have allergies and my eyes get itchy so I thought I would try Systane to sooth my irritated eyes. When I put a drop in each eye my eyes became blurred over and I could not see! As it dissipated some I could not longer read the information on the box! It damaged my eyes! I flushed my eyes out three times with water and it still didn’t help! They felt itchy and sticky.. That evening my right eye had a lump that appeared on my lower lid, white is still there! And my eye sight from the eye drops on Friday are still not back to normal! How can a company produce a product that is not safe to use? I am going to call my attorney!"

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "I bought Systane Ultra yesterday due to supposed accolades of doctors. Used it once. Eyes became increasingly red. That night all lights had halos (maybe the viscosity of the fluid?) Eyes burned when I tried to read. I read the reviews to see if any others were having similar side effects. They were. I washed my eyes with a warm baby shampoo solution last night to start ridding my eyes of the residuals. They are better this morning. Unfortunately, the experience and the experience of others have left me skeptical of Alcon products, or at least this one."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "I started taking Systane Ultra for dry eye, and my eyes got so red and irritated, I had to quit using it. My vision became very blurry and my eyes both really hurt. I am convinced it was preservatives in them that caused my problem. I will never use these again. I hope my eyes get better soon."

Systane Ultra Preservative Free (ocular lubricant) "What a miserable experience! Something that is this expensive and preservative free shouldn't cause such discomfort. It has been a nightmare. My eyes got swollen, irritated and the entire eye socket area became/is bright red. I still haven't recovered from it. It looks like I got punched in the eyes. I've tried many brands and drops before and NEVER had an experience like this. I'm taking them back and will never, ever buy this brand again."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Caused horrible migraines and nausea both times using drops, within 30-40 minutes of using 1 drop per eye. First time I did not think it was due to drops, second time, 2 days later, I realized the cause was the drops. Caused a migraine both times... not a headache, but full on migraine!"

Systane (ocular lubricant) "I used Systane Relief for Dry Eyes about 5 years ago and felt my eyes got drier every day. The day I stopped was when my both corneas tore when I woke up and opened my eyes due to my eyes being so dry. I saw my optometrist and contacted Systane. Systane quickly sent a courier to pick up their product and never reported anything back to me. I called them and they wouldn't respond. 5 years later I am having laser surgery to repair my cornea where I had the most damage and lost 1/2 my vision in that eye."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "I actually just did a search “Systane causing grainy residue” and I was shocked to find that other people have had side effects from these drops. I have also experienced worsened itching, burning and blurred vision. I will not use these. I will inform Optometrist who recommended it."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "Dr told me to use this 2 times a day for dry eyes every 12 hrs 1st day it seemed to help had a bad headache 2nd and 3rd day by 4th day my right hurt and was so irritated and my eyes were so blurry after reading these reviews. I stopped the Systane. My eyes are still bothering me but I’m 100% sure my eyes are more blurry and irritated then they were. These drops might help some people but I wish I would have never used them"

Lubricant Eye Drops (ocular lubricant) "I'm 50 and I've used other drops all my life with no problems. After a few weeks of using these drops my eyes started burning and I noticed my vision would get blurry at night while trying to watch TV. I never had these symptoms before using these drops and it was getting so bad I finally decided to look at the reviews... sure enough, I saw a lot of other people are experiencing the same exact horrible side effects. I just threw mine in the trash... I just hope it didn't do any permanent damage."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Gave me swollen and puffy eye lids. I quit using Systane lid wipes and Systane complete drops as they made my eye lids puffy. Now I see that Drugs.com lists this as a side effect. Don't take a chance with your eyes. Costco may have to stop stocking this product."

Lacrisert (ocular lubricant) "I have been using Lacriserts for at least 20 years, I have dry eye from sjogrens disease. Like other people say they are a God send. I have not been able to get them this last month and I now get to be totally miserable with my dry eyes since they have absolutely no tears. This is the third time his has happened to me. It is a necessity for me. Can someone please tell me why they are not available? I am in a lot of pain and so far this is the only medication that works for me, OTC or prescription"

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "Crazy. My eye dr pushed these eye drops so hard and using these eye drops made my eyes dryer and dryer. It took 2.5 years to discover that I should use preservative free eye drops instead —because low and behold I was allergic to the regular drops! The reg drops caused more inflammation which interfered with My normal tear production. Thousands of dollars later, a lot of pain and suffering, two ulcers on my left eye and it was the office receptionist that suggested I try preservative free eye drops! And, within a couple of weeks my devastating dry eye symptoms were gone."

Refresh Optive Mega-3 (ocular lubricant) "I’ve been using Refresh Mega-3 and I felt relief at first. Then within an hour or less, the stinging begins, itching and stinging. I want to rub my eyes so badly to stop the burn! This too was recommended by my doctor with a coupon. Im going to stop using it! Going to buy another brand because I do need the eye drops because of dry eye."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "This has been my brand for the past 15 years, product is very good. But new bottle introduced in 2022 is not working well for me, drop that forms at tip most of the time is to big like 3 drops in one, product is wasted, also doesn't fall always vertically in the line of the tip so also waste product. Former container was better."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "Been using Systane Ultra for 6 days for my dry eyes and I didn’t feel any of the beneficial effects of the drops. It actually made it worse. My eyes got too sticky and after 5 min went dry again. Now I have this burning sensation and decided to see the reviews and realize Systane is the problem. Will stop using it and hope my eyes get better!!"

Soothe XP (ocular lubricant) "The first time I used it it created a film over both my eyes that left in seconds. My eyes felt better in minutes. It pays to buy the better brand when dealing with your eyes. We shall see down the road, but for now I feel satisfied"

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "I didn't connect it to the drops but I have had burning, redness, blurring vision, and floaters since I started using Systane Ultra. I got a new prescription for glasses as I thought my eyesight had changed. I will stop using it today. I have been using this product for the last 6 months so hope no permanent damage has been done. Avoid. MHRA should also look into the product."

My pharmacy has given up calling the company. I have contacted the company to no avail. I need help and don't know what to do."

Oasis Tears (ocular lubricant) "My wife had extremely severe dry eyes and the doctor told her to take these plus Xiidra drops. After using for several weeks, she is doing much better. The doctor then diagnosed me with less severe dry eyes and told me to use them too. I have noticed much improvement and no side effects. To use properly, point the top up, flick the vial to put the air at the top, then twist off the top. This prevents leaks and spills. It is expensive but most good eye drops are. These are preservative free so come in small vials for sanitation reasons, so I am fine with it as the cost of keeping germs out of our eyes."

Oasis Tears (ocular lubricant) "Oasis tears are good doctors consider it the best, however it is a rip off, the vials are a disaster you open and you lose some the drop in your eye takes time and you may miss your eye then they are difficult to close. Finally it becomes so expensive that is not worth it. Don’t buy them there are similar products that are cheaper and they do the same job. They are very difficult to use"
