Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been on 100 mg's of methadone for almost 4 months and my constipation has been miserable! It got to the point were I was so bloated that my pants were not fitting and I had to buy new ones because of all the stool in my stomach. Well I got desperate and asked my doctor for help, and after being prescribed lesser stimulant laxatives and Colace to no avail, I landed Movantik. I took it after I ate dinner (2 hours after, as instructed) and I ended up going to bed only with a slight cramp in my stomach. I am positive it was not due to the med, it felt as if my intestines were waking up and beginning to work again. When I woke, I had the best, most normal BM ever. I am so happy for this med 12/10. I will update if anything changes. 9/3/16"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "what a joke of a med, I had terrible experience. I have been on oxycontin for 20 yrs and miralax everyday is wonderful, looks like a drug company is trying to recoup its development costs at patients expense, miralax is a miracle"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I tried Movantik and it worked very quick but made my stool pure blood. I had heard about that side effect before but never experienced it until then. It scared the hell out of me. I haven't taken it since."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Opioid-Induced Constipation "Movantik works great for my opiate induced constipation. I'm so glad I tried it. I take it first thing in the morning and within an hour I go. I was worried about opiate withdrawal, but I didn't have issues with that. I wait an hour to take my opiate medication just to be safe and my pain meds still work well too."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been on opioids for over 8 years. Movantik was suggested after an ER visit due to constipation. On my first night of taking this pill, I went into the ER with severe diarrhea (5 episodes in 2 hours), cramping, and nausea. I took the pill again the next night and still got cramps with diarrhea but both were not as bad as the night before.I kept taking the pill at night before bed and the side effects got better and better with each continuous night. By the second week, I was no longer cramping nor getting diarrhea. When taken at 10pm, I would have a bowel movement at about 6am and it was loose without needing a laxative. It is my suggestion that even if the first few nights brings diarrhea, cramping, nausea, and other discomforts, to stick with it; It will get better. As painful as those first few nights may be, the longterm outcome of it will be worth it more than the struggle of dealing with the consequences of not staying on Movantik."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have to say I was somewhat relieved to see that I wasn't the only one who suffered so greatly with this drug the experience (but sad to see others suffering) I truly thought I was dying and I kept telling myself it'll be over soon it'll be over soon the pain chills and vomiting absolute suffering was unlike anything in recent memory for me.. I'll never take this drug again and I'm afraid to take anything like it it was that severe of a reaction and this was my 4th day taking this drug the first night the cramps were pretty rough but short-lived last night I just truly never thought I was going to survive it.. It lasted about 3 hours.. Which felt like eternity.. Today I'm just so weak feeling.. it's going in the garbage $323 wasted..."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Opioid-Induced Constipation "Do NOT USE THIS!! I took 1st one at 10am. By 11am, I had went to the bathroom 7x. By 12pm I had such severe cramps & in full blown withdrawal. Was worse than any withdrawal I’ve ever experienced. You get no warning about it. The stomach cramps were THE WORST I EVER EXPERIENCED! Was worse than labor! They came every 1-2 minutes, I had to breath through them, screaming in pain. I wanted to call an ambulance but I couldn’t move through the pain. I wanted to die. I took an extra dose of my methadone WHICH I'VE NEVER EVER DONE & angry that this pill forced me to do it. The withdrawals eased up, but not the cramps. Throwing up. Crying. I’m not a praying person, but I was screaming my prayers to God to stop the pain. After about 6-7 hrs, the cramps have subsided. I feel normal now. I immediately just flushed the rest of that medication and will never try anything ever again. I’ll still with fiber pills & Miralax. DON'T USE!!!!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I've tried every laxative (OTC and prescription) for my Suboxone induced constipation, and while it does cause withdrawal and some pain, it actually works without me needing to stay home all day so I can be near a toilet. I will say that it seems to weaken the effects of the Suboxone"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have full body RSD. (CRPS). I started taking opiates for the first time, 10mg of Methadone 2x's a day since Oct of 2015. Linzess high dose never really worked. I tried Movantik and it worked the first day. After that, horrific abdominal pain and cramping. Almost couldn't drive when it hit me when I went to Vote here in Florida. This drug is garbage. Expensive garbage. Try it, but be careful. Don't get your hopes up."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "Worst reaction to a drug I ever had. Horrible 24 hrs after taking the first 25mg sample. Severe stomach ache, bloating and cramping. Severe, extreme dizziness...and the drug blocked my morphine and gave me horrible opioid withdrawal effects. I was close to going to the ER but kept telling myself it would be over soon. It didn't happen for 30 hrs. Felt like passing out...I was a mess. I take a lot of meds for chronic lyme, fibro and chronic crps pain. I would never take this again. What has helped me is the otc diet pill ALLI which blocks fat from absorbing in the stomach and linzess. The movantik was a horrible experience for me and will never take again.... opioid withdrawal symptoms are awful."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Chronic "I took this for the 1st time. Two hours after I took it stomach acid was coming out both ends. Cramps so bad I felt like I was having a baby again - except I wasn’t throwing up while I was in labor. It’s like the flu times 10. I had to go to the hospital for dehydration and they gave me something to stop the cramps I was there 5 hours in pain. Never again will I take this"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "This medication literally saved my husband's life. He has been on OxyContin for 16 years. He's tried everything! He truly thought he'd have a heart attack from pushing. Dr gave him samples of Movantik, 30 min later, a BM. No problem. Been the same story for over a month. I saw so many negative reviews, and I'm so sorry this did t work for you... I hope you find the one thing that does!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Opioid-Induced Constipation "Been on methadone for a year now, currently at 30mg and tapering down. Tried Movantik and had horrible side effects-intense abdominal pain, stomach spasms which caused uncontrollable vomiting, sweating, withdrawal symptoms that put me in bed for the day. Almost went to ER. THANK YOU to the person who posted on Feb 26th! Magnesium Oxide 500mg and Docusate Sodium stool softener 100mg...I never thought I'd go from clumped marbles, hard as rocks to a smooth, non-painful BM but this has done wonders for me. Took 3-4 of each at night to start and I was blown away. Now taking 1-2 of each and it's still working. I just wish I knew about this months ago. Buy generic, less than $10 at Walmart. Give it a try if Movantik has failed you!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "My doctor gave me this cause I’m on high doses of opioids for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and spinal arachnoiditis. This was horrible. I was given trial packs first 25mg I took, them so much pain in my belly I could not move. I was curled in fetal position contemplating calling ambulance. Horrific pain and deep bone pain in both my legs far worse than my CRPS pain plus nauseous, chills, I thought I was dying. Horrible. Threw them in the trash."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "Well it did what this medicine was suppose to do although it did cause a small duodenum perforation that landed me in the hospital. I had severe constipation from methadone which I came off of due this issue. I felt no pain I'd like to add and I would give it the thumbs up. Umm I was prescribed it after my second day off methadone to reverse the problem. It seemed to work. Better, gentler than Relistor. Hopefully you folks find this helpful. Also I did have a little withdrawal such as sneezing and mild bone chills but the end out come I feel was well worth it!! Good luck!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I started using Movantik for the first time on New Year's Day. I read all I could about the drug and decided to take it. After about 15-20 minutes I experienced some very minor abdominal discomfort. After about another 15 minutes I had the feeling I had to make a bowel movement. I was amazed the medication worked so well and quickly. I had my bowel movement. I had to make another smaller bowel movement hours later that same day. So far the first day of using this medication was a success."

I use stool softeners and MiraLAX when I did use this drug it caused me to have horrible stomach cramps sweats nausea and vomiting. I hope they allow this to be posted"

I highly recommend it for anyone who has been on opioids for as long as I have, which is a very long time."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have had a very positive experience with this drug daily over the last 2 months. Side effects nil. If you are concerned about side effects you should talk to your physician, but my two cents would be not to be dissuaded by a few bad experiences reported on this board, as those are extreme outliers if you look at the label. Anyway, best advice is always to talk to your doc. Good luck if you are looking for help on OTC drugs, like I was!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I can't believe Movantik has such terrible reviews. It's because of these reviews that I was scared to try it for 2 months after I got it. Then one day, I decided to try it for myself. This medicine is wonderful!! I would of gave it a 10, but you do get slight cramping and gas. In my opinion the benefits outweigh the cramps and gas."

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been on different opiods for a chronic pain issue for 15yrs but, since I started taking methadone 5 years ago I've had horrible problems with constipation. They kept me on myralax 34mg twice a day and stool softners but even that would only allow me to use the bathroom maybe 3x's a week. I was given relastor as the injection at home and the pain was unbearable for 9 hours and, it did not work. I was so scared to take Movantik but, I'm so glad that I did! Just one pill and everything inside me finally came out! My cramping is very minimal, nothing that really hurts much at all, more "Hey, the pill is working" type of movement and cramps. They have coupons for $20!"

Movantik (naloxegol) for Constipation, Drug Induced "I’ve been on opioids for about 10 years and have always had problems going to the bathroom (constipation). My doctor gave me 25mg Movantik to take in the morning and it worked for me within an hour of taking it. It gave me horrible cramps so we’ve cut the dose to 12.5mg. I still cramp a little but that’s my only side effect. Some days I don’t go to the bathroom after taking Movantik but sometimes I don’t eat much due to pain. I will never go without Movantik. I feel so much better every day not being bloated and ‘backed up’."
